I have a quick one for you today to talk about something I recently learned about. High Flow quick connect air fittings. I had never thought that my HVLP Spray Guns could be not getting all the volume of air they should be because of the restriction in the quick connect fittings. These High Flow quick connect fittings flow a lot more air thus reducing the chance of the Spray Gun getting starved for high flow. Below are the links for everything I talked about in the video.

Thanks Mark. I switched all my air tools over to Milton high flow a few years ago. It made a huge difference on things like impact guns. I live in a high humidity area and can't afford a good dryer system just for spraying. I went with a Fuji 5 stage turbine sprayer. It gives me clean dry air but the biggest thing is the very small amount of overspray (9PSI). It was pricey. Like you my paints are crazy expensive and prefer not to waste it. I'm no painter but I get really nice results with it and it's completely portable. Thank you for your time and tips.

Super low humidity here but not zero so I can get water spitting out when I am using a high volume of air over extended periods. 9 psi is about what most HVLP guns want but most guys have the pressure set to high trying to get a good pattern. Materials are getting super pricey that is for sure so a high transfer rate is more important than ever. Mark

Thanks Mark. Looks like I'm going to be changing out my quick connectors in my shop! Just the ability to plug in the air one handed will be worth it. Thanks!

Really smooth connection which will come in handy like you mentioned. Looking forward to putting them to use. Mark

Thanks for the info Mark! That's good to know. I have a long way to go before I get to spraying, but will be following your project.

You will be spraying before you know it. Practice on some less important parts and you will get the feel for it. Mark

Mark, thanks for the info on the high flow connectors. That makes so much sense. Your other tips were helpful as well. Can you do a quick video on your choice of pressure regulator at the gun and inline filters when you have a chance? Keep up the good work.

Sure thing Ron. I have a few different air control valves I use and will put something together soon. Mark

Thanks, Mark, for the info on the quick fits... wondering if you could recommend a less expensive DTM ... this is my 3rd build but 1st that includes me doing the painting. Will be spraying in a homemade paint booth, and I'll need to spend some $$ on a proper sized air compressor.

I have a video coming up soon talking about what to look for in a DTM so stay tuned. You can totally paint yourself so go for it and save some $$$ As far as the compressor goes don't get distracted by the tank size and focus on the CFM at each pressure. They usually list the output at 2 different pressures. A 60 gallon tank will give you some breathing room if you use a lot of air for extended periods and reduces run times allowing the compressor to cool down a little. Oil less like mine are really loud but the air is clean since there is zero chance of oil from the crankcase but oil type crankcase compressors will work just fine for your needs. Shop around and compare CFM, HP on the motor and voltage. Name brand compressors are nice but you are pay for the sticker big time. Mark
