I sent u some a msg on instra. Please help me regarding tanning. I have insdian brown skin but due to sporting and sun exposure in childhood face color got darken permanently :(. Just want my orginal color back.
I’m an Esthetician here in Atlanta, and I looooove watching you explain the science behind skin/products. I’ve learned sooooo much from you and Dr Dray!!! you’re WONDERFUL Dr Lim!!!!!
This video is EXACTLY what I needed! I have been using The Ordinary Skin Care Line for the last 6 months (is amazing), and found that the moisturizer with HA was suddenly not working. It would literally made my face look like I was sweating profusely. It was a hot mess and I dont even use foundation. It's Summer time here in NYC and the worst day had a 97 degrees. I thought it was that the moisturizer was to heavy for Summer, but is the Hyaluronic Acid!!!! Without knowing that it was that ingredient alone, I would have likely purchased another moisturizer with HA. Understanding which ingredient doesn't wirk and why makes such a big difference. You solved my riddle Dr. Lim, Genius! I have learned so much from you I cant thank you enough. Also, I love the Ordinary Line so much I am scared I would be in trouble if they stop making it. I'm looking for other great, affordable products as back up. I also need to mention that I have oily skin. HA may act differently on dry skin in the Summer. Anyway, once again THANK YOU FROM NEW YORK CITY. :)
Thanks for your informed advice! I am currently a med student looking into dermatology as a specialty :) just wondering, what are your thoughts are on using hyaluronic acid in conjunction with derma-rolling and skin needling, and whether this is any more effective without having to use fillers. Thanks again!
Thank you for your expertise in Dermatology. It reinforces what I was taught years ago. With all the hype in the cosmetics industry it’s important, as a consumer, to have the truth regarding what ingredients actually penetrate the skin surface.
Wash face Apply HA serum. I use la Roche Posay vitamin B5 and the vitamin C serum Apply Retin. I use Adeplene. Apply moisturizer. I use Cerave from the tub. Apply eye cream. I use Cerave HA eye cream.
I love your videos and always found them informative. Although, this video I felt was a little bias towards a product you are trying to sell..."injections." There is scientific proof that using HA's after microneedling allows the HA's to penetrate in a fashion similar to that you described by your injections. Would you clarify for everyone?
Thank You Dr Lim for coming back to RU-vid, I was wondering if you had heard of the Australian brand of skincare ASAP and your opinion on this brand...Much Appreciated from a fellow Aussie 🇦🇺 from near you...😊😊
-Nellie -m I’ve purchased few products of ASAP but haven’t tried them yet. I see quite a few ASAP products in his cabinet, maybe he’ll make a video about them. 🤞
Sleeping Labradors I’ve been using it now for a couple of months and quite like it, I was using Zo Health skincare which is Very Expensive, and I Think the ASAP is very similar to that brand, it even has the same texture and smell....the only thing is I wished their Vitamin C was a Serum Not a Cream, But I use them All...Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Daily Moisturiser with SPF, Eye cream, and I’ve just started their Vitamin A at night, But too soon to give an opinion on that one, it’s now sold at a Salon near me when a long time ago I had to purchase it only online which for me is a Bonus because I don’t like buying online products.... I also have the cream cleanser and daily exfoliating cream I use at night...❤️❤️❤️🇦🇺
I feel like HA is gonna pull moisture from deeper layers of the skin, pull it to the surface of the skin and make it easier for your moisture to evaporate into the environment.
In order for any substance to penetrate the skin, it needs to have molucules smaller then 500 dalton. HA in the smallest most advanced form ”low molecule weight hyaluronic acid” still has over 50 000 dalton.
Hey doc! 😊 What about collagen tablets? Do they really work for the skin, from inside? The recommended cure is up to 3 months of daily pill. Thanks in advance! You're great! 😊
@UC2m3yjfRKXxiK6jASmhxx_w thanks for answering :). We were talking about collagen pills, not HA. Might be the same thing, regarding the absorbition, tho...
Your face skin looks GREAT, Dr. Lim What is your AM/PM skin routine?. Question: Does applying HA after micro-needling of 0.25 or 0.5 mm help more penetration to the dermis or it still stay in the epidermis? For this, I have been using MULTI-MOLECULAR HYALURONIC COMPLEX (MMHC) from The Ordinary-NIOD. The Ordinary description on their HA says that the MMHC is a stronger combination of HA. What are your impressions on it? Also, The Ordinary has expanded a lot their line with their other name brands (NIOD, Hylamide) at a higher price.
replicxnt I do it all the time, I’m an aesthetician. We tell clients it adds moisture and protection to the skin, but I was wondering if it is then delivered deeper than just the epidermis, we may be able to inform them of the anti ageing benefits too.
So, you are saying that if one is using active ingredients, like Tretinoin, or an AHA, they will work better if first using a topical HA product? I always feel as if I don’t apply my Retin A or AHA to dry, clean skin, I’m cheating myself of the full effect.
I read an article that said it’s best to put vitamin c first, wait to dry, then apply the hyaluronic acid. Think I’m going to try the other way around though to use it as a buffer as I’m new to vitamin c. Then I’ll follow with some vitamin e and lotion to further dilute lol
I am an Esthetician and very much appreciative the information you provide. So happy that you are putting out videos on RU-vid again. Thank you for your important (and clearly explained) informative videos!
Thank you Dr. Davin. I built my skincare regimen around the basic - Vitamin A, B, & C, because I have watched your previous videos. I also watched videos from other dermatologists & drew conclusions from there using critical thinking though my understanding can be very limited being a layman. Please continue making videos explaining benefits of skincare ingredients in a layman’s term. Learning from you is a great start in selecting products and ingredients for my skin without spending a lot of money.
Hi, Dr. Lim. Thank you so much for great information. one question though! How HA can act as an agent to deliver other nutrients to deeper level when HA itself cannot penetrate into deeper level of skin? Thank you so much!! :)
How about the effectiveness of HA when coupled with 0.25-0.5 mm microneedling? Will it still be an effective moisturizer when used in dry climates? Thanks so much for your educational videos I love them!
Thanks for your great info, doc 😘 My dry, sensitive skin loves HA, esp. in toner, essence & serum forms, and always on wet skin. So is it better to use multi molecular weight HAs or just basic HA? For example The Ordinary & their parent company Desiem have many different HA Serums. Is their cheapest HA Serum as good as their more expensive multi molecular weight/different forms of HA Serums?
@@miss_jess ,thank you, after I replied to your message I realized, all I had to do was pull the video back up and listen, I'm so busy I'm still trying to work in my senior years so it would have taken a little time to figure out which video it was but anyway I really and truly appreciate you replying and the manner that you did thank you for all that you do and did and God-bless and make it a great day...
At the end he mentioned HA can help bring Retinal's penetration... but I am not clear if he means to use HA first and then a Retinal product, OR visa versa.... would someone mind helping me with this question? I would love to know ❤
Sounded to me at about 14:00, where you mention, that the HA was first. I apply products like this - cleanse, cocktail of Nicinamide , and Matrxyl ( the Ordinary) then after a couple minutes I add HA (The Ordinary) . When dry, ( I go make coffee & make the bed) I add moisturizer and give it a little time before finally the Sunscreen. Makeup goes on flawlessly so long as I gave everything time to absorb. There is a video on You Tube that I couple with Dr Lim for skin care education called The Pampered Wolf. Those two are everything I ever needed. Stay well!
I’d forgotten how good you are at this. Thank you so much for the intelligent and direct style and for all the info we need to make good decisions. You’re the best!
As always such a great in depth video. Thank you! Question...in what order should we apply our skin care, so that the H Acid helps other actives to penetrate deeper. I use HAcid first thing in the morning...however in the evening fistly i use tretenoine 0.1% , then follow with H Acid and moisturizer lastly.
Guity Dormishian the molecules are to large, they won’t penetrate! And if has an other chemicals in it to allow it to pass the the stomach, it can chemically burn your skin, block pores, or cause pigmentation plus more!
Davin Your hair looks Great. I love it! My husband has the same salt n pepper hair. He was thinking about dying it and I quickly stopped him. It is very attractive.
As someone who has an allergic reaction to HA in skin care products, I can assure you it is incredibly frustrating to find skincare these days! It is in 90% of products currently. Very disingenuous to praise such an ingredient that has been clearly over hyped as "THE IT" ingredient by the beauty industry. The beauty industry makes a killing and the consumers have to deal with irritation of skin and wasted money!
Thank you for this tutorial on hyaluronic acid. I was looking into some serums and creams and thank you thank you so much love your videos just joined love from Austin Texas
How often should you apply Ha serum, and is there any peptides or acids etc that can have a tightening effects for your neck , also what other serums go well with ha thanks 😊 I use the ordinary ha
Yay! Finally a new video from you. I love all the little Instagram posts you do, and love it when you have a new video on RU-vid. The information you provide is so helpful.
they do not work! There is zero evidence they work! Studies have shown that the supplements are not even abosorbed that much and most of it gets pissed and shat out! Thats not how skin works! You cant just magically take a pill and have that ingredient go direct to hair or skin! Hair and skin vitamins do not work! All vitamins can do is support normal skin and hair growth perdiod! Nothing mroe nothing less!
Thank you for this video.. I won’t be spending my money on serums any more.. I’ll stick to CeraVe moisturizer.. again thank you for the great information 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This video was so helpful 😭😭😭 Whenever I'm looking for skincare products the employees only know so much and they just tell me the benefits but this video explains everything so clearly thank you so much!
A little off the subject but would you have a recommendation for a lipstick that does not make lips peal? There must be an ingredient that makes this happen but i don't know What it is. Love your channel. Phyllis in Nevada
I have raw hyaluronic powder with me I simply add distilled water into it and Put it in the fridge for few hours for making it as the serum consistency. Apply it twice a day on my freshly cleaned face. It works as an elixir.
I have constant Dehydrated skin, I've tried many hyaluronic acid product, however it just made my skin even tight and drier... Does anybody know why? =(
I'm so happy you're back on Y. T. I was initially confused as in the UK this is pronounced hyaluronic with an R. Once I got to the molecular weight part I realised its the same thing. Thank for an excellent top vid Dr D. XOXO
Hi Dr, if it's ok I have a few random questions for you if or whenever you have the time to answer: First, how often should someone wash/cleanse their face?--particularly, how much is too much? What's your best tip for repairing a damaged skin moisture barrier? And what is the ideal age to introduce retinoids into skincare? Thank you for your insights!
Twice a day. Depends on your skin sensitivity, as for repair, well atopic dermatitis has MAJOR barrier disruption. For those patients we use simple emollients. WSP. CETAHPIL, and many other simple formulations. Retinoids - late teens! DL
Thank you for taking the time to teach us about HA's! I especially liked that you explained the how HA's should be used with a moisturizer in an arid climate. I grew up in a humid place but moved inland recently and I never considered using a moisturizer before.
RECIPES? ...What about powders? Amazon for instance sells a LOT of hydroponic powder as well as vit. C and other ingredients. Could you pls make a video about homemade creams or serums. Thanks VERY much if you do.
Thank you Dr Lim for a fascinating video. As a recently retired nurse in the U.K. I now have to be frugal about my skincare purchases. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I got a bit fed up with some of the Beauty bloggers bringing out the next amazing product that will do wonders for your skin! I now watch you, Dr Dray , and Dr Sam Bunting. I’m 65 and just want my skin to look the best it can. It’s nice to see men taking more care of their skin than they did in the past. When I visited my son Kam in Singapore he said help yourself to any of the skincare in the bathroom cabinet Mum It was like an Aladdin’s cave!
This doctor is so smart and knowledgeable. Thanks for sharing the information with us and enlightening us on HA’s, I think I know more about it now and the best video on RU-vid explaining ha’s.
I liked the way you delivered the message. You are so knowledgeable and you base it from clinical trials or studies. And you are never been biased with some brands because of the videos I watched they were sponsored. Thumbs up to you Dr.Lim!
@80% suicides are men but no one cares he's talking about expensive ones since HA will degrade within a day or two so if you want to incorporate HA, it's better to go for cheaper topically and save up for injectibles if you really want to pursue long term benefits
Thank you doctor very educative vidéo as usual.one question Though,What about non cross linked HA injected into epidermedis via mesotherapy ?is that effective?how does it last into the skin?thank you
I been seeing the secret to using Hyloraunic Acid is to apply w/ water. I just began to microneedle my lips w/ HA serum before bed & spray w/ distilled water several x's b4 bed & to my surprise it did make a difference & works! It might be temporary(a wk applying every night) but lasts the entire day which keeps me content meanwhile I can get fillers re-done. Some nights I don't use the microneedle roller w/ & still works. It's especially cool to do the night before an event/special occasion. The brand I use is NOW Solutions which I love cuz it contains certified organic ingredients & it's super affordable ☺️ the roller I found for $6 @ Ross & can also be found @ Burlington all those store's but I hope that helps anybody 💜
@@JeanieAngel7 here in my country Malaysia, it easily can be found and purchased at drugstore. If it doesn't available in your country, maybe you can purchase it online. Take a look at few online website such as Bloomingdale's or Rakuten Global. Rakutan Global offered more Asian skincare products and they shipped it worldwide. Hada Labo is quite cosmetically elegant but trust me, you pay their products based on the quality offered 🙏. There is few range of Hada Labo products and make sure you choose it wisely based on your skin type and what's you skin need
As I understand it, I just need to apply a layer of CereVe over hyaluronic acid to help the HA hydrate the skin? I don’t spend a lot on HA anyway.Thank you for this video, Dr Lim!
My dry rosacea loves CeraVe products with HA. Injectable is not in my budget but the topical is and I have seen a great improvement in my skin in 2months. I will have to do the math and see if TheOrdinary would be more economical than CeraVe. Thank you for all your teaching. 🤗
Thank you Doc! I was cheking RealMe, and noticed that your personal results with Infini are better than the other docs, is it because the golden tip is burned and not working like its supposed. Should I ask to see that part? Thank you!!😊
I had a water based spf moisturizer that a cosmetologist personally makes and I found that it was leaving my skin too oily, as I have oily skin, so I stopped using it and now I believe it was due to the HA. My skin is too oily that I can’t put on any moisturizer and I feel like I don’t need it even though everyone says you should use one. Instead I use rose water and niamicide serum at night and my skin has gotten so much better ever since!
Ive ordered some Ordinary H A you recomended on instragram can't wait to try it! I have very sensitive skin so i will go very careful with it at first. Thanks for your advice always good 👍
I love this serum. Just know, a little goes a long way. I use just a few drops twice a day. It can pill up under makeup so just play with how much you use😊 I also use this to mix with my powdered I-ascorbic acid (vitamin C). It's cheaper than buying a vitamin C serum, and supposedly vitamin C starts to break down the moment it is mixed. So using the powder means I'm getting the most potent form!
@@pam164 From The Ordinary, of course😊❤ Start out with a small amount and build up. It can feel a bit sticky, but I think it's worth it. Also, if you are trying to get rid of hyperpigmentation, it can take months for it to work. I have been using products from The Ordinary for over two years now, and at 57, I look younger than I did in my 40's. But, I did have to be patient and let the ingredients work. The other option is to use much stronger products, but run the risk of having a reaction! Look here: theordinary.com/product/rdn-100pct-l-ascorbic-acid-powder-20g?ccm=6afb414ca0a748bd85ed7ead6c4e6729f133993f2fd49d2697d9aa1f3700dc05f70102cb1d00da802a8fe86a4f7a904b2cc58b019d79610ab89b7e00b33f328bc753a4096d6833cfdfd104393f7b6d2eee67a58e3ed2ad34d085eccfa86690d5613c2ecc5f685b3c9cf2f9b3d5faba22e134793014592b31c864396755468225c1457a6282894286dd1450f5de1df537
I LOVE your videos! You give such complete, easy to understand, explanations about product ingredients, and cosmetic procedures. Also, giving opinions on what to spend your money on is SO helpful. Even drugstore brands offer many products, and most well over $10, and many $25+. Some say they brighten and reduce wrinkles. Others say they reduce pore size, and "rejuvenate", does that mean it reduces wrinkles or does more?
I started taking MSM(sulfur) and my skin improved. I use the pure organic form in crystals and dissolve it in a glass of water. My nails and skin improved within a month. I also lost 15lbs unexpectedly.
