I went to City of Dreams last year, and I’m here in my hotel room, again❤️ I love this hotel! The mall, the staff, the rooms, the pool, dreamplay, if your visiting by yourself, with your family, it doesn’t matter, I definitely recommend it!
I just came back to watch your old stuff!! It still looks good and I can see where the improvements have come along. Nice work!! Definitely would like to see another Philippines trip here in 2024.
First thing you ask Manila taxi is "Do you have meter" If they say no then say "BYEEEE" If they say yes then ask if they go to where you want to go.Do not get in until know if meter or not. Plus always try to tip
Yes, that was the protocol I follow. But in 2 instances, I've got in taxi and asked them to turn on the meter. They said Yes and tapped the meter to show it is started. Then a few minutes later I checked the meter and it wasn't running. I asked why isn't the meter running and they started trying to negotiate pricing with me. Dirty as hell. The first time, it was early in the morning and I was heading to the airport to catch a flight. Couldn't be bothered to get out and miss my flight so I negotiated pricing. The 2nd time, I waited to get to the destination. Then told them I would report them and didn't pay. Now I only take Uber.
@@PaolofromTOKYO It's not only foreigners that are being conned by these Taxi Drivers also locals here in the Philippines, glad you learned your lesson and took Uber. There's an exception though and that is Baguio City, Baguio Meter Taxis are exception they will even make a change for upto a single cent.
If Uber or Grab are available, always ALWAYS use them instead of the local taxis especially in the Philippines. Most of the local taxis (NOT ALL) in the Philippines will definitely rip you off. Saaaaaad but true...
I’ve been there twice! It’s so beautiful! It was also one of my first times coming to my culture.p, since I could remember. So many family members, my mother and I came. My brother had school, and dad had work. It was amazing! It was so clean, and a few minutes away is MoA and some Filipino fast foods. I want to go back! Begging my mother to go! At first, I was disgusted because of the mess, but it’s my culture I embraced it. If your going to Manila, go to this hotel! It’s very clean, and has lots of nice people. (We lost our card once, and we told the staff, they were respectful and sent some guards to guard the room for the night.) There was this one time we were in the US they didn’t give a crap. This hotel is a must go! It has Starbucks and great restaurants in it! 😜 I also got to go too Dream Play! It was great! The internet wasn’t the best, it was moderate but! Who needs internet if you have so many things too do! I love the Philippines! If you asked me where I recommend you to travel, it will be the Philippines!
Just take either a white or yellow meter cab from the airport taxi rank. I took one from NAIA to Makati in rush hour traffic (over an hour) and it was about 350 pesos. City of Dreams is practically right next to the airport...meter taxi cost under 100.
HELLO PAOLO I AM GLAD YOU ARE FILIPINO . I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING YOUR VIDEOS ABOUT TOKYO JAPAN. I FIND THEM INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL, ESPECIALLY ABOUT AMEYOKO. WILL BE IN JAPAN FROM JULY 5 TO 11 2019.
You must be a Casey fan! We've use this song in our videos too! :) We actually aren't even heading to the Philippines, just checking out hotel reviews for inspiration when we head to Phuket and loving your review!
Hey rokwithus, glad you were able to get some inspiration from this video. I've actually filmed several hotel reviews. If you are interested in seeing more, check out my channel and you'll find a Hotel playlist. Thanks for watching and hope to catch you in the next one.
At the airport, there's fixed rate taxi and regular taxi. The regular taxi would taken you to your hotel about 200-250 pesos. Uber and Grab are great alternatives - as you experienced.
Hey Mark, maybe it's just me but I've had some bad experiences with regular taxis before leaving from the airport and going to the airport. Some of the regular taxis say that they will use the meter, but they don't turn it on and 1/2 way through the ride, they say it will cost 500+ pesos and try to negotiate with you. It's especially frustrating when you are trying to make a flight. Maybe it's because I'm not a local that they try to take advantage.I found that with Uber you don't ever have to negotiate pricing. Have you ever had this experience with regular taxis?
If they know that you're a foreigner, they will ask for a bigger fare which is a scam. The latest happen was from a Vlogger "Make it Happen Vlog" which was also televised nationwide here in the Philippines. The next time you visit here, just use Grab App and/or call your relatives to pick up you there, Beware of many airport taxis here, they're are scammers.
Hey Juu, it's too bad that travelers get taken advantage of. I'm glad to be able to share my experience with other travelers so they won't fall prey to this scam.
What was the color of your taxi cab? If it's yellow, then that's the airport taxi. The rates are much higher than the usual cab. From airport to your hotel, it would cost you about 1000+ pesos. It's not the same as the white taxi cabs. Better to get Grab or some other tranport app.
P1,500?! That's too much for a cab! COD is not even that far grom the airport. Good thing you took Uber. Some taxi cabs are really over priced, especially if they know you're a tourist, they'll not tell you the exact price 😑 But it's good you enjoyed your stay! 😊
Hey Russel, I agreed. I feel like taxis try to take advantage of foreigners. Uber is so helpful for travelers as pricing is standardized. Other than that, the stay was amazing. thanks for watching and hope to talk to you again soon.
Same thing in Thailand with Taxis. Thailand taxis could deny you or charge some expensive rates. Even when many youtube travel videos say make them turn on the meter and I said where I needed to go and to use the meter many wouldn't and deny us a ride.
Enjoyed watching your video! i love how your video transition to different scenes! you need to do a vlog tutorial or how you make your video look so unique like the beginning of this video, your name showed up on the building. So neat!. Thanks. ~Amy
Hey Amy. Good to hear from you again. Making the sign on the building isn't too difficult if you use Final Cut Pro. It's built into the software. But good idea about doing a tutorial on it. Thanks again for watching the video.
I super enjoy your videos but of course you only can upload so often. Would you mind telling me about any other RU-vid channels with similar content. I CAN'T GET ENOUGH ^.^=
Yeah... They're pretty chill here. I don't know why Manila's taxis are utter crap. It's also probably one of the reasons why East Asians like it here so much.
Hi Hill, my girlfriend sometimes helps with the camera. She's awesome. Otherwise, I just use a tripod and film myself. Talk to you again in the next video.
Hey 김동현, thanks for the feedback! I think expensive is a relative depending on your budget and hotel requirements. Check the prices here and let me know what you think: goo.gl/DeilPw
Haha. one night for 250$ is little bit expensive but it's fine because there r many things about buffett, pool and gym. If i go to Manilla, i would reserve that hotel(if i have a girl friend :)) thx. you r so kind.
In the Philippines, I think you get what you pay for. Hotel service was super friendly. I'm sure you'll "girlfriend" will appreciate it. Talk to you again soon.
So glad you stopped doing pseudo-Casey Neistat videos like this, this was a bit of a rough watch as I'm skimming through your 'back catalog". Your videos now are much, much better than this.
Hate to ask, since it has been a long time that you and your wife went to this trip, but why isn't your wife in any of the videos. I mean she is, but not all of them. We need a women's side of things as well, LOL
Hey iM COCO, thanks for super positive feedback. Hopefully one day I'll get there :-) Thanks for watching and hope to talk to you again in the next video.
"Didn't get mugged"? Before even thinking about thrash talking my country and its people, check your grammar and spelling first. The Philippines is a very safe country, safer than most western countries.
Hey Jed, you're probably right, but as a tourist, the last thing you want to deal with is reporting taxis. Probably one of the reasons why taxi drivers target travelers. Thanks for commenting and hope to talk to you in the next video.
Paolo fromTOKYO our government actually encourages people to report it because the reason why they kept on doing it is no one complains about it,but I get what you mean ofcourse you dont want to waste your time going through all that, but theres a convenient way of doing it!,thats by just going to the website taxikick.com,from there you can just fill out a form and the details of what happened and then submit,so the website will then mail the report to the land transportation office and they will the one who will take care of it..if you want to know more just check the site...😁
Lol I remember when I rode the taxi going to Cubao from Caloocan. They also took us for a spin till the gas ran out and I have to help the taxi driver to push his taxi just to help it run again and I was going to be late for my bus trip. Most taxi drivers in Manila are effin' a-holes.
Pinoy taxi drivers scam Pinoys what more if you're a foreigner. What you need to do take.a.video or picture of the taxi driver and post it on social media 😂
