In this video we are hydro dipping stainless steel tumblers and adding Cerakote clear coat. We will be using Cerakote MC156 high gloss clear and MC157 matte clear. Don’t forget to stick around for the whole video because we are going to show you the difference in Cerakote clear coats and our Hydrographics clear coats, and of course the funny bloopers at the end of the video.
Check out some of our other cool hydro dipping videos. We upload at least one awesome project video each week. Here is a video suggestion that you may enjoy where we hydro dipped an Xbox and made it glow in the dark!!! :

Hi Lacy, I have never tried it to dip over epoxy before. I do know that not many paints and coatings will hold Hydrographics ink, and most just rinse right off.... which is why we use paints made specified for hydrographics. I would try buying some hydro dipping paint like OHW or Big Brain to spray over the epoxy first.

How does the licensing on base coats work btw? I was thinking of sending in a rifle chassis to get a kryptek pattern. Trying to find something that would work in both the wet & dry parts of the south-eastern U.S. like florida and the carolinas, but i feel like Highlander is too light and Mandrake is far to dark for anywhere that isn't dense shadowed foilage.
@AllThingsFunHydrographics

Female self taught hydro dipper here and I cannot nail the rounded object (insert cuss words) I think maybe I am under activating?? When I roll and submerge the film doesnt release from the bottom seam thus when I remove it by hand or rinse it leaves empty spots on the underbelly. Can anyone offer some advice before I lose my mind lol. Btw have OHW primer, activator and clear coat as per your recommendation but my film is from twn industries. Thanks ATF I have watched so many of your vids to even get this far lol
@AllThingsFunHydrographics
@AllThingsFunHydrographics 3 года назад
Most likely underactivated, which is common for most people starting out. Round objects are particularly difficult to master because you have have the perfect balance between rolling and being just enough under the water for the print to transfer correctly. Keep practicing and add a little more activator each time until you find the point at which it is over activated, then back off a little and you will figure it out. Just takes practice and lots of cussing, throwing things, more swearing, and an occasional punching the wall. Been there done that, still happens from time to time.
@5starfrenchies
@5starfrenchies 3 года назад
@@AllThingsFunHydrographics lmao sounds about right. I think I actually have the roll down fairly well but do think I am under activating and can't decide if I am using too little or too much film. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply really means a lot. I definitely foresee some more cussing today as I am sooo close to having it but not close enough as I am a perfectionist. Its actually pretty funny cuz I am the sweetest and typically zen lil thing but I had a full on meltdown the other day that even scared my ex. I was ready to punch walls and give up my whole business building puppy play gyms cuz I was just so mentally and physically exhausted from trying to complete this order of 6 custom hydro dipped ones lol. Alas, I will be heading outside in just a minute and try what you said. I also just ordered the ohw activator that I can put in the spray gun because I feel the aerosol can doesnt hit as evenly as I would like so (fingers crossed) may have to sign up for your business plan and get a video chat if I cant figure it out in a few days lol
@AllThingsFunHydrographics
@AllThingsFunHydrographics 3 года назад
@@5starfrenchies LOL, don't worry I still do plenty of cussing and throwing things, just part of it.... call it a right of passage in the hydro dipping world! I can just about bet the issue you are having is one of 2 things: 1 Underactivated or 2 spray gun is not set up correctly. Usually one of those things is the issue. I see more underactivation issues than anything when I train people. The hard part is the film looks exactly the same on the water with just enough activator versus too much, so it is a feel thing. You just have to practice a lot and get your pass speeds down to almost robot like and do the same thing every time. It will be frustrating and take time, but keep your chin up, throw some stuff, say a few bad words, take a break and try again later when your calm.
@5starfrenchies
@5starfrenchies 3 года назад
@@AllThingsFunHydrographics thanks so much I so appreciate the guidance. I'm soooo close aghh lol!! I found a good activation level but if I dont have it taped parts start floating away which tells me (i think) the gun isnt hitting the film evenly as some parts stay together fine. I'll try to post a vid later. I fabricated everything myself (well, a small amount of help from the ex but we wont count that cuz he has made me do it all anyways hahaa). I think because I can't fully use those guided metal slides you use to keep the film in place that isnt helping it from staying put also. I did fabricate a section off in my big fiberglass double sink and keep the water at 89-90 so going back at it right now (send out the good hydro dipping juju lol)
