This was great! Thank you! I used to buy that solution a year ago. But for some reason about a month after using it, it wouldn't matter how long I left my contacts in the case, I felt my eyes burning and watery after putting them on. Not sure why since it was normal for me to place them in there for 8hrs at a time (overnight). I did feel the contacts were more comfortable up until this started happening.

The newer version of clear care with “hydra glide” has an additional wetting agent in it. Older school H2O2 didn’t have that and in my opinion was better. Some patients don’t like the wetting agent. That is likely what you had the reaction to! Thanks for watching!

So informative, thank you v much. We don't have a wide variety where I'm from so I buy what I can overseas. First time I've seen HP mentioned on a bottle so I decided to search up on it. I'm a bit hesitant as I've been using MP for nearly a decade and haven't had massive issues but then you mentioned the end-of-cycle dryness irritation. That's exactly what I have! My monthlies are 3 weeklies and I chalked it up to dry desert weather differences. I have a twin pack of Clear Care (no hydraglide!) and a CVS branded one that I'm excited to use thanks to your video. You mentioned the possibility of using HP once a week- does that mean I can alternate MP and HP cleaners by day? Alternatively lets say I decide to use it daily after setting for 6+ hours. When taking the lenses out of the HP, can I rinse it with MP? What's the average age for the "neutralizing" piece? I have two 12oz bottles but one lenses case.

Awesome video! It would be cool to have you as my optometrist.. my eye doctor gave me that solution on my last visit, and I had no idea it had hydrogen peroxide..

This video was so helpful! I've been using AO Sept (Clear Care in the US) for many years now and I feel a huge difference using this compared with MPDS systems like Bausch and Lomb BioTrue. Unfortunately I had a nasty allergy to BioTrue which ripped a few tiny holes in the front of both corneas. I thought it was normal for contact lenses to sting a lot and remain like that for a bit while using contacts. Since the switch to AO Sept hydrogen peroxide, I realised its far from normal for eyes to be irritated like this. I've not had any issues since the swap and it's helped me stay very compliant with lens wear now to stick to around 8-10hrs of wear over 5 days. My eyes are so much more comfortable. If you do splash any un-neutralised hydrogen peroxide in the eye, then its a pain you will NEVER ever forget! I should also mention, once the bottle is used up throw away the lens case and use a fresh new case with new solution everytime as that platinum catalyst disc will not be anywhere near as good next time and its more sanitary.
@curlyhairdudeify
@curlyhairdudeify 6 месяцев назад
Hydrogen peroxide sterilizes, and breakdown into oxygen which also sterilizes. The "platinum" catalyst is pretty much eternal.

On a bottle of clear care it states that neutralized solution shouldn't be reused, yet I've had the habit rubbing my contacts using that solution to broke up deposits before placing them in their respective baskets for cleaning using H2O2. Is this bad practice in that I'm breaking up deposits with saline with deposits in it from the night before?

I just did it too. Never used clear care before and just thought it was like my other multi purpose. Never even knew this could happen and now it burned my eye. I thought I could use a drop in it to lubricate as it was dry coming out the case. Omg the pain was unreal I thought my eye melted and I couldtn even open it to get the lens out for a few mins it's like a day now and still red 😓. My own fault for not reading and just assuming it was like other stuff I used

You can’t use this midday, it needs to sit for atleast 6 hours for the hydrogen peroxide to neutralise when it reacts with the disc at the bottom of the contacts holder

Does regular hydrogen peroxide work and if so will it neutralize in a plastic case overnight like the one you talk about here?
@LynxStarAuto

What most of us do is buy the kit, and then just make your own solution at home. Take a granule of baking soda, mix it with your saline solution, and use the case.
@samyahknotts4728
@samyahknotts4728 3 года назад
So when the contacts have been neutralized after 6hrs minimum, you can put it in your eye? What if it was after 10hrs? Would it be safe?
@EyeSchoolwithDrD
@EyeSchoolwithDrD 3 года назад
Yes, once the solution has neutralized, the resulting solution is saline and safe to use. I wouldn't go over 10-12 hours, I would transfer to a MPDS like Biotrue or Puremoist for longer term storage.

How often do you need to change the solution? vs a multi-purpose solution? I don't wear contacts daily, so do I need to change the solution every day even if I don't wear my lenses that day?

All contact lens solutions (MPDS and H2O2) should be changed out daily, regardless of whether or not the contacts have been worn.

I hear a lot that If the contact lens is stored for along time and eventually expired that it's not the lens itself but actually the saline which the contact lens came in is the one has expired, is that scientifically true?
@Channel24377
@Channel24377 2 года назад
That’s a good question because if it’s the saline then could they be cleaned with clean solution and be used? That would be the question. maybe they can still be used after thorough cleaning. Also I think rinsing lenses after them being put on the contact case is abused to gain more money why you ask? Because it’s sus to me how at first the makers of contact solutions first said there was no need to rinse or rub contacts that the solution itself would do the cleaning but then after came out saying you had to rub and rinse and I saw one of their commercials on how to rinse contact lenses and they used almost half the bottle to rinse now that would cause people to buy solution way more often then if we didn’t rinse also I think we should rinse but not use tons of solution for rinsing that’s insane since they are not cheap either I think the company thought if they came out saying to rinse a lot the solution will finish faster and they would make more money.

Dr., what if I am using a 3percent food grade oxygen peroxide ? Would I be ok with just using the regular contact cases and use this hydrogen peroxide for daily clean as if I were using a regular contact solution or do I have to get that “cage” contact case with the neutralizer. I am just thinking that the food grade hydrogen peroxide will not have the fillers that the regular HP does 😬

I woke up 330 am for work and grabbed an old contact lens case that had the poroxide in it and not a metal one. Put it in my left eye and felt pain immediately. Then like a retard grabbed the red capped bottle to rinse out after I dug out the lens and fell to the ground in pain. I then right away rinsed with water for about 30 mins straight. 24 hrs later still in pain. Any advice besides going to doc
