This is my Dutch Bucket hydroponic set up in the Barn.
I grow the plants in 7 mm scoria which I recycle each year.
The scoria is washed to remove any accumulated salts from the previous year before being used again.
The nutrient reservoir holds 100 lt which is pumped into the buckets via a 2500 lt/hr aquarium pump.
The nutrient drains back into the reservoir through PVC pipes.
In temperatures up to 30 degrees C.,
a) the plants are watered three times a day, for 15 minutes each watering
b) there is no shade cloth on the roof of the Barn.
When the temperature reaches above 35 degrees C.,
a) the plants are watered five times a day, for 15 minutes each watering
b) a covering of 50% shade cloth is added to the roof of the Barn
This is this seasons crop of tomatoes growing in Dutch Buckets.
Lebanese Cucumbers are coming along well also beside the tomatoes.
Also the last couple of cauliflowers from our winter planting are shown.
