“They have taken the Bridge and the Second Hall. We have barred the gates, but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes... Drums. Drums in the deep. We cannot get out. A Shadow moves in the dark... We cannot get out... They are coming.“
Darkness covers you in every corner The putrid smell of blood swarms your nose You hear something faint... A bongo... A bongo drumming... it's almost beckoning...like it's calling for someone...calling...for you... Chains are rattling... Scythes are slicing... The bongo beating faster... The dead are rising once again... Creatures observing you from the dark, studying you... The bongo beating faster... The ground looks deceptive... You feel things moving, but you do not see it... The bongo beating faster... The souls of the damned cry... They cry for more blood... More meat for the slaughter... Another soul to join their endless number... ... ... ... The Drumming stops... ... ... ... The ground stops shaking... ... ... ... You feel watched... ... ... ... It knows you are here... ... ... ... It's right in front of you...
This game was always far more effective than any horror game, maybe because you don’t expect it coming from a family friendly game like Zelda is supposed to be, I had nightmares of deadhand and other creatures of similar nature when I was younger and tbh it still gives me the heebiegeebies knowing the truth about kakariko and what redead ACTUALLY are, not clay that’s cap.
Sans Nom holy fuck, dude! You’re right! I never realized it either! Damn, now I’m not sure I can bear fighting him again! I always thought his decapitated stump was his eye.
Sans Nom Same here lol. I never realized either until I watched a RU-vid video talking about bongo, different kinds of videos theories and stuff about who bongo might really be, and that detail was pointed out. Never thought of it that way until then. I wonder though. What about the rest of his body? O.O
I hear a theorie who says Bongo Bongo was a girl. And when we affront her , we can heard a sound from Bongo Bongo = she weep because she became a monster ( nice theorie , sorry for my poor english)
I love the shaddow temple because it's like a dark souls area the game doesn't outright tell you what it once was. It's left up environmental storytelling. The shaddow temple was once a dungeon for the most vile criminals in all of hyrule and enemies of the royal family. People were taken down there to be tortured and executed by the sheikah. But due to the dark magic that envelopes the temple the people who were killed there have a habit of not staying dead so the temple was shut down and sealed away to be lost to time only that the people who once slept there still walk the bloody halls. The same goes for bongo bongo if you look off of his design it is implied he was tortured by being hung upside down from the ceiling and had his hands cut off and finally was executed via beheading. But now he's awake and ready for revenge.....
Honestly, it makes me kinda sad that the encyclopedia decided to straight-up tell us what happened in the Shadow Temple. The mystery of it, the question of “who would do such a horrible thing and why?” adds so much to the horror! It’s just so, boring I guess, to be given a straight answer. I’ve seen so many creative theories trying to piece together the lore of the shadow temple that, if I just said them without context, they’d seem absolutely absurd! But then you read all the evidence, and think “huh, this person has a good point.” Then you see another, even more outlandish theory, and you think “wait, this person has a point too!” The endless possible interpretations make it so fun! So, I personally like to treat even the more official outside lore as just another theory to consider. It’s so much more interesting to try to work out these mysteries ourselves! Sorry to dump this entire rant into your comment lol, I just grabbed at the first excuse I found to ramble on this topic
I used to hear this if I put my ears underwater in the bath as a kid, I think it was mainly the fact that I had a plastic toy boat that would infrequently tap against the side of the bath while I breathed. As a young kid it reminded me of part of the percussion for the original of this song.
+RussianCommissar I had to do it the very first time I played OoT, because I was a stupid kid. But make it a priority to play a classic game like OoT once every year, and you memorize every little illusion.
I really hope that the certain someone who is making a totally legit remake of this uses this for the shadow temple. This really does the original justice, but is even more terrifying.
This is sending chills down my spine. This is giving me flashbacks from when I was a kid just being terrified of even progressing through the dungeon, the music being one of the reasons. You really nailed the creepy atmosphere in this cover. Keep up the great work!
Yo that hits absolutely different if you play it in an entirely dark room with headphones on full volume :0 Anyone still watching? No just me? Ok then xD
I cant understand why they don’t remake oot it’s the best Zelda game right next to majoras mask, a literal masterpiece and one of the best game’s ever made.
Damn is that great. I felt the fear. For the time hearing this i was the kid me from then and feared this temple. Absolutely great. Even now at 30 years old, i still fear that one temple slightly
How afraid I was as a kid, when I first met the zombies in the kings crypt. When I got to the shadow temple, I knew I would encounter more of them, but as s grown up Link, I wasn't that afraid though...
I didn't think this theme could be anymore more creepy. Once again, you prove me wrong. It's gotta be the bongos. Just imagining that thing staring at Link the whole time and doing his bong-solo gives-a-me the jibblies.
People say the Shadow Temple is the scariest. But as a kid, the Forest temple scared me more. Something about that theme song that was mysteriously creepy.
hmmm if i could work in nintendo i should say hey we need a new version of ocarina of time what about with Twilight Princess Graphics and do it as a new remake besides 3DS version and we put hylian ensemble music there
eh do it Elder Scrolls style and throw Unreal Engine 4 in there then you got yourself serious business thats going to nuke the market so hard Sony and Microsoft would get the kick in the ass of their lives, would be nothing but blurry sight in Nintendo's mirror thats how good it would be but Nintendo being Nintendo "nope" THEY ARENT EVEN TRYING :v
This is absolutely beautiful! I just found your channel & it’s bringing me back to all my childhood days! Thank you, for bringing this to me! Never stop your passion because I can tell your absolutely amazing at it! I wish you nothing but the best!!! Have a great day & remember that YOU ARE AWESOME!!! Thank you again, I’m going to listen to everyone of these songs & you should do Termina fields! That is a great mix between adventure & haste towards your next adventure! Be safe during these times I’m writing this !
I wonder if Ganondorf knew about Hyrule and the Shiekah with the dark secrets concealed within the shadow temple, or how valuable was bongo bongo since he was executed by some unknown treason. I always thought bongo bongo was a Shiekah who betrayed Hyrule, but that is only been my speculation since his eye closely resembles the lens of truth. Maybe bongo bongo knew too much once he gained some forms of insight perhaps which would lead to his removal from Hyrule.
I loved loved loved the shadow temple, the way it was introduced, the ocarina song, the adventure, the mind fuckery, 100% my shit when I was a little'n
