this whole game gives me this warm feeling of laying on a tree in the shade playing video games and i realize the tree has eyes so i raise my arms a bit so it can see what im playing
The visuals, the music, the whole "1990s MTV" look and feel… I often look for games with sophisticated gameplay/story/narrative but this trailer made me go buying the first Hylics game. I don't finish it yet as I really enjoy just being in its pastel-colored world with its strange logic and lovable characters. I can't wait for its sequel after the recent 2nd trailer!
Having recently re-watched Vinny's stream playthrough of the first game, I think I know what Mason's art style kinda makes me think of: playing with LEGO pieces as a child. Whenever I built things, whether they were buildings, robots, or whatever, the initial end result wouldn't be exactly as I envisioned it, but I would then go back and add a few parts here and there to try and "refine" it, as if I was onto something, even if I wasn't sure what that "something" was--I just knew that I wanted to make the best version OF it. As "weird" and "strange" as the environments and characters of Hylics are, there's clearly a lot of time and care put into them. Would "controlled chaos" be the right term to describe it?
everyone's already said enough about the visual style so ill just say the music is extremely fitting of the visuals, everything is so surreal and the music seems to almost act independent of the visuals, which, ironically, makes them more potent i love it all, and i can't wait to see that face melt a thousand times
I have never heard of this game, I found this video in the recommended tab while watching an old Sunny D commercial from 2010, Im very intrigued though.
I wonder what their society is like. Their world is surreal but they know no other. Are these bizarre shapes familiar to them? Does the ad-lib music make them ache for home? Is there some semblance of internal consistency that even us outsiders may acclimate to, like moving to a country with a different culture, or will the world of Hylics remain alien and untouchably foreign? In a world that needs adventure, Mason Lindroth provides. I look forward to seeing some answers, maybe, eventually.
I think about this quite often. Seeing as in the last hylics game, few had actual lines of dialouge that made sense. I like to think that few actually have thoughts, such as dedu and pon. Som and the lady in the house seem to be the last surviving humanoids, and i think that the creatures just roam around, speaking nonsense. Maybe they do not know that this world is different. Perhaps they just know nothing different, and arent questioning because they have none. Just my thoughts.
My best guess of why attacking in the overworld was removed is because it would have make the fights pointless since you could kill them more quickly shooting at them
it's awesome the level of detail put in here, in terms of textures and the feeling of depth, and how visuals work along with music to create this awesome atmosphere
Wanna hear a dark head cannon, Fleam was obviously a cut party member, but a weird misshapen version of him is an enemy in the final game (i forget it’s name but it has Fleam in it) so my head cannon is that Fleam and Decres went out to try and stop Gibbys resurrection a while before Wayne did, and they were killed during their quest. Fleam was mutated and Decres is the dead Wayne you get meat from in the afterlife.
I'm looking forward to get my hands on this game. Looks like a great improvement over the first one in every way. Abstract characters and their animations make the game really stand out.
I'm really excited to see how our favorite archaeologist-turned-warrior Dedusmuln will be introducing himself. Also really diggin' Wayne and Somsnosa's new outfits as well.
I cannot wait for this game to come out, the character designs, the actual style, and even the music still amazes me and I cannot wait to play this when it comes out.
You are my favorite artist, and I have always been acutely interested in your style. I am so excited for this game, and so glad that Hylics is getting a sequel!
@@swampwaffle74 "normal pongorma" by what your tryna talk about is different, the one you think is "normal pongorma" was a cancelled party member named fleem
It's so nice to feel true hype for an upcoming game again. I lost all hope in the Triple-A game industrial complex a long time ago. I always wanted to make games myself, and have to some extent prior to my career, so I always give my full love and support to all of the incredibly dedicated and talented indipendent game-makers out there. Hylics has become one of my most favorite obsessions.
It's kinda like Earthbound, but only the weird parts, and the weird parts are even weirder... Looks amazing! No. It looks majestic! But seriously, when does it come out?
Stunning and fluid animation. Overworld looks gorgeous as well. And YOU CAN GUN PEOPLE DOWN IN THE OVERWORLD TOO. I am ready for another wild ride, mr. Lindroth, oh yes please.
Holy shit. I have never been so excited for a game. This is pretty much the perfect sequel for Hylics; I never actually expected it to be like this (i.e. Pseudo 3D with full animations) but even though I secretly hoped for a Hylics 2 that was very similar to the original, this one seems to be just fine. (PS please release the soundtrack on steam, i will pay ludicrous amounts of money for it.)
Hylics 2 is the game i never knew i wanted but i have always prayed for. Music: Great, Art: Great, and it has character designs that are almost impossible to lewd (though i doubt artists will have much difficulty in correcting me on that last statement considering the kind of things that can be found on DeviantArt) As well as Being a fun, quirky game that doesn't have to rely on 4th wall breaks, deep sinister lore hidden within files or Tumblr catering like the other famous indie games of the time of this writing, instead relying on abstract randomness to fill the players imagination with. (Though i may be wrong on that, my memory of the first game is a bit hazy at best) Thus allowing the player to make up their own interpretation (however, i am not speaking out of hate for the other indie games of this time ((Undertale and DDLC, though the former has a mostly dead fanbase by now)) as i very much love most of these indie games, rather, i am speaking out of fear for what these indie games usually become. I just don't want a repeat of the travesty of FNAF that plagues the other famous indie games of today. But i am sure that i'm probably making too much of a deal out of this, after all, this game is too far of the the comfort zone of most of the "Toxifiers" as i will call them. As they are more attracted to witty humor, random humor ( to a degree) and horror ( any kind is fine, but jump scares usually do the trick of attracting them, as chances are a youtuber such as Markiplier or Pewdipie would play the game and cause the "Toxifiers" to rally around it. Now, chances are this game will attract attention from the "Toxifiers" from let's plays but as with games like this such as Space Funeral and LISA, they are usually too fucked up and different from the norms they are used to. (With the exception of LISA, which somehow manages to have a less toxic fanbase despite the attention ((or lack of if you want to be real)) ) Thus causing them to leave too quickly to cause any real damage. (And to be honest, this game is simply too abstract and weird for any of the normal toxification methods to work. ((Cringy fangirls/Meme animation things(((don't really know what they're called and don't care enough to find out))) and bad fetish art.) Then again, i'm probably just talking out my ass, so feel free to correct me on any of my statements. I would actually enjoy some criticism on this.
TJZ2017 Yeah, but i reckon not to get any hopes up just yet, there is still a long many months or so away until it releases. Or pehaps weeks. But you're probably right. Then again, people said the same about DDLC at one point, and that fandom is already showing the signs of toxification (not all of them, but the key milestones at least).
TJZ2017 Well... Not really, no. The original Hylics was just like this, abstract and up to interpretation, and also, while on the subject of lewding, as Rule 34 states, if something exists, there is porn of it. This isn't inherently good or bad, it's just a general rule that is true on the internet. I don't get why people don't understand that but they should. Lewding does not equal a toxic fanbase (most of the time, depends on the kinds of characters in the games that are lewded) But erotic fanfictions and rabid fangirls/fanboys shipping their OC's with characters are just a big NO.
