THISSS is a title. It instantly makes me think of how Supreme started off as a one-off store in NY to cater to the hip hop kids and skater kids in the 90’s, and their artsy and weird designs were specifically created by people who were a part of these groups. But it’s been so bastardised to the point where they can put a big ‘s’ on a t-shirt and resellers start licking their lips lmao
One big question, is it still used to this day? A lot of rappers used to have it back in 2016-2018 but after that, I see none of them using it. (I'm deadass serious, not jk. Did it lose relevance?)
@@rolyx23 I don’t actually know. I saw Tyler, The Creator wearing a supreme cap on his ig story a few weeks ago, but I can’t think of anything else. The other places I see supreme nowadays are on youtubers lol
I literally went in to see parasite without seeing any previews, people told me it was good but they didn’t say why. That day I was planning to go see that movie where that kids imaginary friend was hitler but I chose parasite......lemme tell you when I left the theatre I was soooooooo happy and I was so surprised and mesmerized. Experiences like that can’t be duplicated.
Parasite is amazing and totally deserved that Oscar, but I would also recommend Jojo Rabbit if you still haven't seen it bc (not to hype it up or anything) it's also very good lol
I went in blind seeing Parasite too and my mind was blown. I saw the trailer before, but I didn’t know what to make of what the movie could be. I watched it, and every time I came up with a theory as to what would happen, I was wrong, and I LOVED THAT. I love movies that subvert all of my theories and expectations. JoJo Rabit was a really good movie too. The part with his Mom was so heartbreaking.
Same, I was at the cinema with my girlfriend and she was like "you wanna watch this Korean movie I heard it's good" and I wasn't ready for that shit at all
I still haven’t seen parasite but i remember when I saw the trailer on tv I was 100% sure it was gonna be amazing and win awards. I barely watch movies and have no streaming services though but I still need to watch it, i keep procrastinating 😭
I never LOVE an album first listen. I have to digest it. Also i learned years ago to go into things with no expectations. If i got even one or two songs out of WLR id have been happy. Plus people just wanted "Die Turnt". After a month turns out i actually love it. I love his new creative direction.
@@MexicanMartialArts it's a good show tho. But you should watch something because you want to, not because everyone's talking about it. Although i watched the show because everyone was talking about it.
@@MexicanMartialArts as someone who purposefully avoided watching it just because of the hype, and only this year finally watched it, watch it! The hype was deserved 😂
the problem causing this is that there is a LOT of incredible art out there, and its easier for ANYONE to get that art out there than its ever been. therefore, the only way to get people to see that incredible art is to garner enough hype that it drowns everything else out-but then, that art doesnt FEEL as incredible as something u just “discovered”
I saw “sorry to bother you” without ANY knowledge of the movie beforehand, aside from a 30 second teaser trailer. holy shit was I blown away. one of the most clever, mind-blowing films I’ve ever seen
Same.. It overwhelms me if I try to do it when everything's coming out. Just sucks the joy out of it and that's not what music is supposed to be about imho
Im the opposite i listen to album's the moment they come out and stay off the internet i find sometimes i just hate songs because theyre overplayed i love to fall inlove with songs without the internet telling me i love them
I feel like this is why folklore and evermore were so huge for taylor, cause she dropped them out of nowhere with no singles so no one had any idea what it was gonna be
@@jhin4474 well to be fair Lover lost her a lot of money and was one of her least successful albums ever. But folklore/evermore and her re-recorded albums made twice as many sales as Lover and more
dude a video about the differences in movie trailers from the 90s and early 2000s compared to now would be awesome. I can never watch trailers now without acknowledging that most of the main plot points will likely be spoiled through it.
For anyone interested, Eddy Burback has a video titled "Remember When Microsoft Lied to Us?". It covers the Peter Molyneux and Kinect debacle in detail. Coincidentally, I watched that today for the first time ever, and was really surprised to find it in the latest NZ video as well. Liked them both, though.
@@nbabackcourtmedia they been waiting on rihanna adele and lorde for so long. i bet money that they gonna be skeletons and still be like "yo whens riri droppin?"
I remember first time listening to Call me if you get lost I had Igor expectations and when I first listened to it I was kinda bummed out however listening to it after all the hype was gone it became one of my most favorite albums ever.
@@ayanduale9747 Nah dude, when Bladerunner 2049 was coming out, everytime a trailer for it came on in theaters, I'd close my eyes and repeatedly cover and uncover my ear holes to distort the sound. It takes more effort but you can stay fresh for the good shit in theaters too. Only do this if you're prepared for whoever you're watching it with to roast your for it though lol.
"But if you enjoyed something in that moment, and realised later you don't liked it. At least it gave you that feeling already, nothing can really take that moment where you enjoyed it away from you." - Zathan Ned
Sometimes the collective group hype over something is worth the pain of it being absolute garbage. Like being with other people who are so excited and hopeful about something is just an amazing experience. Even if the thing we were hyped about ended up being so bad it broke my heart that experience of communal joy before the fall will stay with me forever.
Force Awakens was a great theater experience for me, as well. It was the first Star Wars I was able to see in a movie theater, so seeing the opening crawl in a theater for the first time was a magical experience!
This is an excellent point. If everyone is hyped, they all have their own theory as to what would make it perfect. When it doesn’t happen the way they think, even if it’s fine, they hate it. Good thought.
I watched “Interstellar” expecting nothing, and it was so amazing I knew I would watch every Nolan movie from that point on. So I was hyped for “TENET,” and I guess you know the rest
7:17 I completely relate to this, I was into trav in 2014 (like days before rodeo) and I do admit I get a little pissed at the fortnite concerts, happy meals, all that stuff, but then again I'm happy for trav himself and the way he was able to become successful off of his sound.
thank u guys for watching another classic video. come watch me live right now to see me invest $100k into Gamestop www.twitch.tv/zednathan edit: 800+ people were watching my first stream ever!! thank you guys fr ❤️
It should be a historical drama about how the inventor of sliced bread trying to open his or her community to the possibility of eating bread in a different way.
@@theoxyscape7057 "Listen, I know people are used to slicing their bread themselves, but... If we do it for them, every slice will be the same, Jerry. Imagine, nice thin slices... Every... Time! No muss, no fuss." "You mean, I'll never have to eat rye with a side of pastrami, like the ones those cheapskates at the deli made for me today ever again?" "Exactly! It will be the greatest innovation for the bakery industry since wrapped bread!" "Hmmm... *lights cigar, leaning forward over desk* I like the way you think, kid. I think you just got your first investor." *aggressive handshake*
it was my birthday when you dropped this, I appreciate you a lot for this video because this is one of the reasons why I don't really watch trailers or focus on opinions about stuff until I have my own
I am always hype for my birthday because i like to celebrate my life. But my birthday is also Christmas Eve so my expectations for it are never that high because i really can’t do shit bc of Christmas. 😩
really surprised you didn't mention Suicide Squad, I was *crushed* when that movie came out because the trailers were so good and the Internet hyped it up so much, only for it to be awful. conversely, I knew basically nothing about Birds of Prey before watching it and ended up loving it
it feels like it should be a pc game. i got a 50inch tv and good eyes but i struggle to read any of the text they throw up on there. it’s not a garbage game but it’s a bit of a chore to play
I thought the exact same thing about WLR when it came out. I woke up on Christmas morning and decided to give it a listen. I wasn't a huge Carti fan at the time, but I was interested to see how it would turn out knowing that it had been one of the most hyped albums of the past year. I went into it blindly with no expectations and I ended up really enjoying it and the production. Once I finished it I went online to see other people's thoughts, needless to say I was surprised for sure. I know a lot of diehard fans went into it with impossible expectations after the buildup of hype for nearly 2 years, stayed up until midnight and then put their opinion out based off the first 2 songs, just to be first. And because of that, a lot of regular listeners most likely went into it knowing it would be trash based off the opinions put out that early. So I'm happy that I went into it with no expectations and I now try to do the same for nearly everything that catches my interest because of this incident.
God of War 2018, It Takes Two, and Minecraft are my favorite games. They blew my mind because I don't know what are they about. I just randomly watched playthrough from RU-vid -- yes, I can't play them because I don't have PS4/good PC. Except for Minecraft -- and I immediately fell in love with both playthrough of GOW and It Takes 2. For Minecraft, back in 2014 I remember I watched my friends play it and I say "the hell is this game? Why everything is blocks?" I didn't want to try the game until the next day and oh boy, nowadays even though I don't really play it a lot like I used to I always up to date with the game
Late as hell comment but i remember when i was first getting into kanye back in 2016 and saw that his new album was releasing and thought to myself "hey this is the best time to get into his music" and went and researched his stuff (like asking what album i should start from etc...). i remember seeing how much people thought mbdtf is an unrivalled masterpiece and how it's the best ye album so i was hyped to hear it and saved it for last. but sadly, when i actually listened to it i really didn't understand how it's a masterpiece at all. and still don't in all honesty, i liked the songs, Don't get me wrong, but how it's different from any other really solid pop rap album is beyond me. i understand the role it plays in kanye's life/career but i just don't see it being the masterpiece that so many people made me believe it to be. now with that being said, i'm like 99% sure that if i went and listened to it without seeing all those claims of it being that good i would FOR SURE liked it a lot more than i do now.
While is sucks to do taxes, worry about my budget, and attend way too many boring work meetings, I would not trade the sense of agency, empowerment, and identity that adulthood has brought me for anything. For me, growing up meant realizing that I can literally do anything I want. It's been really liberating learning to reject a lot of the invisible constraints on my sense of self-worth and ambitions that were indoctrinated into me by virtue of the family/society that I happened to be born into.
Why do people forget how much it SUCKED to be a kid?? It is half pros half cons but in the moment it felt like all cons... For example do you remember that when you were a kid... Everything that you were concerned about is insignificant in retrospect??
I remember I first listened to WLR. I was so hyped up and got so disappointed then woke up the next morning played it again and actually started enjoying it
The best solution for this never watch any trailers for movies/games or follow the hype on social media apps over a new album just be surprised when it comes out and hope it doesn't disappoint you.
I'm very happy for the fact that I don't feel hype for most things. It's mostly a ''Oh, it's coming out on this date! Nice, I can't wait'' except I can. I get excited for the things but the mind doesn't go much further than that. And honestly, after seeing this video and the one about waiting for artists to drop a new thing, I'm really glad of it. There's just so much media to consume while you wait, it's chill
100% agreeeeeeeee. I feel like every time an album or movie or whatever comes out,and i had no idea what to expect, i enjoyed it for what it is. It is a surprise at least and a life changing experience at best
this is exactly how i feel about cowboy bebop. it is my top 5 best animes of all time. id even say its top 10 of anything ive watched. but people that have never seen it always say it is the best anime ever after hearing one person say its goo. but when they finally watch it they are disappointed because it didnt live up to their crazy expectation
I still remember when BTS was working on their first full album in 2014 and I expected their title track to be inspired by og hip hop, bc at that time they were learning about hiphop through Warren G and Coolio's mentorship. I was so hyped for it, but then they dropped it and the song had a rock base... I was so disappointed. I waited a month before giving it another try and then I loved it. It still has one of my favourite choreos of theirs.
That movie "The Personal History of David Copperfield" had THE MOST misleading trailers. The trailers and reviews make it look irreverent, but it was just like... a David Copperfield story. I wish I hadn't gone in with any expectations, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.
Theater opened up in the middle of the April where I live. Chose a movie at random to watch with absolutely no concept of what the plot was. Mortal Combat. I genuinely enjoyed it. First time in a long time I’ve just enjoyed a movie without expectations.
I grew up reading the Green Lantern comics and I was so excited for the Green Lantern movie when it came out-and we all know how that went. I actually was digging through old mementos I have and found the ticket stub I kept from that movie. Shit’s a relic, I have to keep it.
