Here's an even crazier stat....In the last 23 years, the Browns have played in exactly 3 playoff games. They are 1-2 in those games. The Texans, a team that didn't exist until 3 years after Cleveland's re-entry into the league have doubled those numbers, appearing in 6 playoff games with a 4-2 record. Let's see if DeShaun Watson, a guy with ties to both teams, can help turn that around....

@@kkogge05 frankly, it wasn't even "horrible patience" but rather terrible decision making. He so often would make the wrong choice between running or staying in the pocket too long dependent on where he might find the big play instead of taking what he could get. In this game, one great example is the bootleg where he has a straight shot run for the first, but rather attempts a deep pass which fails.

Some notes from this game about Manziel: Good: -great quickness and agility. Can make people miss in and outside of the pocket -good ability to throw on the run. Loves to extend plays and is good at it. Can complete passes to recievers with pressure directly in his face -good striaghtline speed. Can be a part of the run game -quick release. Helps with timings and fitting the ball through tight windows Bad: -abysmal pocket awareness. Has no idea when to step up or out. If receivers aren't open, he bails from the outside every time. -doesn't theow the ball with tons of velocity -has no internal clock, pressure will almost always hit home if from behind him -overall mechanics are poor. Maintains an "independent contractor." Not enough moving parts with his throwing motion -decision making is all over the place. Is willing to fit the ball into nonexistent windows, leading to turnovers -does not go through reads. If the first read isn't open, he either forces it or scrbles from outside the pocket -maintains poor control of the ball. Way too loose in the pocket, which explains fumble issues -lack of knowledge of the playbook. If you can tell that a QB doesn't know the playbook just by watching him, there's a serious problem Final eval: Manziel had some talent, but had a multitude of on-field and off-field issues coming out of college. I believe he was always overrated, and with his lack of work ethic and care for the game, the Cleveland Browns organization, and his teammates, he spiraled out of control and it makes sense why he never made it in the league.
@willtaylor6793
@willtaylor6793 2 года назад
he should've always been a project QB coming out of college, whatever scouts thought otherwise should've been fired. It's so easy to see that so much of what he did in college was either due to having such a good o line/receiver corp at A&M or simply being more athletic than college athletes, and anyone with a brain could've seen that.
@willtaylor6793
@willtaylor6793 2 года назад
you have to admit tho, even if he was extremely polished the browns still would've done bad, they had no consistent receivers except for josh gordon, an overall terrible o line and lack of running back play. No QB can succeed without at least a decent supporting cast.

Heres a Manziel hot take...Manziels college play and college career was a pre cursor to how modern NFL teams views QBs. Manziel played with Kingsbury in college, who would later coach Mahomes at Texas Tech. Mahomes, like Manziel played in a spread offense and was allowed the freedom to play backyard football throwing the ball unconventionally at different angles and positions. Once Mahomes took over the NFL, it completely changed how teams scout and coach up the next generation of QBs.

I generally root for the Browns, I love an underdog story (I’m a Vikings fan, so I live it already), but I did not during the era (more like the minor setback) of Johnny Manziel. I’m glad he didn’t pan out. He needed to be knocked down a peg and his time in Cleveland and lack of ANY interest afterwards did that, at least to some extent. And then he flamed out of the CFL and the AAF

As a lifelong Browns fan, this was the beginning of the darkest period ever. The GM forcing Johnny to play, Kyle Shannahan and Mike McDaniel wasted their time here, the beginning signs of the 1-31 happening. I knew we were screwed when Kyle made a PowerPoint highlighting everything that needed to change with the franchise on the way out. Oh and don't forget about Josh Gordon as the biggest WHAT IF EVER!

I could had imagined how frustrated the browns offensive players had to be. From the clip I watched, the line gave him enough time, he just couldn't read and put the ball at the right spot. What a failure this draft had become.

Baker proved that Johnny could’ve found a decent starting role IMO. It’s a shame his demons ruined his potential.

The thing is the browns had the chance to get Derrick Carr or Jimmy G or a decent Wideout like Adams when they took Johnny Football in 2014

Even without that, they traded down to get him when he would definitely have been available in a later round if they did want to check him out.

Johnny Manziel might've been something if he took life and the game more seriously instead he's slinging the football for some janky live action e-sports thing?

Johnny football was a fratboy myth that never showed talent in college aside from being some mediocre athlete running around and chucking the ball up to Mike Evans

If the Browns would’ve came out after pre season and said we’re 100% going with Brian hoyer as the starter and kept that energy the whole year they would’ve made the playoffs. That was a good enough browns team to do it but too many distractions

The Bengals were up 23 to 0 with 2 minutes left in the game and they had the ball and still had Andy Dalton in playing quarterback. He played all the way to the end of a blowout win

In fairness to Johnny Manziel the defense put a rookie making his first start in the NFL in a 17-0 hole by the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Veterans struggle when they have to press could you imagine making your first start and have to?
