Although I have never been a great lover of sports-themed video games (except car racing), I simply loved this game when I was a kid. The idea to running my character in sync with the speed the keys were tapped, gave me an idea of great empathy with the game and interactivity (in an age in which I didn't even know the meaning of this word). Also, I don't know why, but I really liked those little men, athletic versions of Super Mario, all of them equal to each other but the colours. From an early age I noticed a surprise: sometimes is visible a the little man with the key that is seen running under the audience. He is the protagonist of another arcade game: Tutankham (1982 Konami). A real Easter egg!

So nostalgic.. I was so bad at this game, but I enjoyed it like a cold beer in a Summer's afternoon

Master of this game in my childhood . None of the boys and girls, was even remotely close to beat my records.

I thought the third javelin throw was going to be an attempt to stab the bird.

Surprised that someone who is so good at the earlier events hasn't mastered the hammer and high jump yet.

I would man the jump button while my buddy ran and we broke all high scores. Watching this brings back everything including that air conditioning old carpet smell of the arcades I played this in

I still have sore fingers thanks to this barsteward of a game.

I remember when the Olympics came when we was younger we all ran to the arcade to play this game to try to put our name up top for number one

Several summer in the 80's I had missing patches of skin in my palm.

me and my mates smashed all records on this game back in the 80s working together in game. 1 person would look after each button. To maximise speed we used a plastic coin tube over your finger and rubbed it across the button rather than tap it. Good times

I thnk this was also called "Track & Field" @the 7eleven where i used to play it as a kid...🙃

NO CHEAT and this is why: I remember playing it in a pup in Belgium back in '83-''84...also remember that instead of buttons to tap and run it had a joy stick you had to move quickly back and forward. This made it possible to run much faster/improve results during the various jumping / throwing events This coin up machine stood in a public pup, so fair play guaranteed an NO cheating

I recall that continually pressing the "run" keys during the various jumping / throwing events would improve the results.

Pressing the button halfway through the last box should get at least 90 m in the hammer throw.

I still have my Nintendo with me and there's something I can not let go

At the arcade we used a lighter to roll over the 2 buttons instead of trying to push them.

I used to put my fingers in a Kinder Egg capsule to slide over the run buttons, particularly good on machines where the buttons were arranged in a close triangle.

I always used to use a AA battery to run back and forth over the run button really fast to make the guy run faster
