Damn bro, who here saw this gem years ago and is now seeing it again today? Pure nostalgia.

This form definitely needs to make a return. Sonic has had a ton of different transformations over the years, from weird to cool, but the only form that rivals Super Sonic in iconicity and just being loved by fans is Hyper Sonic. Heck, with that Sonic Origins coming out soon, maybe it's time for this legendary form to start gaining some fresh traction in the series

Okay, this was definitely awesome. I mean I've seen people do Sonic transforming to the sound clip before, but doing it at the Knuckles boss in S3&K? Genius. Definitely genius. I think I like it a lot because that's basically what everyone would try to do at the Knux boss, and turn Super. Oh and the Simpsons thing at the end was also hilarious.

you know, I don't care what SEGA says. Hyper sonic is still canon to me, I say they missed a perfect opportunity to make sonic "canonically" stronger than he already is.

I think in actuality it was a coincidence that the people who conceived Sonic and Akira came up with similar ideas around the same time to power up their characters. Super Sonic originally had no impact on story, but was meant for a hidden level in the game that was scrapped. Also they had the idea for a hyper transformation (Supersonic to hypersonic which both refer to mach speeds) that made it into Sonic 3 & Knuckles, again no impact on the story itself (at first).
