January 2021 I did a chrome delete on Woman Skagg's vehicle. It's 11 months later, how's it holding up?

Great video. I am about to Hyperdip my emblems with bronze. I was thinking about doing the door handles as well...As you said the driver side door gets the most wear. Thanks again.

Hey Skagg's Garage, Gabe here from DYC. Just a tip for door handles... We take a strip of clear or black vinyl and run that on the back side of the door handle where your fingers will cause the most friction and wear through the dip. This will lengthen the lifespan of dip on that high friction surface. Keep up the great work!

This is Perfect. I have a 2021 QX80 that I bought the gloss black grill for and wanted to do a complete chrome delete with DYC. Yesterday my 2 cans of Piano Gloss just came in and I was searching for a good video that shows how well this stuff holds up over time. I may doble the layers up since I do go through a automatic car wash. I went for door handle covers as well because of it not holding up. Thank you!!

Shot my badges with Piano Black Hyper Dip this winter. Must have been too cold because it really didn't work well. Didn't really adhere to the badges, always peeling back away but, it would go back 'on'...sorta. However, as the weather has warmed up I decided to peel and re-shoot. With the warmer weather, the product is adhering quite well and fought back trying to remove it. Did the re-shoot last night and hope it last much longer.

Sounds like the temperature was the key. Also I taped off with about 2 inches for overspray, it helped to get the spray all around the edges of the badges. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Great video ! I suggest using 2K paint and 2 k clear on that rear piece. Will be a factory finish and strong. Spray paint will do the same thing in probably the same time frame and be a bitch to get off.

Thanks for watching! It's either pull them off and re-dip or vinyl wrap. I think the wrap is better longterm.

@@SWACBUZZ I think so, but the issue (my issue) was getting the coats in behind the handle as well.

Yeah yeah.... was planning on pulling them off all together and and paint. They are plastic.....wtf Infiniti? 😆

@@SkaggsGarage I've heard pulling them off you may have to take down the headliner and unscrew them from the inside of the vehicle and all that crap but im not 100% sure but if you do paint them you can leave them on the vehicle just mask them off real good ,how's hyperdip still holding? I'm definitely going to do this mod to my vehicle I'll just mask everything off and take my time

@@redciroc1211 Actually the silver part you see isn't structural is a plastic cover over the mounting points the cross bars. Don't know why Infiniti painted it silver. It just stands out ugly on every QX I see...

Is it possible for you to share in a bit more detail how you sprayed and trimmed/finished the logo and name plate on the back hatch? How do you trim excess without running a razor blade across clear coat and risk damaging that?

Sure! Believe it or not, the peeling process is the key. You peel it away from the badging or lettering, not pull it up from it. And since coating is thinner where the badging meets the car body, it naturally tears away at that seam. An example would be the shot where I was pulling it off the side where the 3.5 badging is. @@SkaggsGarage I believe I did but I “think” the trimming around the lettering in back hatch was cut out of the video. But I could be wrong. I’ll go back and rewatch.
