I am very grateful for my fellow Zebra Philip Quigley, a musician from Leyland in Lancashire UK, who wrote the music for this video and just for this channel. Thank you. I am delighted to have my own theme tune.

P.S. Please do check with your medical practitioner if you decide to try my exercises or courses - especially if you haven't exercised in a while, are pregnant, if you have a balance disorder, are new to exercise or have an ongoing medical condition that may affect your ability to exercise.

Tremendously insightful. I'm only just now becoming aware that my body mechanics aren't 'normal'. Both moving and being stationary, correctly, is exhausting!

Yes it’s a process to create a new normal now that you’ve become aware 👍

A physical therapist once told me to sit on your hands and try to feel the sits bones. If the sits bones are too far forward or back, they won’t rest on your hands, and you’ll know you’re pelvis isn’t oriented correctly. Just someone else’s explanation to add to this.

Just a suggestion here - for myself and others with HSD, I've noticed and heard that the "feeling it until we find whats right" part doesn't work when finding the middle, because we tend to feel that our over-compensating position is correct after years of wrongly conditioning those muscles. Not a criticism, just what I have noticed and heard from others. Love your tips and vids!

Wow! I'm not diagnosed but eds runs in my family genes. I never knew I've been doing this wrong for 41 years! Thank you for posting. My physical therapist is thinking I definitely have eds.

Huh. I've been over correcting. Which explains the strain on my low back. So sitting here now in proper neutral I feel my abs engaged and tension releasing in my low back (which hurts, but I know is ultimately the way out of pain). I really wish I had learned about hypermobility before I was 45 years old!

I'm guilty of both of these chair postures! I'll use this method tomorrow at work and hopefully find what's comfortable

Whelp I just found out why a straight backed, antique style chair causes a lot less back pain than a traditional office chair.

Does hypermobility give us a sense of crawling under our skin and in our joints, to the point it drives us crazy and we have to move in a hyper fashion to overcome its peaks to be able to sit or lie down again.. I'm asking 100% out of pure desperation as I've never met anyone who has both this and hypermobility troubles. Hope you don't mind me asking you. ❤️

I struggle with knowing what to do with my shoulders and upper back since my shoulders naturally hang down and forward and I don't know if I should/how to hold them up when I sit, or if I should just let them hang
@JeannieDiBonHypermobility
@JeannieDiBonHypermobility 3 года назад
We don’t want them to hang but be supported by the back.

I have the issue that I literally don‘t have the strength to sit normal, so I just take my legs up so they kinda hold me sitting lol

Yes, I tell people learning to sit is an exercise in itself. Takes time and training.

When I sit in the correct posture, my lower back feels sore. Is this normal?
@JeannieDiBonHypermobility
@JeannieDiBonHypermobility Год назад
I treat sitting as an exercise in itself. You have to train the muscles to hold you up. Start practising for a minute or so and build up.

Thank you Jeannie. Makes sense to slowly build up over time 👍
