I totally agree hyperpigmentation is such a difficult issue, I've been wearing sunscreen daily for almost 4 years, and I added in a strong retinoid as well, and while my skin is far from perfect, those two things alone have probably done more than any of the other serums, toners, essences, etc. I've tried. Thanks for sharing what worked for you! 🥰

The Onion pair pimple patch by Isntree is superior in my opinion. I’ve tried the ones in the video and if you haven’t tried those onion ones, they heal the pimples 2 times faster than any other I’ve tried. Just twice as effective so there is definitely a difference between the patches ☺️

The game changer for my skin/hyperpigmentation has been retinal + azelaic acid + lactic acid. I'm sure adapalene and tret work even better (same with glycolic acid) but my skin is sensitive. Alpha arbutin didn't do much for me

I'm still shocked at how much of a difference adding SK-ii made. I really do hate how expensive it is, but it is one of the rare products that deserves the hype it gets. I've been ordering a back-up from Stylevanna when I open one and it usually gets here a couple of days before I need it.

I know a couple of derms who are fond of the SK-II. Penn Smith Skincare did a video re: the Qure stamper and recommended something else as she had issues with the Qure one. I told her that I'd seen a couple derms recommend it and she couldn't understand why. But it's good when folks find things that work for them.

The qure system is convenient but pricey. Why not purchase a microneedling pen and use the needle cartridges? Each cartridges is fresh and sanitized, then you put your treatment of choice on after doing the needling. You just need a hyaluronic serum to use as slip during the needling process, you can set the depth, speed and even choose the number of needles in the cartridges you purchase. The pen is around $100, and the most common cartridges are $25 for 10 of them.

Loved this video as I’m fighting some stubborn age spots. Thanks for the helpful tips. And you look gorgeous! My question is have you ever worried about fake products from the overseas K-beauty, J-beauty suppliers? The price point in the SK-II for Stylevana and YesStyle is very attractive compared to western retailers.
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole 7 месяцев назад
Nope, and I have a funny story related to this! When I’ve done collabs with brands, I’ve been surprised to see their products come through these retailers. I asked one of the brands and they said it’s just easiest for them to tell yesstyle/stylevana/etc to ship to content creators as they work with those retailers so often Granted I only order from Vana, yesstyle, stylekorean, and Jolse - but I can attest all of those are great options!

High strength exfoliants, niacinamide (5-10%), and ascorbic acid have worked the best for me. Both 10% salicylic acid and The Ordinary AHA/BHA have helped to fade my stubborn hyperpigmentation after a few uses. What surprised me the most was when I tried The Ordinary 10% niacinamide, expecting nothing better than the 4% in my moisturizer, and was blown away by how much more effective it was at a high strength. Going from vitamin C derivatives (which helped a little) to ascorbic acid also gave me a "wow" effect within a few weeks of usage.

I don't suffer from many spots but primarily post-acne marks red hyperpigmentation, and I was BLOWN away by how quicky azelaic acid helped me! After only 8 uses (I'm still using it 4 times a week as my skin is getting used to it) some red angry marks that had been living rent-free on my cheek since a breakout from last summer (9 months ago!!!) simply faded and are now barely visible. I went into it completely skeptical and I was floored. I haven't used it long enough to have a complete opinion yet (and I'm not sure it can do much for brown spots), but for now it's very promising

@angelicaa3597 2 месяца назад
@@meganhickey6442 I plan to use it every day for two full months and then evaluate the process and decide on how to proceed! For now I am really, really happy with how it's going... My acne is much better, my face is so much less red and inflamed, and all my other skincare products seem to simply work better. After 2 months I think my next possibilities if I still want to target acne could be: -try using it twice a day instead of only once and seeing how my skin reacts -increase my retinol percentage as I've been stuck on 0.1 for too much time because of sensitivity -if acne is under control (as much as it can ever be) focus on fading remaining hyper pigmentation with another ingredient (curious about tranexamic acid since niacinamide doesn't seem to really work on me). Anyways I really recommend azelaic acid as it's the one ingredient that has never been suggested to me by dermatologists and yet it's the only one that has made a difference!

Hi Alice, I have been thinking about microneedling in a recent Korean product line but still feel a little skeptical of being a little too aggressive on my skin due to many actives in my skincare products. Perhaps I should tryout the 3 day or 1 week application and on that day ahead rest my exfoliating products and retinol serum to prepare? I do agree with the fermentation filtrate but the price point of SK II is a little too much. Nonetheless, I still continue with the ginsenocide ingredients with Whoo and Sulwhasoo products to combat hyperpigmentation and that really shows results when my acne scars heal a lot faster after breaking out.. Yup, I am also embarrassed to tell Beauty of Joseon that the ginseng toner just hydrates my skin. 😅 Subsequent ingredients like licorice root extract, tranexamic acid and tea tree oil extract also helps to let my skin recover fast. Sadly, my acne scars does not require the alpha arbutin to remove the melanin in my skin.

Thats why i swear by that stuff. I have wanted to try microneedling . I tried it when it first became popular but didnt stick to it . BTW Pennsmith has a video up on her channel that is about Cure but its an alternative that is way cheaper and she tells u why its better . Suposedly u shouldn't use gold hollow needles and she tells u what to get microneedle wise that is like the cure system and then what to use that is a better alternative that is frangerance free essential oil free how to clean the system fill it and put the serum in the cure like needle .

Oy! Answering that very question in tomorrows video 😁 (Spoiler: maybe? But not as much as I hoped, at least entirely on its own)

I have pre-period breakouts and lingering hyperpigmentation from it as well. Especially in stressful times the breakouts are prominent. Skin1004 Probio cica Ampoule has been helpful for man aging them.

Stress breakouts have to be one of the most “is this a joke” type of breakouts. We’re already going through stuff, there goes the skin too UGH Thank you for sharing!

i dont understand, i thought you raved about ginseng products?
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole 6 месяцев назад
Mmhmm. The expensive brands, not the inexpensive ones (sadly). And there’s a big difference besides only the quality of ginseng: Sulwhasoo/Donginbi isolate the “active” portion of ginseng and add it back in at standardized levels Whereas “ginseng extract” alone contains unpredictable levels, if any, of the active compounds

Earlier today I was just thinking "Did Alice ever do a video with a comprehensive review of the hyperpigmentation products she's tried?" And here it is....talk about perfect timing

Oh Alice- SKII? I’m actually really surprised -it has methylparaben in it -do parabens not worry you at all? For me they’ve always been a no-no I just assumed you would be like minded but if not, I would be interested to know your take and whether my avoiding them all these years has been unnecessary after all? 🤔♥️♥️♥️
@briana5002
@briana5002 7 месяцев назад
Some people choose to avoid them out of an abundance of precaution, but the EU and FDA deem them safe to use
@AliceintheRabbitHole

The dose makes the poison! And the “dose” for parabens to protect our products is soooo low. It’s almost comical in comparison to, say, phenoxyethanol. It’s a very potent preservative, so in some ways…I actually prefer to see it 😳 Unlike other preservative systems, we have a lot of research on its safety (and a few debunked studies that questioned its safety!) ☺️

Thanks for the replies guys. I’m still not sure -any time somebody starts mentioning hormone problems I get a bit antsy…..better safe than sorry in my book ( no matter how good the product)……but hey that’s why they call it a debate 😃

What strength is the retinoid you use?
@sharonharris9782
@sharonharris9782 7 месяцев назад
Unfortunately, none of these products would touch mine. I have melasma, so use high strength TCA peels. The process has been a very long one, since the healing time between each perl is significant. However, after almost four years, I've managed to remove about ninety percent of it. I wish i only had hyperpigmentation due to acne marks.

I had to repurchase the SK II 230ml bottle again, this time with Clear toner also, some said that it's even better when using together!!!! Been using the ordinary aha 10% but not really see the result, or shoud it be used with SK-II 🤔? This time I won't put it in spray bottle also. Hella expensive!! 😅I even bought Dropper Bottles/Drip Bottles for maximum saving. After finish 1st 230ml bottle, then later even using even high-end skin care products like Whoo, Sulwhasoo, ZO skincare retinol, my skin is still NOT as good as when using SK-II: smoother, bighter, smaller pores. I have used Manyo years ago. I got hooked!! I'm so doomed😂 I also just bought a microneedling kit. Hope that nothing bad happens 🤞🤞🤞, I have ance here and there. How much depth shoud I use for the 1st time?
@Bambixldr
@Bambixldr 7 месяцев назад
I really want to try micro needling in general but I’m afraid since I have very sensitive skin/ rosacea 🥹 I don’t really have a lot of hyperpigmentation since I was so careful with my acne but this disposable system looks promising 😭 putting this high on the list for 2024!
