This one is fascinating -- cut gems have those different layers of what you can see in them, and this one is mysterious with the deep parallel facets under the top table facet, and also what is being reflected from the room. I also love the way he worked in the color coming through the stone onto the shadow under the stone. Sometimes I think during the process he is going too far with lights and shadows -- he is very bold and dramatic with the contrasts. But then the signature is on, you back off a fraction, and there it is, perfect.

3 and a half hours? Would have taken me days to get that level of photorealism. Absolutely incredible.

I keep finding that contrast really plays a big part in making something look realistic. I've played with faceted jewel drawing a little. The bright reds inside and the white light reflecting off really makes them look more 3D and clear. But I tend to have to push myself to make things lighter, darker, and without fuzzy uncertain lines. You do a nice job with these things.

His art is so beautiful! In the beginning it looks like a regular drawing and it doesnt look realistic. But then he keeps adding more details and more layers of beauty and then it looks so real. Its like an illusion
