Thanks for the Lectures. Maintaining my blood pressure at 130/80mmhg ,Diet,Exercise & Weight Control have helped a lot.Take Medication when I'm stressed.
Great vid as usual, Dr. Seheult. Did you mention that diastolic BP is part of this new classification system too? (i.e. 80-90 is Stage 1 HTN and >90 is Stage 2 HTN now).
The bottom line, if you eat more fruits & veggies, you'll need less (or no) drugs. BP 190/110 at 50yrs. old in ER - started meds 125/70 for 2yrs. - went Vegan, after 2 months stopped all meds now after 4yrs. still no meds BP 115/65. Went from 5'9" 200lbs. at 50yrs. old to 150lbs. in 1yr. after Vegan, still Vegan at 56yrs. old and have stayed 150lbs. since that time. :)
+tgifford That’s what the evidence shows on a population level as well. Although you got quite a drop. Good for you! Keep it up! You have many more years to enjoy!
@Sydnea Sophia This. At age 19, 110 pounds, vegan diet, avid strength trainer and cyclist, my blood pressure was borderline. It's continued to rise over the years and I was told it's likely due to my African American heritage and genetics (my father was hypertensive). I really would like to understand the biological process behind that, and be given other options besides medications. It might be relevant that I've had chronic anxiety my entire life so I'm sure that's a factor, I just don't know to what extent.
This blood pressure level solution CureBloodPressure6.blogspot.in works well with me, right after 14 days using this plan, my blood pressure level down 20 points. But you should work with physical exercise (just Thirty-five minutes strolling). General, I feel healthier now that my blood pressure is less than my normal.?
This blood pressure level solution tinyurl.com/zwpcdv8 is clear, concise, and easy to read. In less than 2 nights, I was able to gain all information from the it. In combination with a blood pressure level monitor I picked up I was able to take my pressure below 148/98 on Thanksgiving to 116/78 in about a month.?
You will get even better. It takes a little time to get used to leaving the salt IN the shaker : ) . One nutritionist says only use salt right AT the table (not in cooking, and don't eat the restaurant food) - as you can actually taste that little bit of salt that is put on at the last minute. Yum! So glad to hear you are exercising now , . . keep it up, don't get down due to Cov or Politics or Winter. Pumped to hear your success!
@@eugeniebreida1583 Thank you so much Eugenie, It has been 8 months so far and I have felt so much better ever since, my blood pressure is around 120/70 on average. I yet to lose some weight but fixing my sleeping habits since university has finished helped me a lot to lower to the blood pressure levels :)
I am doing me thesis in Adherence to hypertensive meds. My patients were one diagnosed on the basis of JNC-7. In few weeks I will analyzing the data. Should I categorize my patients based on the JNC-7 or JNC-8 during the analysis? That will certainly increase the prevalence of cases with uncontrolled hypertension but how much difference is it going to make?
We have a free course on sensitivity vs specificity at MedCram.com: www.medcram.com/courses/sensitivity-and-specificity-explained-clearly Thanks for the topic suggestion. We'll try to do more stats videos in the future.
Should I be concerned if my BP was 220/117 this morning? It’s 179/91 right now. I always feel normal. No chest pain. Nothing. I don’t have much energy though. I get winded easy. I have condition LBBB. No sign of ever having a stroke though. Have several stress tests coming in Sept. I’ve been this way forever. BP is higher than normal high though!😂I can make it go lower by resting relaxing and concentrating on it. I can get it down to normal 120/80 after awhile. My normal is just higher I think!
It's insane, isn't it? I think they all hate me, as I walk in at about 115lbs, and they are wondering if I diet all the time or something?? I do NOT get it. WHY are nurses so unhealthy - almost uniformly.
Drop the guideline numbers and the insurance companies can mandate drugs helping the Pharmeceutical companies and Docs make more moola. Go to a doctor that treats the problem with lifestyle and nutrition and not the symptoms of the disease. Docs get a kickback from the drugs.
By the way you asked that question, I'm assuming you're thinking of cases of ischemic strokes, rather than hemorrhagic strokes. In the case of ischemic strokes, it is important to NOT reduce blood pressure in the acute phase to preserve perfusion to ischemic brain tissue. This is not true in cases of extreme blood pressure (> 220/120) or when certain comorbidities exist (such as CAD, heart failure, kidney failure, etc.), i.e. in those cases, you WOULD want to lower blood pressure acutely, slowly and carefully. After the first 24 hours after onset of stroke, you can restart antihypertensives to prevent recurrence of stroke. (most of this info is from UpToDate)
+MadameCasper There are certainly those concerns. Remember that they were roundly criticized in 2014 for raising the threshold to 150 in patients greater than 60 years old. We don’t talk much about those recommendations (jnc8) but rather the more widely accepted jnc 7 guidelines from 2003.
AT $1 profit/pill that is $3,000,000/day more in the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies, with reg's endorsed by the AMA, which just HAPPENS to be in bed with....BIG PHARMA, which, thru the magic of Obama-Care has put all medicine under control of the government regulators, which happen to be POLITICIANS, who are in bed with......BIG PHARMA!!! BP necessarily increases with age, esp diastolic. The elderly need their bp ^ because of decreased elasticity in their circulatory system. Dropping their bp, will cause orthostatic HYPOtension-creating increased fall risk.
The only drug that helped (but not talked much about) is a nitroglycerin-based drug (Imdur), it works on the nitric oxide molecule which is a vasodilator. I have an auto-immune disease and the ACE inhibitors made it much worse which is common with many others with auto-immune diseases. Magnesium plays a key role in this (Magnesium Taurate may be the best choice). Avoiding processed foods and getting more polyphenols in the diet should be helpful.
Thanks for the question. These guidelines are generally for the United States, but next year the European Guidelines will be coming out. For a European perspective on the 2017 Guidelines, the European Scoiety of Cardiology has several interviews: ru-vid.com
Here's our response to a previous question similar to yours: Our reason for comparison to JNC 7 is this: Many organizations and clinicians didn't accept the recommendations in JNC8. This prompted the American Heart Association the American College of Cardiology, and many other organizations to develop these new guidelines. So when the 2017 recommendations came out they were a recommendation for change over the current practice which, for many, was best represented by JNC 7 (not 8).The discussion section in this journal article outlines some of the controversy: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4473614/ And here's the AHA president John Warner, MD recently saying the guidelines haven't been updated since 2003: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Csvywy7qXM.html
Who wants to bet a systolic pressure of 100 mmHg will be classified as hypertensive at some point in the future, as “more and better data” is collected and “evaluated”?
The purpose to avoid JNC8 is good for the pharmaceutical company. Nowadays ACC/AHA 2017 also questionable. What to accept.! From food pyramid to cholesterol theory all r ....... anyway thanks for ur nice work. For me, i m still searching for the definition of normal blood pressure, which can be followed.
