Your structure, methodology and presentation are consistent, succinct and absolutely engaging as a viewer, especially with the chapters. Ever since I've subbed to you, you've been informative and responsive, thank you for your hard work and insight into an OG refresh! Also you might want to take a look into the Cooler Master MH751/752, absolutely sleeper headsets that are still worth their money for comfort, mic quality and soundstage. I think one prominent reviewer called it one of the best sub 200USD wired, closed back headphones.
0:16 That sounded way off to me, because I remember when they came out and it was not THAT long ago. Looked it up, and they came out in 2015. Maybe the originals came out in 2008, but not the Cloud 2.
I find a lot of the "sound is just bad" reviews come from people who never tried to EQ this headset and they just find the bass lacking. How did you find its performance in gaming and music with EQ? (I don't plan to use ngenuity at all)
"Less likely to split" that's absolutely fantastic for me, as someone with a large head I've went through 3-4 pairs of cloud 2s and alphas which all broke in the same way, overtime the buckle snapped or caused other breaks
Used the cloud II for 5 years, bought the cloud III and this is so bad the audio is mid it's flat no bass at all very flat audio zero signature, the sound is too low on PS5, good on PC, the comfort is 20/10 very comfortable, the microphone is amazing, the wire feeling is horrible whenever it touch or rubs something you can hear a very very disturbing sound in the headset. Conclusion very comfortable headset with a very very good microphone but the audio is veeery basic and without character
and hopefully it doesnt pop and crackle like the Alpha wireless. That thing had soooooooooo many issues that Hyper X confirmed, said they would fix, and then just ghosted everyone.
@@shantodas8184 I bought HyperX Cloud Wireless and there was a constant buzzing noise even when not connected to any device. No way to update the firmware. Sound quality is the same, or even worse than the wired version, while being twice as expensive. Returned them on the same day.
I loved hyperx, but i swear their mic would give out so much on me. I legit had like 4 pairs, and the mic all gave out within a year lol. Which sucks, cuz I really loved the clouds.
Audio producer here and I'd leave one tip based on what you mention around 11:50 about boosting audio a bit. You never, EVER should boost anything with EQ unless you're sound designing and doing that on purpose. Instead you should CUT the other areas leaving the part you want to hear a bit more of the frequency. What I did to clean HyperX Cloud 3 was simply cutting the low end with the HyperX NGENUITY. -3dB to 120Hz; -1.5dB to 64Hz and -3dB to 32Hz. This part is of course completely subjective but I felt it cleaned the soundscape a lot. I like very analytical and bright soundscapes (eg. Beyerdynamics DT 1990 Pro with the "analytic" pads) and this definitely took a step towards that on the much cheaper HyperX Cloud 3.
Hey Joe, greetings from the UK. Just want to say thank you for another top quality review as always. Just want to ask how you rate this against the EPOS H6 pro closed back? Cheers
In my journey to settle on a pair of favorite headset, I am realizing that a lot of the headsets are simply subjective selection, and found myself to watch all available reviews, where one reviewer reviews my tope 2 or 3 headsets - and then finding mutliple reviewers to get to the point what is the best for me and what I am looking for. In this specific case I have used Logitech G935 for the last few years, but the design defect Logi is not addressing kept me getting replacement - and I am quite ready to move away from that model. I liked the sound, surround options as well, adjustments, but time has come: I have tried Razer Nari 7.1, Artics 7P, and Hyper Cloud Cloud III - HyperX were probably the best out of three overall for me, however still fell quite short when comparing sound of G935 and how the sound was on HyperX set. I am now making final selection between these three headsets: - Logitech Pro X 2 - Drop + EPOS PC38X - Audeze Maxwell and I should know which of these three will stay, and what other two will be going back...
I don't know about anyone else but the cloud 3 sound like shit compared to the cloud 2.... the max volume is like 30% - 40% lower for some weird reason.
Is Audeze Maxwell better for FPS than Steelseries Arctics Nova pro wireless and wired after adjusting the Software and EQ? Another question, which is better For FPS Audeze Maxwell vs Audeze Mobius 3D Audio vs Audeze Penrose vs VZR Model One? And is there another better headset for FPS? Can I Use Steelseries Nova pro wireless Version as wired and Will It deliver The Same Sound As Wired version?
Correction: Cloud 2 released in February 2015. Interesting review of the Cloud 3. Only concern is the yolk situation that more and more users have brought up over time with the wear and tear situation of previous headsets.
Very nice review sir, thank you very much. It seems like this might be tuned for comp FPS gaming. Treble is a bit more relaxed as opposed to the cloud 2
Great job brother! I have a question ,i have tuned my cloud 3 in nguinity and sonar and i wonder if the tunning is saved in the card or the headset. I use them for console thats why i am asking. I know sonar tuning works only for pc but I don’t know for nguinity
The wireless version of this headset just dropped and apparently it has an incredible mic, 120 hours of battery life, and new angled and tuned drivers. Review soon?
As much as I enjoy HyperX headsets. I think I’ll stick with the Arctis Prime I got for $25. (A steal in my opinion.) I honestly like them more than the Arctis Pros.
I've got the Cloud alpha's, an older model with way thinner pads that weren't comfortable, but with wickedcushions pads, they're nice enough to not really notice. However, doing a small sine test, at around 4kHz, there's a sharp dip, but in regular content, not noticeable. Only complaint is maybe the cable, but I don't use them too much compared to my HD560s'. Anyways, on another note, there's been a history with hyperx cables failing a lot and sometimes not getting audio in the left unless turned in a specific way, and other dumb stuff. Overall, I'd say go with trusted audiophile brands for your audio, and not gaming companies
I have the cloud alpha s and have had a bunch of other gaming headsets over the years all marketed as "surround sound". I bought a pair of the Hd560s a couple of months ago and I will definitely NEVER buy another "gaming" headset again
@@christoph9510 I too own the HD560s', but personally, I'm just searching for some closed backs preferably with a mic, and I do have some on my radar, the one I'm most likely gonna get being the MMX300
I was using both cloud ii wired and wireless for years. Still works but cloud iii doesn't seem a big upgrade. So now I have the new audeze maxwell. The difference in overall comfort is massive. It's not that maxwell is uncomfortable, it's just that the cloud ii is too comfortable and there is a lot of difference in terms of weight, earpad size, headband style, and a bit in clamp force. Ive only used maxwell less than a week so im giving it more time but if i never get used to it, i might consider going back to cloud ii, at least for gaming long hours
Aww man.. I always loved the OG hyperx cloud and was thrilled to see this thumbnail and it looks like a good product overall but that tuning for me personally is just a big no no. I hate 6k, and it looks like it has no air or sparkle so I hope this 6k spike is specific to your measuring rig. Currently on the mh750, the other takstar, perfect weight and mic and easygoing sound signature. Man I’m a bit disappointed on that freq response :/ damn
I can't decide between the HyperX Alpha wireless and the Cloud III, anyone have any advice/preference? My primary concern is comfort. Where I am the Cloud III is about $124, and the alpha is $170 (on sale). Is the audio so much better that its worth going up the $46?
Hi GT! may I have the Ngenuity EQ settings you have here? Thank you so much for the detailed review! I currently have a Cloud3 wired and I'm trying to tune it. Cheers!
Okay, I like the microphone, heard it elsewhere and it's really nice. Looks good & seems like a easy grab! =) thanks for the in depth review as always Joe! Quality is top notch, oh, i take one of your headset stands good sir! 😂
I wanted to go for alpha S because of the extra pads/detachable cable and was wondering if theyre dropping like an Alpha S 2? Would like your opinion on Alpha S or Cloud 3
@@BiOHZRD97 I bought the Alpha S because the detachable everything + extra pad which are like $10-20 is unmatched value because anything that breaks can be replaced. I do use fxsound equaliser to change how it sounds slightly though.
Joey is THE BEST tech review channel on RU-vid. I absolutely love how in-depth and easy to understand everything is. Also, he is truthful about his reviews. Good / Bad, he talks about it all! 100k SUBS INCOMING!
I’m going to buy cloud 3 for streaming (Can’t afford a pc so i have to stream via mobile) is cloud 3’s mic is enough strong for noise isolation (i mean it’s enough strong to avoid background noises? )
Just bought mine and based on this and can confirm it's great! Love the mic and sound profile + very comfortable. Only complaint is the lack of bass (and easy EQ adjustments) but that's fine.
Quick question, not relevant to this video at all, i watched one of your videos uploaded about a year ago and its about the h6pros and the astro a40s, which one is the best for footsteps whether it be rainbow six siege or CoD. Knowing if they're left, right, in front, or behind, and as well picking up the distance they are from you
Hi, hope you are doing great. I want to buy a new pair of headset, which is cordless, and has Bluetooth and a good mic. I don't want to spend more than 200 dollars. So do you have any suggestions that are going to help? I have watched your review on Razer Barracuda, but the mic is below average. Please tell me which headset I should buy. Thanks
I’ll start by saying that I own a lot of “gaming” headsets (Sony InZone H9, new Astro A30s, TB Stealth Pro, Razer Blackshark V2 Pro (2023 edition), SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, Pulse 3D and the TB Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max which all of these headsets are amazing in their own way and I love gaming on them but I wanted something specifically for Modern Warfare 2 and to take my competitive edge to the next level so I started my research into open-back headphones and it’s opened up an entirely new world. I know there’s a lot of heavy hitters in this market and I know all the “big” names such as the HD560s, 6XX, the DT990 pros or even end-game like the HD 800s and you can definitely get one of those but since I’m a console gamer (play on Ps5) and don’t want to have to get a separate mic or what not I decided to look at the open-back headphones with a microphone and decided to pick up the PC38x and holy smokes this thing makes me excited to play COD lol. It blows all the “gaming” headphones out of the water with the soundstage and imaging and the fact I don’t have to turn down the headset since the highs aren’t ear-piercing. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced headset that puts “gaming” headsets to shame then I highly recommend the PC38x. If you have a setup with a separate mic and want even better (and more expensive) then I’d go with one of the other options I listed above in the open-back category but if you’re a console gamer like me with a simple setup and no separate mic then the PC38x with the flip-to-mute mic is absolutely mind boggling. I’d love to try out the VZR Model Ones but they aren’t available here in Canada yet but I’d definitely purchase day-one once they are since they too come with a microphone. My current gaming setup is a 55” LG C1 OLED, PC38x and then whatever pro controller I’m using (having 2 Scufs, Hex, DualSense edge etc etc
Thank you for a great review. I just order Hyperx Cloud 3 wired from your video. This my first to try hyperX series. I use with creative sound blaster X3 . Can u recommend for a EQ setting to provide a sound for music and movies from your taste?

What is your current opinion on Cloud 3 at the moment? Mine is on the way and I need honest opinions at this point please help me out.
Hey brother, just want to say thanks so much for the videos. I've been looking for a headset in this range. Still deciding between the Cloud 3 and the Nova 7x. You have made SUCH in depth videos, and I think I speak for everyone here (and those that haven't found you yet)... when I say we appreciate it a lot! You deserve a much bigger audience... and you'll have them soon enough :) Thank you man, keep up the good work. Much love from South Africa.
Does this headset have sidetone? I know typically analog 3.5mm headphones do not as sidetone is digital, but does the DAC or Ngenuity software implement any sidetone feature into the Cloud 3's? They're too new to read any info about them, when googling only info about older headsets comes up. Cheers!
From everything i had read and seen from multiple sources. Buy the cloud 2. Not all upgrades are better but meerly another profit line. I have some in the post.
I bought the Razer Blackshark V2 yesterday, did not know these got released. I really hate the microphone position that it just can't stand on the side so I can't see it. And also the textile cushions feel a bit strange, I have been using the HyperX Cloud Alpha for like 4 years. I am split if I should return the Blackshark and get the Cloud III again. What would you advice me?
You sir are a legend. This is the best review I came across of this HyperX Cloud III. You answered most of the questions I had and then some. However, I do wonder how this headset will wear. Will the headband pleather wrap/cushion be replaceable? I have noticed all of these things will peel and wear over time. I liked and subscribed.
Man wearing glasses myself does make EVERY headphone an issue. I bought the cloud 2 for my son and its virtually indestructible. He is 10 now and they have lasted a full year so far and NOTHING has lasted more than 3 months . I would and will buy these without question.
Really want to buy these but I already know I cannot do cabled headsets. Too many times I hit cables with my hands or drop cups on my desk. Wish I could though. 😢
I mean HyperX got the right idea with working off of an existing music headphone that was good. Building a "gaming" headphone from the ground up is just reinventing the wheel imo. Both the HyperX and the Epos are pretty universally loved and super popular, both of them started life as an actual heaphone by an actual manufacturer who have been doing this for a long time. My personal favorite is the AKG K712Pro that is pretty flat-ish and is like semi-consumer, semi-studio headphone. Absolutely nothing can hide, it just gives you whatever is there, always. I mean its not in the same price range and its open back but point is that a good headphone is a good headphone. I dont much believe in purpose built headphones for gaming ^^ That being said I do use a HyperX Cloud II Wireless for pure convenience when playing certain games and hanging out in discord though, being able to go get a drink or do something without leaving the conversation is really nice!
Honestly...get the cloud 2 wireless, think about it. Rocksolid headset, great audio and good mic but now there should be a price drop because of the cloud 3
I've been really enjoying the TYGR, even to this day. I reviewed them in the past. I'll have a follow up video coming out on them soon, as Wicked Cushions dropped some new pads. I wanted to measure it again with the pads, and also discuss where they stand in today's market. In short, they're excellent for mixed content, and FPS.
This headset is garbage do not buy it you can’t tell where the hell footsteps are coming from or what side the map a bomb is going of I’ve tried all settings I find online and still garbage don’t waste money on this guys
Great video! I'm looking for comfort, gaming, movie, microphone, and music purposes (Like general). i have Realtek ALC897 and i need usb cause of that. The options is Corsair hs80 usb 70dolar, Logitech G Pro X usb 80dolar, Steelseries arctis Nova 3 usb 65 dolar and Cloud 3 for 100 dolar. My questions is in video you mentioned hs80 have best mic but not as good as sound quality in comparison with cloud 3. There is a 30 dolar difference between them and withoud dolby, do you think i should pay that extra 30 dolar to get that better sound quality with HyperX Cloud III? Like this is my first headset and i wanna know if i buy HS80 USB will i regret cause of the bad sound quality that hs80 have? People say hs80 audio not good but i dont understand how bad it is? Since im living in asia i cant return the product :/
Hi you want the best headphones on The market go for the new turtle beach stealth pro 3 I have them there awesome for movies music and specially for gaming it's your one and done audio if you cannot afford them save up for them you will thank me later stay safe and happy gaming to all
