4:57 One benefit to salt is that it adds additional time to bonuses, it adds one minute to the duration. Dragon parts/star pieces do a lot more, but early game it's decently useful!
While the number still rose, I did find more use with salt crystals since I was cooking so many lv 3 +attack & +defense dishes in BotW Master Mode. I'm trying my best to eat just as many potion dishes in TotK, but the lack of bosses/enemy camps dangerous enough to justify eating them is getting sparser & sparser as I level up my weapons & armor. Please PLEASE give us a Master Mode, Nintendo!
@@lorenzpacis3249Sadly, they announced last year (I think in September) that they will never add DLC or Master Mode to totk. I was holding out on doing a 100% run until Master Mode came out, until I learned only a few weeks ago that it'll never exist... 😒 So when I learned about it, I started a 100% run without Master Mode.
9:52 I feel like it should be mentioned that putting in 5 zonai charges at a time produces 12 devices, giving you 2.4 devices per charge. So you should always put them in 5 at a time to get the most out of them. That also translates to 1.2 devices per zonaite (because you can buy charges at forges for 2 zonaite per charge).
One fun fact about the king scales, you can actually get up to 44 of them, its just very tedious. You can fuse the scales to all your shields and weapons (besides the master sword, youll see why) and he will still give you more scales so long as none are in your inventory. So with maxed out weapon and shield inventories you can hold up to 39 scales and then ask him for another 5 for 44 total. Then go to tarrey town and break down all your shields and weapons. This is why you cant do use the master sword, you cant break it down. I tried using displays at links house to hold more scales on display but once you display something with a scale king dorephan says he senses king scales somewhere in the world.
Dark clumps also have a unique meal series; use a dark clump in place of monster extract in a monster meal and it'll give you a special "dark" version.
I heard somewhere that another benefit to Star fragments is that they increase the despawn radius of any ultrahand creations it’s glued to. I can’t remember where I heard this, but iirc it’s because Star fragments are meant to be seen from absurd distances, so they don’t despawn until you’re REALLY far away, and that property gets translated to anything it’s attached to, meaning you can get really far away from your vehicle, structure, whatever you wanna build with ultrahand or autobuild, and not be at risk of it despawning.
Octoballoons are actually *really* useful. You can fuse them to shields, and they operate like mini-rockets. You float up slowly before they eventually pop, and they're relatively expendable given how little use they see elsewhere. The arrow fusing could also have some niche applications, I do wonder if multishots apply more than one balloon making each arrow and balloon more efficient when lifting heavier objects.
I only recently found your channel, and am loving all the TOTK information. You always mention something that I hadn't thought of, and I really appreciate that. Also, I love the way you intro these videos.
If you attach a star fragment to a shield you get a permanent flickering glow effect as if you have a lantern, the other option is luminous stone/heart for a none flickering blue light that only works at night/in cave/in depth
My dude i love your videos! I recently treated myself to totk after botw. Been a big zelda fan since oot Checked out some stuff about totk and got your chanel recommend and i could not be happier man Your vibe and editing/narrative style is so chill
Some other things of note: Octorok baloons works the same way as rockets do on shields, albeit a lot slower and not so high. Also, the sell price of elixirs are based on the monster parts used, so one made out of 4 lynel guts nets around 1.4 k
2:29 you 100% can freeze and surf on Hearty Salmon, Hearty Bass, and Ancient Arrowana. I’ve tested it and I almost always use Hearty Salmon myself because I like the way it looks. I’m playing on 1.20, so I guess they could’ve patched it, but I don’t see why they would, it’s clearly intended.
on the topic of fun weapon fusion names, a gnarled long stick fused to a gnarled long stick gives my favorite weapon name which is…ahem… *Strong-Long-Stick-Stick*
Using construct horns in place of zonai charges in the large gacha machines produce less capsules, but is a good replacement in early game. The dude next to the first gacha machine you find even says this.
Why can you surf with frozen crabs???????? Like that is even less flat than the whole bird meat (sugar-cane longblade my beloved) also the effects from critical cooks are indeed just random, but also for meals. You either get about three extra hearts, one or two potency levels or about three additional minutes of effect duration (latter two only happen if applicable, and bonus hearts can be increased by usually the same amount as regular hearts). Also zonai sky platforms (those big floating platforms you can move around) cost 100 zonaite as well
6:00 this can also be done in rapid succession, each blast does 80 damage so fuse them the five shot Lynel Bows do dish out 400 damage. Gleeok’s heads are immune to these explosions. Edit 1: forgot to mention that Opal’s explosion does 10 damage Edit 2: Also anything else that makes an explosion bogger than the fruits when thrown/fired Does 20 damage like Monster horns and dragon spikes.
Rock salt adds additional time to food bonusses, compared to most ingredients. Other examples are acorns, nuts and eggs. Ow and of course dragon parts lol
The Kleric vibes are plentiful with this one, so that always nice. Thanks for another great video, Miah! You have amazing potential for future content creation and are incredibly funny, so keep up the good work.
I suspect you can't fuse fish because 'dead fish' and 'living fish' are both counted as the same gatherable overworld item, and allowing you to fuse the 'dead fish' might also allow you to fuse live fish out of the pond directly onto your stuff, which might have been a bridge too far in terms of animal cruelty.
Here’s something I’ve wanted to know since episode three (I think) regarding oil jars and pinecones. When you fuse one to a weapon and set it on fire, the flame appears more intense, but does it actually deal anymore damage than a regular fire? Since it wears down durability faster, I’d imagine it would do more, right? Might be a good thing to test.
I thought Big Zonaite Blobs regenerated after some time! I will have to check my favorite mines to see. It’s not a huge loss because they are a massive pain to mine and they yield only about as much as a monster camp. (And I cannot count how many times I have had Ghost Yunobo blast half of one away, collected a handful of rocks, then had him go at the rest and get literally zero additional stuff. wher zonai indeed.)
When you roast food by the fire, they take up a single meal slot. So you can roast 999 things and take up only one slot. This gives 50% health increase over just eating the food raw. You can do this real fast in a hot cave, just throwing food all over the place and picking it up as fast as you can. Whereas cooking in a pot will give 2x over just eating raw, but each item takes up a meal slot.
Hinox toenails when used as arrow fuse makes the arrow work as an axe cut, so you can use it for example for those tree enemies. Im not sure if there's more like these
More on the monster guts: while golden apple, gibdo gut, star fragment and dragon materials guaranteed critical cooking 100% of the time, the other monster guts do increase the chances of a critical cooking. According to Austin John Plays, this number is 30%. I'm not sure on the number, but there IS an observable difference. Similarly, the lizalfos tails and the cane sugar also have this effect.
Minecarts, Zonai Carts and Zonai Sleds do the exact same thing as icy meat, but don't burn in hot temps. They have the same friction and travel the same distance on the same terrain. The only differences between them are that icy meat burns in hot temps, metal minecarts attract lightning, and icy meat makes the least noise. If you don't care too much about noise, use a sled shield as the noise is just a little bit louder, and it won't burn in hot temps such as the depths.
Oil jars, unlike pine cones don’t get lifted into the air by updrafts, meaning you can drop them from the paraglider while over a normal fire updraft to get a superboosted updraft without having to either shoot the item at the fire with a bow or throwing the item from the ground.
0:30 fun fact: every food item that isnt too specific in its recipe doubles the restored health except for hearty foods like radishes and truffles a single hylian mushroom gives the same health as a cooked single skyshroom
