I got lucky at a Hamfest last year, buying a Leixen Note, a clone of the 25 Watt HYS. For $20, I got the HT, antenna, speaker mic, car power adapter (replaces battery), charger base, power pack AND a valid RT Systems programming disk and USB-K programming cable. Instruction leaflet in a nice plastic tote, probably a gun case. Puts out 23W exactly on frequency. Very heavy. Have to use a spudger to remove battery.

I just got 2 leixen uv25 d. Uhf vhf. Fantastic. 5 watt talkies are useless for simplex in city's. Only using repeaters. With these radios it covers the whole city no problem. I got a good 8 miles clear in built up city environments. Definitely recommend them. Got rid of all my other talkies. Waist of time. 5 watts in built up areas you be lucky to get a mile

I bought a hys 25 for my wife to talk to me from home and me in the truck. she can key up the repeaters 24 miles away on her hys 25. i am very happy with the results. only problem i have is that i programed the radio with my Gmrs frequencys and all went ok except now the voice is in chinese when changing channels..

Just watched review another channel exceeded 30 miles in Forested and mountains on Chanel 13 high power setting!! WOW!! I just ordered a set on Amazon $207.00😎

I suspect this is a good shtf radio when you need to stay in touch with family across 7 to 10 mile range in somewhat hilly terrain.
