80,s and no auto-tune, their sound is due to overlapping. Producer Mutt Lange is a genius, he produced AC/DC Back in Black first album after Bon died. The Hysteria album was the first album after Rick Allen lost his left arm,

That may all be true, yet I must wonder if the songs might not have been just as good with a much simpler production. From my understanding, these recording sessions were brutal, repetitive, boring, tedious, and dragged on and on. Does it really take a week to tweek a snare sound to make a great record? Maybe cocaine had something to do with producers wanting to produce everything to the utmost degree. I have little doubt Def Leppard would have been awesome even if they had been recorded like the Beatles or The White Stripes or Prince - quick and dirty and it's done.

This is one of their most melodic beautiful songs. Sadly you've only ever heard stuff off their lightest album "Hysteria" from 1987. My fav song on that album is the opening track "WOMEN" which has an awesome 'lit' sound that Lex was asking about. That said: Their earlier albums are more edgy sounding, and older harder rock vibe. This song represents so much to me and my husband! Weve been to their concert on 2018, my husband gift to us and OMG it was perfect!! Were sepadated rn due to all this craxiness, but I cant wait to get closer to my husband!! Also, when Joe sung Hysteria, he mended with "Heroes" by David Bowie, you should check it out too!!

You’re not far off from saying it’s like the beginning of autotune and complex digitizing. They pulled out all the tricks and invented new ones for this record. Including layering in around 100 backing vocals. Even the tone of the guitars were painstakingly created by modifying the Rockman (Tom Schultz’ creation from the band Boston). Everything they did makes this album sound huge.

Like the saying goes best I remember "Appetite For Destruction was the last big rock album recorded, mixed and mastered with analog vinyl/cassette in mind and Hysteria was the first big rock record with digital CD in mind". I'm sure I didn't get it exactly right but close.

Def Leppard is an awesome band. I was lucky enough to see them in concert when I was younger. To see Rick Allen play the drums with one arm was truly amazing.

Lex is too adorable. She has the music in her veins. Lex hear what I say..people who get music the way you do (I know because I do too). You were given a GIFT. you will never feel alone in this world because you will ALWAYS have music. Not everyone gets it like you. It's part of your soul. You're very lucky. So how many people miss out on the beauty of music.

Def Leppard needs to be heard from beginning albums On Through the Night and High-n Dry. Then work your way up to the later years. DL was the hottest rockin band in the late 70's early 80's

I never understood everyone's obsession with this song...not one of my faves, but it's cool for vibin'. Mutt Lange was so instrumental in their sound...actually Mutt has his own sound that you can hear through the different artists he's produced. Let's dig in to older songs! Like Photograph, Rock Of Ages, Billy's Got A Gun, Bringin' On The Heartbreak, Rock Rock Til You Drop, Stage Fright.

Lex is usually right on with her feelings about different bands and the emotions that different genres bring out. And I’ve been listening to all of these since they came out (60’s to the present). Very perceptive ...
