yes, yes friday june 24th, yes yes. i made an oopsie.
so it goes, so it goes. long update on hysto insurance bad stuff, hormones and stuff, and life and stuff!

@jjguerra48 in most cases, ones body starts to fight testosterone injections between 1-5 years on hormones - replacing T with E. stopping T is fine, you can do that, but then the E will come back along with all the emotions/non-permanent changes. T also increases risk of ovarian cysts as well as weakens the uterus to create problems and/or higher risks of cancer. i read somewhere it is medically advised to have a hysto within 5 years of starting hormones - due to how T changes all of that.

@MrImportrans having a cyst doesn't warrant a hysto - they would approve just getting the cyst removed but that won't solve my hormone problems, and id end up getting two surgeries in the end. for a ciswoman under the same conditions i'm having (aside from the cyst) they would say stop the testosterone and start on estrogen - but because i'm trans i can't. it's not gender discrimination - its that my mom's company doesnt include SRS (sexual reassignment surgeries) in their plan.

@mildlyunnerving i surprisingly didnt get any questions re: shirtless picture which was awesome. i don't go stealth necessarily, i just don't come out to everybody. about 75% of the people in my life know my history, and i'm comfortable with that. :]

@sakura37396 i do not need to google, i have had consultations with four doctors who recommended the full hysterectomy, and will be monitored post-hysterectomy to combat any side-effects from stopping estrogen production. i saw your previous comment, and am currently more at risk of cancer and disease than i would be without it. i'm not going blindly into anything, do not you worry.

@easthooligunz yes, because i dont produce T naturally on my own - the dose will likely go down a little bit, but i dont know right now - i'll be sure to keep track and update when it happens!

@MrImportrans they are allowed to not cover certain things - gender expression isn't the same as SRS unfortunately. it's kind of like how they won't cover medication for certain illnesses - like allergies etc.

@AdmiringObserverR i don't really want to go into detail, but my body is cranking out 3 times more than the healthy amount of estrogen, negating a lot of the benefits/changes of testosterone, causing depression/etc - all of the effects of high estrogen low testosterone in men, essentially. the cyst is the least of the concerns unfortunately, its the medical intervention (taking progesterone, getting a histrelin implant/etc) that are much more taxing than just removing everything alltogether.

man that really sucks… i want a hysto too sometime within the next few years, and hearing about the struggles with insurance is super discouraging… please do keep us posted, i hope they come through for you. one of my friends had to switch his gender back to F on all his legal documents before he could get it approved. your situation with the cyst is scary… i can't believe they wouldn't approve it based on that alone.

For the sound, use audacity! ^^ I do it on my videos when ever I need to cut out background noise or music. And for their exceptions...you are not changing your sex. You are just removing your overies, along with the cyst you have that is causing you pain. Even if you do listen to them, which obviously you wouldn't, your cyst would still be there, and nothing, but a hysterectimy, or regular surgery will fix it. I wish they can see that after they get the next letter.

hmm I have bluecross insurance. I'll find out Friday if they'll cover a surgery I want. By the way, I love your nose, it's beautiful. I'm curious about the health problems that not having a hysterectomy is for you at this point. Other than the cyst. Nice job painting. I'm amused you listed "cuddling" as something youve been doing.

I actually just wrote an article on the medical necessity of SRS procedures, and so I'm going to hopefully get it published and hopefully it can change the way that insurance companies and government agencies behave in regards to financial compensation for Transpeople. But hey, I hope you get your hysto figured out! :( I'll see you soon bro :)

About the scars, have you ever considered putting a little make-up on them? I know that sounds weird, but just a light layer to make them much less visible? They look fine to me really, to be frank even though I know youre a ftm trans I STILL cant picture you ever female, you remind me of so many of my guy friends. i know you hear this alot but you really are an inspiration, Ive debated so long and hard and I sitll dont know where I stand with myself. But yea anyways..

Hi! I'm actually on MTF hormone therapy right now, so I'm not trying to dist you or anything. But I don't get why you said that stopping testosterone will negate your progress. You won't be getting your old voice back and I can't imagine that your chest would be making much of a comeback after surgery (although I'm no medical expert). You're probably going to lose some muscle mass and pms is surely overrated but beyond that, what's the worry?

Okay. You sound certain, so I hope that this is the right decision. You are clearly very intelligent and have mulled this over carefully. But my conscience compells me to make one last comment: plenty of doctors are quacks, and taking out healthy organs is never a good idea.

@skylarkeleven That's not true. Your hysto would be exactly the same procedure as a hysto for a ciswoman with the same condition. There is no valid reason they can exclude you from treatment based on your gender. It's an AMA ruling.
