When it comes to a smooth and controlled hill descent, Downhill Brake Control (DBC) makes it easy. Brakes are automatically activated on difficult roads like curved slopes and gravel tracks, and help control the speed while keeping you focused on the steering wheel.

on a palisade, the paddle control to a lower gear is better for managing downhill driving w/o riding the brakes IMHO

I used the DBC today for the 1st time, it really shocked and scared my wife and I as it seemed to lock the brakes and stopped us whilst travelling down a hill, luckily there was no other car close by otherwise it would of hit us from behind.

I tried it today, super shocking and not sure why anyone would want to go 5 mph down a hill???

@@typoe0 well, we live in CO, and in winter our slick roads on a north facing slope, at a thirty degree angle, NEEDS something like this.

I was shown the feature on my SantaFe on and road too, but I visit a step graded bush dirt road regularly and cannot use the feature as it does a worse job by locking wheels with bang bang bang and skidding. So it is better off and using brake pedal for a smooth run down. I also have another brand SUV 4WD that does the DHC nicely that this brand could learn from.

Why? It slows you from 22 mph to 5 mph?

My wife and I were just driving the numerous up and DOWN hills of I-70 in Colorado USA from the Eisenhower tunnel to Glenwood Springs today with her brand new 2023 Hyundai Tucson, (turned 1000 miles going through the tunnel). We noticed this button and tried to look it up in the supplied manual, no description of its operation only the button name, DOWNHILL BRAKE CONTROL. First bad manual issue, no description of operation? Requires looking it up online? Then later to find out it only activates below 22 MPH, and you have to be below 25 to think about pressing some obscure button as you're descending a hill you feel is worthy of having automatic assistance? Hyundai I ask you to respond and explain three situations where this is useful for the typical suburban Tucson owner?

I live in Colorado. I don't think DBC is supposed to be used on the highway. It'd be useful in mountains like steep downhills on Pikes Peak or Rocky Mountains National Park.

this is a very useful feature for long roads on a hill that have steep sections in it and on turns.

No engine braking to preserve your brakes?
