Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 How To Replace Throttle Body. I am upgrading to the 80mm throttle body bore and adding a thermal gasket to the throttle body for more POWWWWAHHHH! In this video i show you how to remove the intake, throttle body, and talk to you about what to look out for when removing these also mentioned things about the coolant bypass mod. this was on a bk2 genesis coupe 3.8. ENJOY!

Take that engine cover off. It traps heat. My intake manifold temps dropped 6 degrees. Thanks for the vid..

Throttle over bored to 80mm on the 3.8 GDI is plus 2 HP to the wheels .It does smooth out the AFR curve fro mid to red line .Engine cover should be trashed as it holds heat.Oil catch can is a must for the GDI 3.8 ,if not installed your intake valves will be covered in oil as will the intake ports thus decreasing performance over time.

The slots in front of the snorkel should be cut out to allow more outside engine compartment (cooler) air into the intake tract .

How did you remove the coolant lines on the throttle body? I’m trying to remove it but it’s very snug ?

May I ask, what exactly was done to the TB?(any shafting, etc.) How much did it cost to get it ported? and lastly, has the car been running lean after the TB bore? thanks in advance! Just bought a TB to get bored so that's why I'm asking xD

shaft is shaved and the butterfly was replaced with a new one as well as new screws. overall it cost me $165 with shipping because I had the shaft shaved and it took about a week and a half to get back. I haven't ran lean at all from the readings given from torque. cylinders 2,4, and 6 run slightly leaner on these cars due to the intake runners being casted poorly. But its not deadly leaner since they come out the dealership like that. eventually once I install the phenolic spacer, I'll probably gasket match port the ends of the runners. still debating if I want to do that or not. you'll like the tb bore. for 2 days it had rev hang about 1300rpm for like 1-2 seconds after releasing the throttle and coming to a stop. but the ecu relearned it and its doing well now. I do have the tune installed as well now so that definitely helps too. Its probably the best bang for your buck mod as well as the phenolic spacer. how noticeable was the bored throttle body after the install?

last night, it wasnt too noticeable. But this morning going to work (after the ecu started to learn it) it pulled really well after 60mph. I usually only pull in 3rd gear on up. don't want to destroy these glass transmissions :P The tune should improve the powerband even more hopefully. will have a video of that as well. From everything that I have it should be right around 300 at the wheel. I haven't dynoed it yet since I'm not done with the mods, but it should be around that. I'm canned tune, so it won't see as much benefits as a custom.

IMakeLoops Hello, can you help me find out the size or where i can get the 4 bolts from the thorttle body to the upper manidfold? i bought the spacer and it came with longer bolts and i threw away the oem ones. now i have a bored tb and need the shorter bolts. i have no clue where to find them. thanks
