I really like the Night Drive videos. They are never the only video of the car, so people who complain need to understand there are other videos that show certain details better. The Night Drives are very unique. Other reviewers don’t let us see how the vehicle looks at night, and neither do most test drives, so I think the Night Drives are cool, but also valuable.
I’m glad Hyundai is implementing Headlights Welcoming Dance like the Audi, it seems so minor but it really isn’t considering you will see it every time the car locks and unlocks.

@@larjkok1184 tbh audi design is boring because they are the same as ICE models ( i know its still look bit different somehow but they still have massive grill and very similar to Q5 and Q7. While Hyundai and Kia try to take risk with daring design. Kudos to Hyundai/Kia
I want the Ioniq 5 so much! It's like Hyundai designed it exactly to what i want. It checks every single one of my boxes when looking at cars. I couldn't have made it better had I designed it just for me!

I think a frunk, even a small one is very useful, you can just put the cable there, so they don't clog up the trunk or get stuck underneath your cargo on a trip, when you need them to charge up.
1:30 minutes into video and I am sold on the car and moving to Korea. Very clean country! this is easily tied with my favorite EV at this time, the Mustang Mach-E
Looks way more beautiful at night with all those lights exterior and interior on 👍 dual motor , long range is the product which must sell more .. can't wait to see ev 6 compared to ionq 5 and model 3, y etc.👍
The Ioniq 5 is superb, I think. Retro and modern at the same time. Both at night and at day. I've ordered one and are counting the days until the delivery date - set to september 15th. Thank you, Asian Petrol for sharing great videos. Even though, you are making it harder to wait ;)
The only thing that pulls me back from this beauty is the charging network in Toronto area compared to Tesla. I have a Sonata Hybrid (since 2012) and Model 3 (replaced our 2014 Santa Fe 2T in 2021). I am very happy with Hyundai.
@@jbmcdoogle Tesla may have win in range and performance but, the ioniq 5 has a faster charging time because they use 800 volt charger if I'm not mistaken.
I need a new car and am waiting for the Ionic 5 to come out in NA. It’s the only car that checks all the boxes for me. Don’t car about the small Frunk. Only thing I wish they had is a darker shade of blue. Hyundai really did an incredible job with this car
Thanks for this video. I’m not sure how many people are interested in what their car looks like at night, but I absolutely love a car that has a light design that stands out in the dark. The Ioniq 5 delivers on this in spades.
The car already looks beautiful in daylight but wow it's even better looking at night. The pixel lighting looks very eye-catching and distinctive at night. It makes the city you're driving in looks like futuristic scene in cyberpunk themed movie. So cool 👌🏼 Hopefully you can show us Kia EV6 very soon as well 😁

They don't plan to make enough to threaten tesla at all. They only planned for 10,000 for all of Europe in 2021, which is much more ev friendly in comparison to the states. So expect like the mach e to get less than that amount shipped to the states. 🤔 shame to it's a very unique looking cuv.
Definitely the best looking EV on the market now. It reminds me VW Golf MK1 a lot which is a good thing! Very retro-modern design and I love the PIXELS!!! GREAT JOB HYUNDAI!
Thanks for the videos, I am looking forward to the Ioniq5 coming to the UK. I like the idea of having a froot or frunk to put charge cables especially when they are wet and dirty so keeping them accessible when the boot is full and not making your clean boot dirty.
This looks way cooler than a Model Y. As for the drunk, as long as it’s big enough to hold the charging cable, an emergency umbrella and squeegee that’s good enough for me.

Very distinctive lighting front and back. Car does need a rear wiper. Rear passenger side air cooling vents ( 6:06 ) a nice touch. Hyundai needs to upgrade the battery to the same capacity as Kia EV6 ASAP. Great channel and review.
The nice night video makes me want to get one in sky blue matte. It feels like driving inside a computer but for real. So also man, you are very informative and I like your cool approach to things. I have had 4 Hyundai's and one very fast Kia Forte SX 6 speed. It was off the first ship to Canada and I got one. Now I am liking the new KIA branding but that retro Pony look is making me feel like taking a long night run. hahaha. Oh well, I will wait until a few more are driving around and check them out in person on the road.
Very good review , the only fault I found with the car was no rear wiper big mistake, but it was not a deal breaker I have ordered the AWD Long Range Ultimate Package I will be getting a 2023 which will have quite a few updates so I am told by Hyundai Canada . I am driving Lexus Hybrid at the moment but wanted to go to a full EV very impressed with this car I did test drive the Tesla and the Ford but for me the Hyundai was so much more for the money and the fit and finish was right up there with Lexus . After hearing about the Ioniq 5 for so many months I know eventually I will buy one. Still torn between the EV6 but the Ioniq5 has a more sporty look. Looks the decade of the 20’s will be very interesting for cars, especially EVs. When I was 8 a car dealer told my dad one day the cars will be electric and now that time has come and about 10 years in.
@@seanholdom9739 if that's the case it's confirmed I'm going with the Ioniq5, besides Hyundai has been in business it seems a little longer than Kia and has better cars as far as gas cars go. Electrification changes everything unless the company doesn't care about their customers and are not devoted to quality but I think they are. Both Kia and Hyundai have come a long way. But if it's all the same between the Ioniq5 and EV6 I'm staying the with the Ioniq5. New technology but they don't have to be 7000.00 pounds more....I don't have the pound sign unless it's an upper case L.
Its a shame most EV cars are only for sale in California. We just dont have the infrastructure of charging stations on every corner just yet. Id buy one for sure, its the most beautiful EV to date imo.
I think if you say which one looks better. It is hard to say because is very subjective; and both have their own unique style. But I do admit Ioniq 5 looks pretty good. It has cyberpunk theme and Delorean style.
26:35 I think this car is pretty awesome for long distance travel. Range is enough for 2 hours highway driving, after which a short charging stop suffices to add enough energy for the next 2 hours. Even in winter and under poor circumstances (wind, rain, wet roads) this should work.
It always blows my mind when ppl complain about the range. Even on a road trip, the driver or passengers (especially kids) will need to go to the bathroom...
It will not be very good for someone who cannot charge at home and is dependent on local chargers. You need a car with a good amount of range under those circumstances, as you can't rely on beeing able to charge every day. Especially in Winter when the range gets basically cut in half ! In my case I would hope to charge once a week . I will just have to wait and see what the EV6 GT-Line Dual Motor is capable of . It should do much better than Ioniq 5 due to it's bigger battery and way better coefficient of drag ! I wish the manufacturers would stop putting these big wheels on EV's , all purpose they serve is cut the range ! Tesla did it right with Model 3 LR, 18 inches is plenty big for an EV and way more efficient than 20 inches !
@@netsraccjf3965 actually, this car is one of the best for people without access to home charging, because it is possible to charge really quickly on a high power charger. But most charging can be done on a street charger at 11 kW. So it mostly depends on the public charging infrastructure. As for range cut in half: get the heat pump and a set of smaller winter tyres. That should help to maintain the range.
@@netsraccjf3965 what's crucial is that you charge up when you have the opportunity. Don't wait to be down to 10%, but just top up the battery on a public charger when you get to work or a shop or whatever.
Least you get the heat pump as standard.we are not a hot country (uk) and the heat pump is only an option on the ultimate. Can't wait to get my premium 72kwh 217 next month 👍.

The Tesla has the bling factor, but the Hyundai has better build quality, reliability, and support (at least in Australia) Darn nice work Hyundai, it's a beauty.
I am a Ionic 5 owner (EU 77.4 kw connect + 2023 model) It's a fantastic car, comfortable, luxureus enough, high-tech, fast. the only downside is the infotainment system, it's good, but not the best. (Like in Audi or Mercedes) In all other ways it's definitly better then a Tesla model Y. Same goes for KIA ev6 if you ask me.
Stop recommending Tesla for the range. I know you're not doing it on purpose but you're being misleading. Tesla fudges the EPA numbers so they appear as high as possible. No guarantee you'll get better numbers with Teslas. At 75mph teslas miss the mark by 27% compared to the 22% average for other EVs.
Also Hyundai/Kia EVs actually often beat their EPA estimates. So the Ioniq 5 may well have more real world range compared to the Model Y, which out of all Teslas has the most misleading EPA range claim.
@@AsianPetrolhead as long as they get it to market in a reasonable time I think they can really capture some market shares plus the other Evs from Hyundai are extremely good looking also
Very important for me: the Ioniq 5 looks soooo much better than the boring Model Y. Also I don´t need 3.x seconds from 0 - 100 km/h or two motors. Unfortunately the long range model is nearly 10% more expensive than the other one. For only 70 km more rage (yes, plus a bit more power about what I don´t care) that´s a lot of money.
Got to love the Ionic 5 more than Tesla just for gorgeous futuristic curves, interior, and overall styling. Those couple of miles will not make a difference as both vehicles will be do to recharge and Hyundai charges faster.
As always a great video Charlie. Did really consider the Ioniq 5, but ended up with the EV6. Any videos on that car in the near future? But keep up making these videos they are great.

I must decide between Tesla 3SR+ and Ioniq 5. I do like Ioniq more (it costs more then Tesla 3SR+), it's more modern. But living in EU and traveling from country to country, Tesla is simpler to charge, because there are Tesla chargers everywhere. Hyundai - you need to download application and then to activate it you need the local address, so you can't move. One Kona owner went crazy... (talking about E union) Is Ioniq 5 any better with charging??
IONIQ 5 is the more interesting vehicle, IMO ... Hyundai has really pushed the envelope forward ... This model should do VERY well for them ... Great night time review Charlie ! Slainte' ! Cheers !
Love your reviews! Can you black out the interior with all lights and screens off. I have heavy wildlife around and the darker the interior the better the night vision.
Charlie, I am an “Insider Program” deposit holder for the IONIQ 5 in the US and would love to see all the colors in the same lighting (preferably sun). Very few clips outside with all the colors. So many cgi clips and poorly color corrected videos to choose from and then the one car they car the US press in an indoor setting. If there is an opportunity to produce that it would serve the world well. 💯

Slick looking car for sure... Will be hard to beat Tesla on range, acceleration, charging infrastructure and autopilot, but for the right price I'd give it a go... Never had any problem with my Sonata! I hear you compare it to the model Y, but why not comparing it to the model 3 instead? I'd buy the 3 over the Y personally (due to price), so for me that's where the battle is...

Would I buy one of these? Yes!!! I love this car more than I do the Kia KV6 (and I love that car!) The Tesla Model Y is very ugly to me and the styling of Tesla vehicles seem dated now. But I'll be honest with you: I'm hoping Hyundai does an EV sedan, because if I could afford it, I would have a Lucid Air in my driveway tonight! Outstanding video! 🏆! 🐰
Well I currently lease a 2020 Ioniq - and it gets an obscene 60 mph. My next car hmmmm I think will be a Genesis 70 electric when they get the coupe - I hope thats not wishful thinking. But Hyundia does set the pace as far as I'm concerned. The next 3-4 years will be overwhelming I'm sure. Perhaps my state will allow electric sales (you can buy but it has to be from an out of state dealership). They say we do not have enough electric power stations yet - and that is probably true. But I love Hyundia !!!!!!!
I don't care for the pattern on the outside of the doors, that would be a turn off for as for purchasing one, which is unfortunate as I like the styling of the vehicle. Rear window wiper would be nice

Can it fit 75” flat TV ? 4) back seat, can it fit 3 people easily comfortably ?? 5) roof bike rack available?? 6) does it auto stop when vehicle in front of you ?
I like the Ioniq 5 more than the Model Y. The only category where the Model Y wins is native navigation system (Tesla natively uses Google Maps). However, this can be easily rectified with Android Auto/Apple Carplay.
Design wise this looks 10000x better then the model y. Tesla has better auto pilot systems. But do you want an electric car for gimmics or just a better less expensive electric car. Tesla will be in trouble with all the upcoming evs.
