We took the Hyundai Ioniq 6 out for a splash earlier this month. Stylish, smooth, efficient and nippy!
The Ioniq 6 has been designed to pay homage to the sleek, so-called ‘streamliner’ planes and trains from the 1930s.
That ensures a curving, highly-aerodynamic body that optimises the electric range, whether you choose the 77.4 kWh battery or the more affordable 53 kWh unit.
The ‘First Edition’ models carry the 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery and have a range of up to 320 miles between charges.
That compares favourably with the Ioniq 6’s sibling car - the award-winning Hyundai Ioniq 5 SUV-crossover - which has a shorter maximum range of 315 miles with the same sized battery.
Lease customers can expect 350kW ultra-fast charging capabilities for maximum convenience. There’s also a battery heating system that optimises the charge times in all conditions.
Meanwhile there’s an abundance of performance to unlock, thanks to power of up to 325 PS, 605 Nm of torque, and a rapid 0-62mph time as low as 5.1 seconds - which is quicker than the entry-level Porsche Taycan.
Dual-motor, all-wheel drive First Edition models come generously equipped as standard.
Your lease will include 20 inch matt black alloy wheels, openable sunroof, head-up display, heated seats in the front and rear, and smart remote parking.
There’s also an extensive suite of driver assistance and safety tech, including Hyundai ‘Highway Driving Assist 2’, an autonomous system that keeps you centred in your lane and which maintains a set distance to the car in front.
Overall, you can consider the Hyundai Ioniq 6 as an extremely strong rival to all-electric saloons like the BMW i4, Tesla Model 3 and the Mercedes-Benz EQE.
