I have ridden in this car and it’s insanely fast with the JB4. Great video! JB4 is definitely a tune!

thanks again for these vids man! during some of the pulls, it kinda sounds like either the clutches were slipping or, like the engine wasn't smoothly moving through the rev range, was that anything you felt or is it more so you just bouncing around in N mode and fighting torque steer? lol
@KonaNthusiast
@KonaNthusiast Год назад
Figured someone would point that out, it’s the high pressure fuel pump lol. The fuel pump isn’t the strongest even with the stock power band, I’m upgrading that at some point
@x310gtsx

@@KonaNthusiast oh right on - didn''t mean to be that guy. my bad lol. was worried it was the clutches, thing was moving XD

@KonaNthusiast Год назад
@@x310gtsxlol all good, you’re not the only one that asked. A lot of the veloster N guys asked the same things. Like I told them, Hyundai does a lot of ass backwards thing. I can’t believe they gave this car a bigger turbo than the veloster N’s but kept the fuel pump the same size 😂
@barrettbritt
@barrettbritt Год назад
Did you upgrade/change fuel lines, pumps or injectors to run E30? Or just on the stock fuel system?
@KonaNthusiast
@KonaNthusiast Год назад
I ran it on the stock system. When I wasn’t tuned it handled E30 fine and even now it does, but it is sporadic with the issues. So I haven’t ran E30 since that one time
@barrettbritt
@barrettbritt Год назад
@@KonaNthusiast Thanks! One more thing, what about E85? Have you tried this with/without your new JB4 tune, or do you know anything about whether the Kona N can run E85 without upgraded fuel lines and a new HPFP?
@KonaNthusiast
@KonaNthusiast Год назад
@@barrettbritt I tried this without the JB4 tune, it does fine. From what I am seeing, the hfpf issue is dependent on car, some have the issue and some don’t. I recommend changing it either way, especially with the JB4, it’ll run much smoother. It’s an easy swap too
@chuukoart3869

you said you know people with an EN running map 3 on the jb4? is that withh e30? I have an EN with a jb4 and im just trying to figure out what people are out there doing to their Ns just so i can learn more about the system. The idea of running e30 on map3 kinda scares me tho because that adds 6psi of boost and id be afraid of it going over that 24psi mark because that seems to be the safe range for the stock turbos. Unless it never goes over 24 psi max in map 2 and just pushing more psi at the lower end but im not really sure. But thats where id like to know more about what map3 does. currenetly I run map2 most of the time and cap out around 24psi, id like to hear more about what setups people are running withh the jb4.
@KonaNthusiast
@KonaNthusiast Год назад
So I currently am running on map 3 on 93 mainly but do it with e30 sometimes. I usually am peaking at 26-27.5 psi, my friend is doing 26-28 psi with his 6 speed EN. But while it’s accelerating, the boost seems to hold at 21-23 psi. 24 psi is definitely a good safe point to test it, so I can see your point. My biggest recommendation to myself and everyone else is to get a custom map 6 tune that allows for e30 with running at 24 psi so you don’t blow the turbo 😂

Correct, a Piggyback Tuner is a "flashless" tune. It tunes params between the ECU and sensors. I never refer to my cars as "tuned" when using piggybacks though for clarity's sake. Each tuning method serves its purpose! Ive had some tunes that perform worse than a piggyback and seen some piggybacks sell pure bullshit then refuse to provide a shred of hard proof to back their claims. BMS are pretty honest and provide dyno sheets from multiple sources.
@KonaNthusiast
@KonaNthusiast Год назад
I definitely agree with all of this! 🤗Whenever talking to other car enthusiast, I let people know that it’s a tune but I also make it known that’s it’s a piggy back tune. I definitely would prefer a true ecu but this jb4 has been really solid so far and the performance difference is night and day from stock
@JSNFARRELL
@JSNFARRELL Год назад
@@KonaNthusiast I may have to grab a JB4 at some point. I have used BMS's JB+ on a R55 Clubman S with w/m injection, JB4 on two Mk7.5 GTI (DSG) Rabbit Editions, and JB4 on a FBO Stinger GT. Never had a problem with them and all cars showed impressive gains. Would have ran JB4 on a F56 Cooper JCW we had but went with a Dinan piggyback because the JB4 had little to no development and no results at the time. Hard to risk factory warranty claims getting denied by a flash tune considering the warranty is part of the price you paid for a new car. Kia/Hyundai's warranty is too good to risk losing!
@KonaNthusiast
@KonaNthusiast Год назад
@@JSNFARRELL yeah JB4 is a solid option for Kia Hyundai warranty. Can’t be the 10 year warranty

What have you been doing tire wise - are you sticking with the OEM Pirelli or using something else? Noticed the price of a set and thought, damn, I could buy HP/UHP tires from a dozen other popular brands for that if not less...
@KonaNthusiast

So after my Pirelli tires, I bought Continental dws06+ all seasons. I now have Michelin pilot sport 4s all seasons, both are really good for UHP All seasons

Fuel injectors hmm keep your injectors healthy keep your tank full and make sure where you get gas Cycles through a lot of gas no water stay out of eco Eco slams the injector shut very tight the tiniest minuscule amount of water not good stay out of eco
@KonaNthusiast

I haven’t heard of any issues with these cars being in eco. The fuel injector issues seems to come from the injector being stuck open after doing a pull. But I’ll keep this in mind
