Finally!! I have a 2011 Hyundai sonata and no body’s been able to find the problem, im from Jersey Your shop is about an 130 from me about to schedule an appointment for this
Thank you for this video. I pump gas for my 85 year old neighbor and recently had the issue with her '04 Sonata not filling with gas. After watching your video I realized she needed to have the car worked on to get it resolved. The video was very helpful.
I have a 99 Hyundai , same thing just started. Gas going in one gallon at a time. Looked under the car and found the canister. Webs all over the place , found a brown widow. Now seeing this post I have to go back and check my air flow. Thanks so much for this awesome video. My car has 92,000 .
I don't know that spiders are attracted to gasoline, but they like to build webs in clean, dry places. You probably won't find spiders where there's oil or water dripping, but a clean fuel tank venting tube seems like a perfect place to build a cosy little spider home. :)
totally worth watching to the end of this one - I have the opposite problem - I tried to siphon from my own tank and got that check-ball (roll over protection) stuck open. Will try to tap it with a hammer and see if I can unstick it, without having to replace the tank. I noticed it when a friend was following me up a mountain road and saw gas leaking out my gas cap and down my fender due to incline. Also was getting EVAP large leak codes on scanner. Wish it was a gasketed, serviceable part!
New subscriber. Why? You describe things in detail but in a language I understand. I have a 09 Sonata with same issue so I'm off to replace some things. Thank you sir. Nice Datsun in the background. The 240z was my first car and the car I had my first crash in. I miss her.
Good video, good communication skills as well as voice projection. My boss and I were addressing the same issue on a Toyota 4Runner today. I watched your video until the end. I learned something as well.
Bought a 2002 Sonata back in 2013. Had the same issue. Unfortunately no one as sharp as this guy tried to fix it. It would take about 7 or 8 minutes to fill up the tank. Unrelated to this problem, it started having electrical troubles as well that were never resolved. Not wanting to throw good money after bad, I finally junked it after only 1 year. Worst car I've ever owned. Having said that, people I know that have much newer models state they really love them. Don't know if I'll ever buy another Hyundai, but I do believe they have improved them a lot.
I was expecting more than that vent and canister check and there is actually 3 additional things, two you mentioned and there is another at the filler hose that appears to also be some sort of valve. Those two that you mentioned, are they electronically controlled? One is called OVRV valve and the other is 2-way and cut valve, the other one is the fuel shut off valve. I will be diagnosing this issue and lets see what fun I find.
Hi. I have the same issue with 2003 sonata been trying to solve. Not getting any codes. Where exactly is that valve located? (Next to the fuel pump on top of tank?) yours is the only video I found with this fix.. Tks for your help.
Hey buddy im considering buying the same car 02 senata w the same problem( as described by seller) about how much would this repair cost? Very important i know! Tha ks buddy
I have a 2002 Santa Fe 4 cylinder 2.4 with 265k! It seemed to be having these pump shut off issues, but I was blaming it on the pumps. It was intermittent. Then, it started running poorly after only using up 3 or 4 gallons of what appears at the gauge to be a full tank. Now, I can only add 2-3 gallons. I basically have to keep if full to get decent performance. (Is it actually full?) I have noticed the sound of air coming out of fill valve. I have put my finger in it to release it and was able to add a little more fuel. The problem seems to getting worse. No error codes. I did get one 6 months ago, I don't recall which one, but it was suggested to change the gas cap. I did, even though it had been changed a few years ago and looked ok. No codes since. Would the issues that you have addressed be the cause of my problem? Thanks for the video!
Hi my parents toyota matrix is doing the same thing as this hyundai we can't fill the tank with out it clicking off. My question is have you ever had this problem on a toyota matrix before? thanks
my car doesn't do this... but it doesn't like to run after putting in gas... I can put in more than a 1/2 tank but it won't run properly and returns horrible gas mileage until 1/2 tank or below... after opening the fuel filler cap, it's like it takes it forever to build enough fuel pressure to run... it runs fine after a little while (very rich after finally starting) & once it runs 5 mins or so with revving a bit I can go just fine until I put in more gas... then it does it again. I'm not sure what it is but maybe one of those valves is stuck open... changed the charcoal canister but that didn't do anything... I think the vent valve on the canister is seized open and just ordered a new one plus a tank pressure sensor...
Skill far exceeding not only many a garage, but dealer services also. 28 months of P0455, many parts replaced, and not a one of them can figure it out.
@@MorFabIndustries Thank you for your encouragement, here and via email. I took it to a garage in Western Massachusetts. They said my local garage put in a short lived purge valve (lasted less than a year), a plastic fuel line (that split in less than a year) and there's gas fumes coming from the fuel pump - they hope it's only the O-ring, and not the fuel pump. Parts are on order. Fingers crossed, this clears up the P0455.
@@bambam20003 Yes, it did. The fuel pump was fixed and apparently no one had taken a look at that. It's been fine ever since. Well, the fuel pump was fine. The crap fuel line blew a leak, and the gas from that wrecked the driveway. The fabulous repair shop in Western Mass was in Chicopee. Long ride for me, 1.5 hours, but a great job. Car now has 227K miles and still going.
