The actuator on my 17 Elantra went out and I couldn't open the drivers front door from the outside. Hyundai wanted $1500 to fix it. I bought the part on Amazon for $35, watched a RU-vid vid on how to install it, and fixed it in one hour. The prices are insane.
yea it sucks that the dealerships does that! that's why some people have to go to the small mechanics. I'm glad I'm a mechanic and i just do it way cheaper!
Unfortunately, it won't be long until that engine will need to be replaced. Luckily it should be free as part of the recall, but it will fail. When it is replaced, that sensor is included on the new engine. My 2017 Sorento with the same engine failed in December with 66k miles on it. It was a smooth replacement with no hassle, but I try to warn everyone with these engines that they are ticking time bombs regardless of maintenance history.
