I believe this is pretty much the same on every vehicle I've worked on. My daughter's old Suzuki Forenza, I replaced the wiper motor only to have the same problem of it quitting and it turned out the connector got corroded, so don't forget to check the connector if you're looking at the wiper motor.
After slipping, wouldn't those splined shafts at those connections be worn, making it easier for the same thing to happen again under even less pressure?
