Romney you people never learn. Ford should not have pardoned Nixon. It's why we are here. Our focus needs to be protecting our democracy. Talk of pardoning Trump? Sorry, but someone has gotten to you. Sad
Thank you for saying that Ford should not have pardoned nixon. THAT PARDON IS EXACTLY WHY AMERICA IS IN THIS POLITICAL MESS‼️‼️‼️ VOTE 💙 TRUE BLUE 💙 UP AND DOWN THE BALLOT FOR DEMOCRACY AND ALL AMERICAN'S SANITY. IT APPEARS THAT MORE THAN MOST OF THOSE republicans HAVE LOST THEIR MINDS. 💙🇺🇸💚👍😇
@@Life-Dreaming Nixon said " If the President does it it's not illegal." WHAT??? Nixon was not hit anywhere near hard enough. Ford said he pardoned Nixon for the good of the country. It only did more damage. Because we didn't rip that plan out of the republican playbook back then, here we go again and it's even worse.
Pardoning Nixon is a big part of where we are. Also, if billionaires paid their fair share of taxes we would not be in debt so much. GOP helped them pay even less, 1.5 trillion per year less.
Yep. But rich politicians don't dare want us peasants thinking about that. They would rather take some social security away. People can barely live on what they get now. That's an insane idea. Just tax the rich. Way less people affected!
Like always, the Gop show a spine and then they back track. Fail Rommey, big fail. Pardoning Nixon was a mistake then and it’s a mistake now to pardon a president.
Dang thought Romney was supposed to be one of the few decent ones. He dropped a lot in my eyes here. The pardoning Trump, how he spoke about the economy, lots of other tired talking points which don't hold water.
I used to have a fair respect for Mr. Romney, but, at this point... blaming President Biden for the inactivity of the congress triggered by the other guy... the last straw.
Surely, if you go back and review Romney's past, you will lose even more respect for Romney. I can't stand him (See my posts before if you are interested and have the time, thank you@=1
@@lydiabell6218Oh you are so right. He is the bottom of the barrel low and continues to show us that! I have always seen right through him. He also used to be outspoken on how horrible he was.a
He also said this - “We gather today due to a selfish man’s injured pride and the outrage of his supporters whom he has deliberately misinformed for the past two months and stirred to action this very morning. What happened here today was an insurrection, incited by the President of the United States. Those who choose to continue to support his dangerous gambit by objecting to the results of a legitimate, democratic election will forever be seen as being complicit in an unprecedented attack against our democracy." -- Mitt Romney, January 6 2021
WHAT...Romney says the Dems and Repubs need to come together...to work together. Then suddenly...he says on the border issues. The parties worked together on a border program...and Trump blocked it. THEN he says...we need a border program. And Trump did a good job?? Huh...?? I'd vote for the commentor to be a Senator!!
trump did nothing during his administration when it came to the border. even when pelosi put money on the table for his wall, he refused it. all the images the media post on biden's border are photos of the caravans that came during trump's border.
There's nothing embarrassing about jailing a former leader, who deserves it. But not jailing anyone who clearly deserves it shows weakness through favoritism. It says "kiss the right butts and you'll get away with murder".
Mr. Romney, you voted to impeach Trump for the insurrection. Now you would pardon him. No, there should be no pardon for someone who tried to overthrow our government. You just lost all credibility.
The truth is the Rhinos & Democrat hated & fearTrump because Trump know how corrupt they are.... Trump a billionaire does not need the Government money to pay him, but to Make America Great Again. Trump want to serve Americans, Biden want to make millions by hook or by crook.
How is having an investigation into a fraudulent election "overturning our government?" The fact that you're even defending the government here tells the difference between Trump supporters and you fascist communists.
@@b.t.2795Especially when they might have done horrible things in office, like lie about Iraq, or whatever. Actually, common sense is they should be held to a much higher standard.
Romney is simply wrong on so many issues - of course you don't pardon Chump, that just rewards multiple criminal acts. - he talks about fiscal responsibility and deficits, yet fails to mention the 8 trillion dollar deficit Chump and the GOP racked up over 4 short years. - he rants about the border, which has been an issue for many decades now. Where was his leadership on the border in his many years as a Senator? - he rants about entitlements meaning social security and medicare, yet nary a word about reforming the income tax system for the minimal taxes that the wealthy and corporate america pay. Romney is the arch republican ... talking in generalities yet never any actual and detailed plans to fix anything he talks about.
Yes. There is no virtue in mercy without justice for the insurrection fomenter (and US top classified military secrets absconder, insecure storer, blabber and perhaps seller to US adversaries) who via Giuliani sold US presidential pardons for $2 million each.
Disappointed with Romney. Thought he would be more honest now he is leaving politics. Seems the GOP are all just the same, just a tiny % are game enough to tell it how it is. Once again a collection of spineless grown men and women. Shame on you all, may your legacies show this up. Good example: Rudi and his ending up in the gutter.
You’d have pardoned someone who instigated an insurrection against this country? How ignorant. That’s just telling enemies, foreign & domestic, that they can do anything to this country & get away with it. That statement made me lose huge amounts of respect for you. Shameful!
Back when he had more of a conscience - “We gather today due to a selfish man’s injured pride and the outrage of his supporters whom he has deliberately misinformed for the past two months and stirred to action this very morning. Sen. Romney is a decent man. He doesn't want to see decent Republicans lose their positions in Congress. Trump is another story. He knows Trump destroyed the GOP's decent congressional members by employing "lamebrains" to do his bidding.

Romney is a great example of why people should look past appearance and cadance, he’s just as deranged and dangerous as anyone in the maga crowd, which he proved in this interview.
He seemed to have come to his senses a while back. Now he talks the same BS as all the billionaires, again. No money for poor people, only tax cuts for the rich...Shame on you.
Are you against the child tax credit Mitt? Every American doesn't benefit from that? I didn't go to college and I'm not going to cry because somebody got a benefit that I'm not getting.
The problem with this line of thinking is the idea that forgiving student debt is "giving away absurd amounts money." A very small portion of it would be, sure. But the overwhelming majority of student debt is interest.
@@TqSNv9R0iG5Ckxew He was at one point beginning to sound reasonable. I knew they're all the same. However, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. I truly respect the Democrats because they're consistent in letting their people know when they're wrong and to step aside.
No,it's better for Americans to know the flawed reasoning Romney uses. Like all of us, Romney is not perfect. When it counted, he chose impeachment at the cost of his career. That is something to be admired.
I blame Stephanie for this interview...they NEVER push back on some of these ridiculous statements from republicans....she could've followed up with some hard hitting questions but she let everything fly...the media sucks!!!
@@mamaj7104 maybe it's when during hurricane sandy he suggested people should move into their second homes due to flooding. republicans are far beyond out of touch with the average voter, but they know to trick to low iq voters and that's their base.
He is just one the guys on the fence of decency because one minute he says give to the poor and the next he doesn’t want to forgive student debt. Most students are from poor families and working their way through school and racking up debt. But we can give money to other countries and make weapons of mass destruction with tax dollars. And no one says a thing! It seems to me when comes to doing something good for people here it’s a problem but for war it is not an issue.
A rich man who doesn't get it. He sometimes sounds reasonable but then he falls back on rich guy mentality. Republican plan, nobody but the rich should attend college. The rest of us are just peons that serve the rich. Elevator garage for his vehicles. Just like you and me.
And Obama using the IRS to harass his political rivals….and Biden using his position to get paid… and all the clowns on Capitol Hill getting inside info and trading stocks on it and going from a net worth of $1 to 100,000,000 dollars…. But yea it’s all trumps fault….
Romney thinks pardoning Trump is an answer to the criminal actions of Donald J. Trump., what a moral failure he is. And yes Mitt Romney wants to dismantle Social Security!
This made me really sad. I had high opinion of him. Listening to his thinking about pardoning Trump is the most revealing thing about him that is disappointing. Looks like the rich are loyal to the rich no matter what.
If he's so worried about people putting food on the table, why is he for cutting benifits for seniors? We struggle now to feed ourselves with the amount we get. Is it any wonder seniors have to apply for government assistance (food stamps) to get by?
'I’d have pardoned Trump' - incredible. ZERO accountability. Just forgive a man of all his crimes when he, at the TOP of the list, should have known better. How embarrassingly poor.
Romney realized that he cannot afford to leave the US that is why he is declaring his forgiveness to Trump. He’s making sure that he is safe from Trump’s revenge when he becomes president of the US again.
But he won't, thanks to people like Charles Koch and Leonard Leo, and the Federalist Society, our Judicial system is now profoundly corrupt. Besides, we may turn into a fascist country pretending to be a democracy in 6 months. Then prison will be for political opponents, immigrants, other "non-desirables".
Willard Romney is not to be trusted. He has a superior being attitude that bothers me. He reminds me of two “male authority figure” pretenders from my boyhood: a gynecologist who considered himself an authority on everything and a Doctor of Education who fancied himself an historian. Both men had obvious defects but somehow were considered “respected members of the community”. Pardoning Trump is a colossal mistake. Ford’s pardon of Nixon was a monumental error. I hope Willard’s exit from public life is permanent.
I think Romney is a decent man who does want the best for the country. I don't agree with everything he says and I think he understands many don't agree with what he says but believes that we can have disagreements without rancor. What I am troubled though is if he does believe that democracy is at stake and is fragile that is even more reason why those who have tried to undermine democracy should be held accountable. His argument seems to be that Trump shouldn't be prosecuted is on the basis of politics but if he does believe in principle then Trump absolutely should be prosecuted.
This interview changers my mind on whether Mitt Romney would have been a decent president. Romney as president would have ushered in even more layoffs and corporate tax cuts, reduced infrastructure spending. Less money for libraries, teachers, cops , firefighters.
Extreemly. He said the public doesn't have the desire or stomach for a trial. Quite the opposite, this country is gonna fall apart at the seams without one, and without January 6th being adressed.
Soooo- Grump tried to basically throw out the 80 million votes Against him - negating the " will of the people", which Repubs supposedly cherish so much, and he sits there and talks about Pardoning ?!? Grump telling the world that he is more important than what 80 million people want. And he's not stopping the lies. No way- prosecute him to the fullest-
“Character comes first” … 2 minutes later: “I would’ve pardoned Trump” - And here I thought Romney was one of the few Republicans left with some semblance of a spine. SAD!
Exactly! Just when everyone thought Romney had come to his senses, he goes back to being "Mitt the Twit". Why in the world does he think a pardon for trump is in order. SMH
Wow, if my memory serves me, a head of state is given pardon powers to pardon guilty people convicted for their crimes. Not meant as a get out of jail card. Which is why a self pardon is not a thing.
Seriously...WHY wouldn't he. Trump is a scrooge of America. An immoral uneducated despicable man. And Romney as supreme leader of lds principle refuses his faith in renouncing Trump. This is despicable.
Romney is a typical Republican hypocrite! This is the way Republicans are. The disgusting thing is that so many Americans who have no business pulling the Republican lever, stab themselves in the back by doing so, not knowing they contribute to an ever lower standard of living for their children and grandchildren and those of us not claiming millions in the bank.
Nice talk Mitt, nice talk which is speaking with forked tongue. Mitt you went to New York and kissed the ring of the former to become Secretary of State..and you want former pardoned…really…you talk about working together and just blah blah fake talk.
Of course these traitors wouldn't hold their own accountable. Thats why I laughed out loud at team Trump's argument for absolute immunity and basing accountability on an impeachment/conviction. We already saw how they handled a righteous impeachment of a fellow Republican. They would never impeach one of their own no matter what was done.
Romney makes a lot of sense, I wish more republicans were like him. I think rank choice voting is one thing that could clean up the division in this country. This two party system is not working and if you think it is you are lying to yourself.
mitt says we need to cut Social Security ("entitlements"), because there's nothing else to cut. Well, we spend more on the military than the next 10 COUNTRIES COMBINED (Germany, UK, Japan, France, China, Russia,....), how about only spending as much as FIVE other countries??? We can't give money to college students, BUT we can give billions to GM, banks, Spacex, railroads, finance companies/wall street, .... You can find pages of lists of bailouts.) mitt's a spineless elitist. It's why he lost his chance to be POTUS.
If AND WHEN Trump is finally brought to justice and convicted for his terrible crimes against this nation and its citizens anyone who would dare to pardon him would be saying to the American people that our democracy and protecting it means absolutely nothing.. So tell us all Mr. Republican Romney.. What would be the point of that and how would that make the sacrifices of the people who have fought and died, or been maimed in any way to maintain this democracy feel about their sacrifices⁉️🤔🇺🇸⚖️🇺🇸🗽🙏🕊️
