A long time ago, I took a trip from Colorado Springs, Colorado to Spencer, Iowa (740 miles one way) in my 1973 Saab 99 EMS to take my Mom out for lunch - she couldn't believe I just came for lunch, and after lunch drove back to Colorado Springs. Hey - I was in the Army and had two days off. What better way to spend it than with family. Don't waste those opportunities - they don't' come often and may not come again.

Thank you Tom! Definitely don’t regret it! I don’t know when I’ll drive over 740 miles just to beat you on a nice meal. But I have a roadtrip planned for august to pick up the car from Utah😉. I am surprised that SAAB was reliable tho! I love those cars!

100%! Had a great time. But there was a cost to it. And more than willing to pay it🤷🏻‍♂️. Thank you for watching! I’d imagine it is just as hard to park the hotshot setup as it is to just leave the semi and go explore in Atlanta. But definitely recommend to try and go to the Porsche restaurant. Just gotta make a reservation ahead of time.

If you purchased your own truck, you would have payments as well. Lease Operators have the freedom to go home for 30 days, just like owner operators. The payments do not stop. It is really a personal preference between company, owner and lease. All have advantages and disadvantages

Prime is a great company if you don’t value being home, micromanaged, and thrown under the bus for things out of your control. You’re just a number to them. An asset until you’re not. All this nauseating corporate doublespeak about how they’re all a “family” is downright nasty. Pay was decent for a company driver though, I’ll give them that

Sound like lease wasn't for you. Sounds like it is for him. It was for me as well. My buddy works for ABF and gets great pay but he drives 3rd shift and the same territory all the time. I chose lease and seeing the country, taking spur of the moment trips to go to the Keys, San Fran, the Rockies...etc. and I didn't want to drive 3rd shift. You do realize that those that lease realize they have other options, right?

@Peruviantrucker
@Peruviantrucker 4 месяца назад
@@coachjoshuajones where did you hear that? Usually I would agree. I still think it comes down to timing. Even under the current market you can make some money depending on where you land at a given time. But overall it is pretty bad. The distinction has to be made between money to you and money to the truck(revenue). You will for sure be more likely to bring more revenue to the truck with a trainee/teaming. But after expenses and paying them, from what I hear, numbers are close to solo at the moment. Maybe a bit more, but it’s offset by the space and peace of mind you give up. Congratulations on completing TnT! What are you gonna do next? Short lease? Long lease? Purchase ASAP? Freightliner? Peterbilt?

@Peruviantrucker I've been with Prime for 5 years. I was completely against the efund & was never going to set one up until my fleet manager said one statement. He said it's not fair for Rob to have to pay your truck payment while you go home. That made sense to me so I have one ONLY for that 1 reason. I bought my truck a couple years ago & I quite frequently go home for 29-30 days (Prime wants you to be dispatched on 1 load every 30 days unless you completed your lease then it's 60) The reason I can do that though is because my fixed cost with prime are only a couple hundred bucks a week so it's really cheap. There's no way realistically you can go home for a month with that expensive truck payment. Although after years of being OTR with prime I completely understand being burnt out & wanting to live life for a change
@WestCoastTruckingCEO
@WestCoastTruckingCEO 2 месяца назад
I'm not sure why ppl still don't get it but ask yourself why Prime would rather put a "lease operator" in that seat rather than a company driver? Theres literally no difference between the two as far as Prime's responsibilities/liabilities are concerned because it's not if the "lease" driver brings anything to the table that distinguishes themselves apart from a company driver. So ask yourself why do they prefer to put a "lease" driver rather than company if you're supposedly supposed to make soooo much more now that you're your own boss 🤣 If you're a "lease" driver at prime I'm sorry to tell you but you're a glorified company driver. In fact you're worse because they're getting you to absorb all their expenses and that's the ONLY reason you're able to tell all your trucker buddies that you're a "business owner" You really thought a mega carrier wanted to pay you more because they are good ppl or they just really liked you????? They aren't and don't, they're like everyone else and doing whatever makes them the most profit. At your expense

@@Peruviantrucker lol you sound mad bro… I’m guessing it’s probably because of my delivery and how I didn’t sugarcoat my message and/or stretch the truth so it doesn’t hit as hard but unfortunately I don’t know how to do that. Don’t be mad at me and respond with a completely baseless claim that only tells me my comment hurt your feelings. Evaluate your situation and answer the question I asked regarding why Prime would rather have a “lease” driver in that seat than company? I already know why but I’m trying to help you have an “ah ha” moment. There’s only a couple reasons an asset based carrier has independent contractors run under their authority. The main reason being a shortage of capital. When a carrier does not have the required capital or ability to finance more equipment, their only recourse to move more shipments is to onboard independent contractors who own their tractor . Technically they could broker out their additional freight but that’s highly risky and creates a significant decrease in control which jeopardizes service so that’s not practical. The other reason would be a time crunch where power is immediately needed and there is not enough time to order, take delivery and prepare new trucks so the option here is also independent contractors that are readily available. On the other hand Prime seems to be taking a page out of CR England’s playbook and treating this lease/purchase “program” as the actual business rather than it being transporting goods. They preyed upon thousands of drivers that did not understand they were being used and CRE was basically getting free labor to move their freight. They did this for as long as they could and there were hundreds maybe thousands of lawsuits they had to address. You know it’s bad when their headquarters in SLC has metal detectors and bulletproof thick glass for personnel to sit behind. It’s one thing if Prime prefers to hire owner ops because they don’t want to invest more into equipment and tie up that capital or need immediate capacity while they wait for deliveries of new trucks. However neither are the case for Prime, they have done EVERYTHING you need to do to prepare a company truck for the road except throw a company driver’s as* in the driver seat. So can you tell me why they push so hard to place the type of driver in that truck that according to their numbers ends up costing them more since “lease” drivers supposedly earn much more? Hmmm probably because they are just really generous right? And fyi probably not the best idea to throw out insults when you have no idea who the other person is and/or their background/credentials to be sure your insult is applicable or makes sense. In this case yours does not because I have 23yrs of experience in this industry and operate an asset based fleet so I’m sorry you took it personally but I’m just stating facts and trying to spark some awareness for these fleece scams. Think objectively please and ask yourself what scenario makes sense
