as i get older i'm not as much of a fan of plastic surgery FOR MYSELF, but it's nice to see what a doctor's day is like in the field. it's certainly an interesting industry and i'm glad that people have access to good and well trained surgeons who really care about their work.
Don't be fooled by how glamorous or superficial this seems. Although she is a plastic surgeon, she is a surgeon nonetheless. She had to get a Bachelor's degree (4 years), Medical degree (4 years) and finish Residency (3-6 years). She's in surgery, a STEM field that is only 19% women!
wow damn, i never realised how long it took to become a doctor in another country. my older brother is a doctor, but he didn't go through all those years :o it is very different in australia. he graduated high school in 2008 with an ATAR of 99.95 and went through the entrance exams and interviews before beginning his bachelor of science + doctor of medicine course at USYD in 2009. it was a 7 year course, and he graduated in 2015. he then worked as a graduate intern for one year before becoming an accredited doctor with the australian medical council. however this year he has decided to go back to studying at a specialist medical college in order to specialise in working with children as a pediatrician. makes me more curious haha, i would ask more about my brother but he moved out in order to attend college :P i am hoping i can be a surgeon one day, i have 3 years before i sit the HSC and start applying for universities. my mum, dad and now brother are doctors. i would feel so much shame if i couldn't follow :(
lastyllobille true but if there ain't enough people to work on , you have to keep practicing on corpse, cuz I ain't go one with degree or not , without at least working on over 800 patients
I made the choice to get plastic surgery and it was honestly one of the best decisions I've made! I totally agree with Anita, plastic surgery can definitely build confidence in people and change their lives
one word. Hero. why? Because she a female in a male dominated field. And on top of that she is also young! What?! she makes it look not only possible but easy. Although im sure it's not that easy to be a plastic surgeon.
She seems like such a nice person! I used to want to be a plastic surgeon when i was younger, getting to see this type of stories online is just amazing! Keep doing this Mode!
It would have been nice to also know how much she studied for her profession or how she keeps up with industry trends in her field during her free time.
Yes, I agree I don't think many people are fully aware of the MANY years of schooling and work required to become a plastic surgeon. And certainly the industry trends need to be addressed when consulting with a patient--for example, if a woman with a naturally softer, more rounded bone structure (the bones underneath, irrespective of the amount of flesh) really wants fillers to create a lot of prominence/contour to her cheekbones...that's going to look awful and it's viewable on far too many Instagram models, etc., so I imagine consulting with a patient will have to emphasize that to give them a result that they love, for many years to come.
She seems freakin' great and if and when I can afford some treatments, she'll be on my list. I would like to get rid of the stretch marks that have been tormenting me for eons.
i don't personally believe in plastic surgery but i support anyone who gets it and the people who perform it, it's not my choice to make for them and if it truly makes them feel better about themselves then i will support them
im in med school in france and this is basically the type of medecine i was dreaming of. But my grades are getting worse so I guess I'll end up being a psychiatrist with a very low income... so much desillusions...
holypicklesmofo Maybe in the US...? In france it's one of the least chosen speciality because the income is very low. But oh well, money is not the key to happiness anyways ^^
In the US the yearly income for a full time psychiatrist is around $180,000. Medical school is much more expensive here so maybe that's why it is in more demand.
While I agree, being a surgeon is a wonderful accomplishment regardless of the specialty. She trained for over 10+ years AFTER university to be doing this.
If I ever became a plastic surgeon I would probably want to work there but I would also want to work at a regular hospital so it would be hard to choose
I can't get over the fact that they inserted the breastimplant with a piping bag? I don't know how I thought they would do it, but I clearly didn't except a piping bag being involved.
***** That's crazy. I'm a pre med and I'm really interested in plastic surgery, specifically facial reconstruction. I never even knew plastic surgeons made that much.
+Lithy .C how does that affect the way she look though? I mean I dont really agree with a lot of thing Bethany does but she is still very attractive...
People are looking at a plastic SURGEON video and I believe it is expected to see invasive procedures, and human anatomy. WHY THE LITTLE BLURRY BOXES on some "graphic images"...Mode channel, common.
how long does it take to become a plastic surgeon because im very serious about becoming one and i know the youtube comments should be where i should be asking but i really want to know and i have heard from so many different year ranges to go to school a become one
If you are in the United States you will need to get a 4 year bachelors in a degree of your choice, then complete 4 years of medical school, then complete a 6 year residency in plastic surgery. So a total of 14 years after high school.
Haha, whoops. We'll just pretend I was counting a master program, since a lot of people do them to make themselves a more competitive applicant to medical school ;)
She's pretty and like charismatic but when I look into her eyes idk.. like do I trust her? She's almost lifeless... maybe I just don't know her or it's just the video
As a final year med student, I personally feel like ending up spending your life enlarging boobs and melting fat, for someone who wanted to be a doctor, is pretty depressing. Plastic surgery is amazing because it literally change people's lives after cancer or horrible accidents, but this is JUST not-necessary procedures on perfectly healthy individuals. You can find a healthy balance with making a good salary and also working in a hospital where you feel like a doctor and not an overpaid estethician.
it's funny how plastic surgerists does never surgery on themselves....maybe its because they know better than anyone than surgery is sontrly bad for human body and health and they dont want to controverse them
Why improve your health and accept yourself when you can spend a fortune to have some inexperience surgeon who got into medicine for the wrong reasons; to cut up your face and body.
+Johanna Banana its a pain in the ass. I play volleyball and jumping its awkward as heck. but I honestly don't think I'm that pretty in terms of face. I've been told I am, but I don't know.
depends. there's more competition in korea and the standards are very different. e.g. they aren't interested in the rounded breast implants. they use more advanced implants, tear drop shaped ones which appear more natural. and there's high demand for eyelid surgery, which may not be the same in the US.
