It looks way less exciting than I thought it would be, and it feels like a lot of pressure to always look perfect since your body is your real estate. I like you showing what a real dancer in Vegas life is like thank you!
We are normal people, exciting or not :-D I do eat a normal diet and feel much less pressure to be thin than when I was in ballet. I stay "thin" (though some would consider me curvy) by exercising which includes the dancing I do for work. This is ideal for me because I love to dance. I personally don't feel much pressure from anyone but myself. It is true that we have certain hair and makeup requirements but this process becomes as normal and natural as brushing your teeth, it's part of your job. It's part of what we get paid for and its built into our schedule. Some shows even supply the makeup and hair tools.
+Kelly O'Donnell You keep doing whatever makes you happy girl. Life is too short to worry about anything else, especially at your age. You are driven and you know what you want. What girl wouldn't want to have those qualities!:)
+Mode Side stepping doesn't address anything, lol. Your intentions weren't called in to question, and in fact she complimented your efforts in interviewing Ms. O'Donnell. Don't be vapid.
+Mode Your reply is "edited" but I can tell it wasn't so friendly the first time. The original comment was not demeaning and whoever made the defensive responsive is probably the worst PR person on the planet
Wow it's great that they're giving us a look into a Showgirl's life. I think doing these types of segments will better educate us and open our minds to not label certain professions (:
I have SO much respect for showgirls! Well, dancers in general work SO hard and it's so admirable, and showgirls have it harder! And the results, the shows themselves are breathtaking! Way to go ladies! :)
I start my first gig as a showgirl next week. I feel really blessed to be able to prep/get this insight before my gig. Thank you so much for making/filming this video. You don’t understand how a simple video of your everyday life is literally changing life’s as you speak. ☀️🌏💛✨
i think people often tend to be surprised at how women view their bodies. if they put on makeup its because they enjoy it and want to feel confident, if they strip its because they want to make money, if they're showgirls its because they passion enough to practice for it. just cuz the things women do are about outward appearances doesnt meant its not done for genuine personal reasons
I just saw the Fantasy show in Vegas a couple months ago (01/20/19) and I was extremely impressed with the ladies talent and professionalism. You can meet them all after the show and they're friendly, gracious people.
Thank you to Kelly for giving a glimpse of her life. Such a talented and hardworking person - deserves all the attention, glam and more she gets. Wishing her the best.
these are real dancers with training. just like a person studies to get a degree. I give them credit. it's a shame the money is all over the place. but my peofession, teaching is very unstable too b/c you are held accountable for test scores, so I'm selling mineral makeup too and looking for others that want to be in business (networking).
I am glad I watched this, she is a hard worker and its awesome to see what a true show girl goes through. Its alot of work and I cant imagine having to do that kind of schedule. YOu go girl!
DAYUM GIRL. That aside, I'm always impressed by professional dancers and Kelly is no exception. Talent, dedication, and drive - looks like for her it's paid off!
Wow, talk about life on the go. 0 to 6 jobs. I could never remember all the dance steps and moves for each job and constantly looking for another gig, job, or show would be too stressful for me. I am glad she is happy doing what she does and gets to dance a lot because that is her passion. For me that life looks too unstable because you are balancing so many jobs, but I guess it offers a level of flexibility to her if she has a few good nights worth of tips or a great month then she may be able to take time off and go on a vacation. Good luck Kelly! Happy for you pursuing your dreams.
As long as I don't have to strip, that would be my DREAM job. Waking up late, going to classes getting my workout, get dressed in beautiful shiny costumes and make up to look my best everyday and just DANCE!! Never have to worry about children, investment, no stress, just DANCE and socialize! Once you get one gig, you get all the gigs cuz you've got the experience. All you need is just your first break.
Like anything else, there is way more hard work behind the scenes than most people can ever understand. Being able to dance and earn a living is so extremely difficult and it's a limited time career. Good job young lady.
Hi everyone! It's me, Kelly, from the video. It's been 4.5 years since we shot this and I've just started my own channel! I launched my first video today. If you'd like to see more, please leave a comment on my video with your questions or video ideas:)
This is sad. She has excellent ballet technique and a great stage presence. I respect the fact that it's her body, her right. But none of the people going to see her are there to appreciate the technique she clearly worked so hard for. They're just there to see one thing. It's sad.
You may not like what she said, but she's right. This is about the glamor, not the art. She tried to come off rather sophisticated. I give her credit in that I'm sure what she does isn't easy, but it's not wholesome or sophisticated like they're trying to make it out to be either.
Ballet is the foundation for every other form of dance. I'm not surprised Kelly is a former ballerina - a classical ballet foundation will get you anywhere in the dance world.
Well, she references the show "Fantasy." If that is what I recall, it's at the Luxor, and yes, it is a "strip" show. Nothing against her or strip shows at all (it was the first one I ever went to). Just saying no need to hide that fact, no need to skirt (pun) it, just own it. And it was a great show btw. She was not in it at the time (ten years ago now).
Thanks for showcasing the "behind the scenes" of life of yours..Seems to be exciting as long as you enjoy doing it..Good luck!! I was in Vegas last new year 2017 and found this to be most exciting and happening city of the United states..
I'm only a twelve year old girl but two months after I started show dancing, I realised I loved it. I love all types of dancing from ballet to hip hop and after my first show, the thrill stayed with me for days. I know it can be so tough even for small scale events and shows so the pressure and difficulty for shows like this must be amazing. She seems so dedicated and happy, I don't think I will ever become a professional dancer but I'll definitely always keep it as a hobby even when I'm eighty.
Ps, people should stop shaming these women for doing their job. It's their choice and as long a s they are safe, why should you care or even have the right to judge? You don't know why they do it and unless you can live in their body and experience all of their life then please just keep your opinions on a nicer level. I'm pretty sure those types of comments can be hurtful.
curiously, what is she going to do once she is no longer "young". What is she going to do at 35, or 40? I hope she has a plan in place beyond the here and now.
This was part of my dream ✨💜 I accomplished half of it but wish I did more! Kudos for living the dream. Ppl don't know what it takes to turn a hand dealt around to make it all the better and worth living.
Thank you for this video, what a great glimpse into the life of a show girl! What fun it must be to get to wear all those fun costumes, you're awesome girl!!! :)
I think the fact that most of the show girls have professional dance backgrounds is really interesting. think a lot of the time due to the stigma, glitter and risque parts of las Vegas it's easy to overlook the dance talent.
If I had a body like that, I wouldn't have to yell so much. If you've got it and you and enjoy, have fun with it! I could see you being a great instructor and mentor later.
Thanks for sharing this, It is sometimes difficult to explain to people who are not in the industry, how complex it can be , Too make a living successfully as a professional dancer.
Hi Kelly. I enjoyed the video. Thanks for giving us an insight into the life of a Las Vegas showgirl. In fact, last Monday (5 June 2017), I watched Fantasy with my aunt, and we enjoyed it. Were you there? I must say that I have a lot of respect for the Las Vegas showgirls. I look forward to seeing more of them.
Wow what a nice girl you are Kelly. Excuse me but for some reason I had a different impression of Las Vegas show girls. Thank you for your video, and I wish you the best of luck!
Well that depends on many factors. For a show you would rehearse usually for a few weeks before going in and then just have clean up rehearsals as you go or if there is a change/addition to the show. What you see us doing at Foundation Room is performance mixed with traditional go-go dancing. We already know the choreography but would brush up together since we only performed each song periodically.
Wow! 😯 😮 This showgirl got my respect. Jersey girl, Jersey woman, good to hear. This showgirl can work and had good work ethics. Revenue Income, side gigs, multiple gigs. Women like that I respect. 🇺🇸💵💰💸 💎 Just watching this video, want I like about this woman is she not a stuck-up woman, “tuff” woman, PMSing woman and she’s not a hustler scam artist. This lady can work, hustle (in a good way), has good work ethics. If dancing is your passion, keep doing what your doing. Stay active, stay healthy and you will get more gigs, more work, which means more money 💵💰💸. Revenue Income. 🇺🇸💵💰💸💎
