I'm a train driver in Belgium. In Zeebrugge they too get into the containers and trailers on the train as we push them onto the peo terminal. Once I pulled two guys from under the train, hanging on the brake rigging. They spoke perfect French explaining to me they just wanted to get to england, not meaning me or the train any harm. Ironically they spoke not a word of English... I kept wondering, why flee to a country where you don't speak the language when a country where peolpe understand you perfectly is only 80km down the road...

I had to give up my job because of this, I was too afraid of getting injured climbing over my loads to check for knife wielding immigrants in the back of my truck. I wrote a letter to the HSE asking if it was safe for me to climb over my load to check for immigrants on my own, they never replied. I had a letter published in one of the trucking magazines, and nothing has changed, in fact it has got worse. I used to have some sympathy with France, as it was a problem bought on by our government making the UK so attractive to immigrants, but France have the answer, they can arrest and remove anyone who isn't in France legally, they just don't want to.

It certainly isn't as easy to get into Australia, Canada or the USA.

If all these immigrants weren't acting like impatient f***s, then they could wait a year or two to get EU citizenship, then travel freely and legally. I'm (for now) an EU citizen, with a passport. When I was in France for a few weeks the police had the right to stop me and ask for ID for no reason. If I couldn't provide it they were allowed to take me down to the station for further questioning. So why isn't it the same for these immigrants?
I have sympathy for homeless people but for a period I worked at an all night convenience store. After dealing with homeless people on a regular basis as part of my job I developed a loathing for them. I once again have sympathy for homeless people but I also developed an empathy for people who have to deal with those at the bottom of society on a regular basis. It's easy to judge without walking in their shoes.

My mate quit his lifetime job after he had a bunch with a gun shooting at him because they had got onto his truck when he was bound for Italy 🇮🇹 at a petrol stop. They thought he was going to the UK being a British registered truck. When they realised he was going into Europe they shot out his mirrors as he drove. He called his boss, his boss called Interpol and they gave him directions to a armed police barricade where armed police swarmed his truck pulled him out of the cab surrounded him with riot shields and rushed him to behind a barricade ! They had smashed up half of his cargo because he wouldn’t stop. The police had said “Do Not Stop Under Any Circumstances “ The cab had bullet holes in it the mirrors were gone. He dumped the remains of the truck where it was and came home and has never gone back!
I remember when I could backpack all throughout Europe, and not have to worry about violent third-worlders literally everywhere. Just nice, quiet countryside full of lovely people. Now? Well, it doesn't even need to be said,. My children will not be backpacking Europe, that's for sure.

How about trying it on a Tuesday or Wednesday night 11pm - 3am and take a walk round your trailer checking for migrants on your own.. Any publicity is good for drivers, just a shame they picked a bright sunny day to do it on. We are asked how we feel for migrants, how about telling them we could lose our jobs, our homes and be paying fines for years because of what they are trying to do. Lets see if the migrants answer truthfully and say "we don't care about drivers, so long as we get to the UK"

Its a tricky situation. The human in me is saying let them come, lets give them shelter, food, medicine etc but from experience I know that they wont ever give anything back for society so in the end its just waste of money and resources. Societies dont function properly if the number of these types of individuals increase compared to the normal working class and higher educated people.

It’s been a while since Calais was part of England, I don’t think the french would appreciate us invading, I mean it would be easy, they would surrender immediately but they wouldn’t like it.
This reminds me of talking to my grandmother. She has a friend who is an ex-trucker but quit because of Calais. Apparently he had a spray-painted nerf gun on the passenger seat which worked as a pretty good deterant.
