For those interested I went to Paramedic school.
I’m now a basic level Paramedic called an Emergency Medical Responder - EMR
For our friends in the US it sounds like an EMT but it’s a little higher on the first aid scale. We crew ambulances in rural areas such as remote towns or sections of highway. The next level up is Primary Care Paramedic, the first level that allows you to work in a city. Hopefully starting that in a few months, if we’re not still on COVID-19 lockdown.
The Canadian equivalent to an EMT would be an MFR - Medical First Responder, one level below EMR. The local fire department are all MFR or higher.
