I just thought, wouldn't it be spectacular if every one of her subscribers sent her a book for her library but then realized that there are already over 73.000 of us and that it very quickly would become a nightmare. Still, it's a lovely idea. Maybe if she builds a book barn one day ...
It's hard to tell if you're more crazy or persistent. Whatever it is, as professional builder, I am really impressed and humbled by the amount of work you put into that cottage.
I don't think people realize how crazy it is that she did 90 percent of this build with a JIG saw and it does NOT resemble the leaning tower of Pisa - crazy and impressive lol
@@eleanorbrown2410 Maybe she could bake a nice polish apple cake (just googled and came up randomly!!) Never had one but sounds nice and Rosie seems to make whatever she does entertaining so I’d definitely watch 😁
Oh Rosie, the mystery apple person is probably someone who lives nearby and has an over abundance of apples from their tree or orchard. Maybe they are a little reclusive but still want to Bless you and other neighbours. Just think of it as a very kind gesture ❤
Besides, as a swede I know Swedish behaviors, generally speaking us swedes are shy and out of respect do not want to bother people, not even by talking - just do gestures for others without all the fuzz :)
My guess about the mystery apple giver, is a thoughtful neighbor, I live in America in the state of Alabama, and we share things from our gardens and fruit from our trees with our neighbors who don’t have gardens or fruit trees. But no matter where you live kindness is universal.
Would you consider adding “buy me a coffee” to your channel so we could contribute to your efforts? And I would love to be able to send you a book, as others have suggested! You’re my hero and I love getting to tag along as you do things I wish I could do! 😁😁😁
Try to not put you burnable cut pieces right up onto the house, so that you avoid rodents. Close to the house, up on pallets, for easy access is a great idea. I’d try to save your birch to burn at night because it will burn much longer than most other wood. The smaller stove may not heat your whole cabin, and you’ll be feeding it way more often, including throughout the night. URGENT: You’ll need a concrete/stone/birch base for your stove, along with tile flashing beside the stove to avoid catching the house on fire. You also need to have a pipe/chimney sweep scheduled to avoid fire as well. Creosote builds up and can reach 2600 degrees. I’m not sure how often your pipe may need it. I’d research it. Just thought I’d share my experience.
A friend warned me not to put firewood near the house. Insects and rodents. I inwardly scoffed. Two weeks later the chipmunks moved in. Hooo boi I shoulda listened. Laughing at myself. 🤣
I admire your tenacity and abilities so much. I am silently cheering you on with every nail, screw, sanding, painting and planning endeavor you take! Hip hip hooray!! 😊
Yay , the universe is supporting you Rosie , free firewood , axes , apples and who knows what next ??!! Don't worry about who it is , just thank the gods for the goodies !!! ❤ The little house is so perfect , that's how I would have done it too , you're doing such a good job ❤ (Skyval , on a borrowed computer )
You don't realise the pleasure we get from watching you get pleasure from all your hard work! It's beautiful Rosie. You're so clever. Wish I could come and help with those logs. Please make sure you can keep warm Rosie. Thank you for filming all of the transformation. Much love, Dee, Portsmouth, Uk xx
By the way when you are painting and you take a break, put your paint brush in a baggy so it won’t dry out. Then when you go back to painting, it will be good and moist. I saw this on another site and thought it might help you, I know it will help me.😊
Put the brush/roller in the refrigerator if you are painting the next day. In fact, it can be kept there for several days. Just wrap it up good. The pan also.
For anyone that doesn't use power tools the fact that she is doing nearly all this woodwork with a JIG saw is mindboggling and amazing ! Using a JIG saw for millwork is like trying to draw a straight line with a crooked ruler YET somehow her cuts seem to appear, straight, her joints meet at 90 and everything seems to be flush, plumb, and level - its a skill lol. If I were her I would have asked for sponsorship from Sawstop or a European equivalent or at least buy a good battery-operated circular saw (the powered ones are not so user-friendly for what she is doing) -
Dear Rosie. I live in Norway and I have a little fig tree too. I planted it against the outside of my glass house on the sheltered side and she has been living there for about 8 years now. I get about 15 figs from it a year. It hasn't grown very tall but it seems happy and manages the snow and frosts ok :)
Not sure what kind of figs grow in Norway, but fig's roots tend to find and grow around water pipes, so it is not good idea to have them close to your house.
Hello there, a new senior citizen subscriber here; immediately falling in love with your videos. Love the natural living area and gorgeous natural wood work home. You bring peace and comfort into my home; which is sometimes troubled because I loving care for my dear husband of 60 years who is suffering dementia. He was an amazing worker before his sickness hit suddenly in his late 60s. The land you bought is amazingly beautiful. We have always lived in the countryside but close enough to drive to the cities for him to do his amazing work in so many high end homes. Watching you reminds me of our early days in the beginning working with so little but loving every moment. You are very brave to live alone; that must certainly be a gift.
The live edge on the bookcase shelf fronts is a very nice contrast to the lighter wood. I wouldn’t worry too much about the mystery apple person. If it’s just once a year (and during apple harvest season) it’s likely a thoughtful local person sharing their harvest.🇨🇦
Hallo ❤ I live in Norway, north of Oslo. I tried lots of different wonderful seeds that were supposed to turn into a wonderful meadow. Nothing worked. I was convinced that it was too cold in my valley. At the end of July, I sowed a last-chance meadow. I bought the seeds in Swedish Lidl. I spread the seeds using a simple grass spreading device. After a month, the first flowers appeared! The flowers are still blooming despite the frosts! Unfortunately, the flowers did not have enough time to bloom and spread the seeds, so next year I will sow the meadow again, in May/June. I paid about 50 Swedish kronor for one package of about 100 grams of seeds. It's worth it!
First Rosie you have some sweet neighbors. Your library office/sewing/seating room is inspiriting. I love the idea of a Rosie library when ever you get time for such a project.
Such a nice video💜Your cottage is so lovely! I think the apples might be from someone living nearby? It's pretty common to bring your neighbours excess fruit/vegetables as gifts in the countryside, instead of letting them go to waste.💜
I learned from someone long ago, that using pieces of brown paper grocery sack work really well to burnish a rough surface of wood that has been sanded as well as you can. I have used this often for a final "sanding/burnishing" with excellent results. The wood then takes a coat of varnish, paint, stain, or a polycoat really nicely. I have also made my own buttermilk glazes using store-bought buttermilk mixed with any paint color, to give a really soft color finish on wood. This raises the grain of the wood as it dries, but then I use brown grocery bag to burnish it again.
I just saw this video (first time, signed up). I really thought she had experience with woodworking and electrical training. I’m very impressed with the garden. I would love to hear her back story. She has so much practical knowledge.
I am a 65 year old female and have lived alone for 35 years. I also have done a lot on my own like you. What I learned is, take your time, stop if you get tired or frustrated. Do something else and go back to it later. If you don't, you will mess it up. It's OK. By the way, from what I see of the work you have done so far, you have done an exceptional job. Good luck and God Bless. You will be so proud.
The library just gets better & better doesn't it Rosie 🙌 I love the windows too and although I love Terracota, I agree that the lighter colour is better. Good idea about the ladder on the roof! You're becoming a professional painter, I see - minimal masking tape and a steady hand. Winter's a coming - looking forward to the fire. Apple person could get a bit spooky. Either very considerate of your introversion, or introverted themselves. Perhaps they could write a note, next time.
It’s so nice to see how happy you look with the progress. I can’t tell you how lovely it looks on camera. It’s warm snd functional. It’s really a cosy build. With lots of books for storing stuff.
Good morning Rosie. Interesting sponsor you have for this upload... I live with PTSD and depression and I am always adding new perspectives, websites, etc to my knowledge bank and I'll check this new one and see if it fits with my mental health regime. I have not been able to do any hiking this year (difficult circumstances) and that hurts as being on the land is the best medicine for me. One thing I've noticed with yourself is your regimen - routines are another vital component of my mental health toolkit - and I can see that you value your routines. Last before I say thanks ... your voice lends itself to ASMR... your voice (via this media) radiates calm. Thanks for the upload - it is always great to see you and your work, regardless of any schedule. Take good care and hope to see your next soon'ish. Ta
I am practically speechless on what you have accomplished in 2+ short years. Not the least of which is painting that entire ceiling with a 3-inch brush!
It's quite common in Scandinavia for neighbors to share their apples. And if the swedes are anything like the Finns they won't make a song and dance about it. (Brit living in a log home in Finland). PS you are doing a great job on your home, keep living the dream you're stronger and more confident than the majority in this world.
What amazes me is that you don’t seem to get paint on your clothes!! But I did notice your striped T Shirt had real character with a couple of holes in it!! well done for continuing to wear it Rosie
So happy to see the desk take shape. That window seat and desk will just be your very favorite corner of the world. You'll need some coasters for the chair so you can roll along the desk so much easier between sewing machine, printer etc. The painted windows are a big improvement shining clean and bright. Thank you for sharing as always.
Congrats, you actually have a designated working space now. As in, not for wood working. I hope there will be some movement with your heating situation now that the chimney is working
I love your desk!! As someone that loves to sew that desk is a dream!!! The beauty of it is that you can use it for so many other tasks as the same time!!!! You planned the room well with all the shelves for books and patterns along with fabric too. Excellent job!! Be very proud!!
The clean lines that are so satisfying to you, are so beautifully designed. The symmetry of the framing is so simple, yet it's breathtaking. I can see why you feel so calm looking at it; being in this space. I would feel that way, too. I love watching this little house come together and marvel at how you are doing it. Great job, Rosie.
(to me) you are an embodiment of the sacred feminine... you bring a completely different sensibility to building a life.. thank you from me (and all the someones like me) who find so much vicarious validation in your way.
If you are planting a wildflower patch again next summer…. They like poor soil but I always put in a layer of seed raising mix to sow them into. They have to be watered everyday until they are well established. It might be a good idea to put a layer of cardboard or plastic to suppress the weeds so they don’t have competition. Then when you’re ready to sow take it up
Me too...and to Rosie. I wonder if she knows how dear she is to so many of us...all of us cheering her on! Enjoying her creativity...her delight in the unfolding of her finished designs and projects, her courage...her laughter. She's a gift to my life. Truly.
Wow!! You are astounding!! So gardening isn’t as exciting as building… Do what brings your excitement! Do what makes you awaken filled with happiness!! Love your attitude!! Your desk is fabUlous!! Sewing in the snowy months!! What a delight!!
I just realized that I’ve been smiling through much of this video. Another talent you have 😊 Thank you! It’s such a pleasure watching you enjoy the fruits of your labor.
I enjoy these videos so much because you are so natural. You try things, you fail, you get annoyed and then somehow you still manage to do it. You should be so proud of yourself! ❤😊
Hi Rosie, during the Fall/Winter seasons, and feeling cold try this. Mango fruit or juice add as much Cayenne pepper as your tongue can tolerate or as little at first until you get used to the cayenne pepper and a dash of salt on the mango. Eat it or drink it if it is juice and your body will feel warm or you will begin to sweat a bit. It opens up your veins and circulation will begin to flow. No more cold. You can also take cayenne with anything else if you dont like mango. Cayenne pepper is the key.
Love your live edge shelves Rosie! Beautiful work in your library. I think it looks like a lovely, natural Swedish sauna cottage ❤. Looking forward to seeing your wood stove!
Beautiful... Have you thought about shutters for outside your windows? It'll give you added insulation as well if you get a bad winter. Your little house is beautiful. You should be so proud of yourself. Well done. 👏😍
I don't know when you can expect a hard frost, but I do hope it is far off and long enough away for your little berry bush to put down some deep roots. Your office / library is really beautiful.
Loving how this is coming along! On your behalf I am looking forward to when you can move back into the main house🤭😍 It’s going to be so nice, and warm. And how is the purchase of a fireplace coming along?
Rosie you are truly an inspiration! I will be taking an extended road trip next month and I may very well end up taking it alone. A friend wants to join me, but she’s not yet been able to work out the logistics of everything on her end. Although I’m very independent, I’ve never spent so many days on the road by myself. There are things I want to see and do along the way, but I’ve been asking myself if I am brave enough to do them alone??? I may never pass this way again, so I’m trying to psych myself up in advance to be able to do them by myself. I know God is ALWAYS with me, so I’m not fearful… just uncomfortable I guess. Regardless, I marvel at what you have taken on by yourself, living so far away from town without even a car. If you can do this, surely I can be on the road without a friend for a week. Thank you Rosie… sending lots of ❤️ from Texas 🤠!!!!
You can absolutely do it! 100% go by yourself if your friend can't join. Not only will you experience the trip you've wanted to do, you'll also have the experience of doing something solo. And that might just open up the world to you in a completely different way :)
Rosie, your house is really starting to look amazing, and looking from your office into the kitchen I would imagine is so pleasing to you as well, the cohesiveness and all!!! By the way, a bird flying into your home is a special thing to have happen, your house is even lovely to the birds. Good for you!!!
Once again, a beautiful video. Thank you. I appreciate your calm demeanor and detailed approach to making the library functional and stunning at the same time. Can’t wait to see the plans for the banquette. 💕
If someone asks what you bring to the table you can tell them you built the table. P.S. A pro tip for when you do finish nailing on trim. Flatten the points of your finish nails. On wider trim it doesn't make much difference but on thinner pieces it'll prevent the wood from splitting. The flattened head of nail crushes it's way through the wood vs splitting it like a normal nail would. P.S. The library/workspace looks great. Well done.
Lovely lady building lovely things, creating calm and beautifully crafted spaces. Amazing, love just watching and admiring your calm persistency. 🧝🏼♀️🧚🏼♀️👸🏼💖
Rosie, you are so inspirational.. doing what you’ve done virtually all on your own is incredible. Leave the kitchen ceiling as it is and get the rest of the house finished first. If you feel you still want to repaint the kitchen ceiling then you can but don’t give yourself unnecessary extra work. I love that you are putting your own stamp on your home, a warm welcoming oasis. Be very proud.. not many would take a leap of faith and do what you’ve done.. I binge watched your videos until I caught up and now look forward to the notification of your next video. Keep being you, loving your choices albeit some think it’s a sauna, it’s your choice. The kindness of others is wonderful to see 😊 Thank you Rosie for sharing your journey with us.. love to that you talk to us about your decisions and progress 👌🌻
Rosie you are a real expert with your camera! And the drone♡ How can you do such an amazing job and take care of your camera, all at the same time! This video entertained me so much! The energy of love fills the air! I love your new room. Congrats on your excellence! Good taste and wonderful technics!
Rosie, I get so much satisfaction from watching you seamlessly fit your designs together. You're amazing. Note, if you put mulch ( hay, grass)around your new bushes it will help with not freezing come the winter. Also birds can often come and eat the wildflower seeds you planted. I've had it happen to me quite often. Clean straight lines are definitely satisfying. ♥️
I have just found your channel and am so impressed by your wonderful home and hard work. For easier gardening tho check out the "no dig" method using cardboad and compost. Charles Dowding does a beginner's video which might be useful. Keep going Rosie you're an inspiration! ❤
I love to see the progress you’re making on your cabin. Everything looks beautiful! Do you have a book “wish list” or a list of authors that you like? I know many of your subscribers would like to help you fill up your new book shelves.
The cabin / cottage has been good for you. Doing much better now. Not so thin. Healthier looking now. Enjoy your home. It will be a great plaçe when you get done. Can start showing some personality there. In some curtains to help keep out the cold for Winter. Some color and pattern in fabrics. You work hard. You deserve to truly enjoy your home. No longer having to share with strangers. Spread out and enjoy being there in everything you have built and accomplished.❤
Yes. That feeling to stand back and see hat you have accomplished toward an idea that originates in your mind's eye and is completed with your own hands. It is a feeling I hope everyone gets to have from time to time! Love the idea of the mystery apple gifter! I hope it stays a mystery to you!
I have asked several time for her to add a buy me a coffee button or a Thanks button but she must not want to. I donate to many of my RU-vidrs. I don't have TV or cable so I don't mind paying for entertainment on RU-vid.
A wood stove would be beneficial in many ways. Keep the mold down or completely away, keep her warm. She could get a cook stove wood burning one then she could cook her meals on it. The RU-vidr Sean from “My self reliance” just put a new one in his cabin. She could watch that. Hopefully her parents could visit and pick it up for delivery to her house so she wouldn’t need to hire a truck. Food for thought! Congrats on a beautiful job well done!
@@Joyfulgrace7777 She has a wood burning cook stove in her kitchen that came with her house but she said the chimney needs repaired. She just had her other chimney repaired and got a wood stove in her living room.
I love the windows too! It’s really coming together beautifully . How satisfied you must be with all you’ve accomplished. I also love to watch you sew . I use to sew clothing I had envisioned but couldn’t find in the stores . It’s something I would like to start up again , you’ve inspired me !
Rosie, I am sooo happy your library is turning out beautifully. Can’t wait to see you use that desk for your sewing. Love that serene space of yours. Even the wild grass growing around your little house looks amazing, sigh🙂
You desk is lovely. I bought a 19th century Scandinavian desk years ago. It’s pine and just about the same size as the desk you made. I love it. Such a practical size for an office or sewing space.
I’m so impressed at your work , I make all my own house hold requirements from wood to material items , its so rewarding . I’m older now , but still do what I can . I love home renovation as well . Born in the UK but lived most of my life in SA. Yes alone it is very stressful when one battles alone. , just take a moment , breath and say that you can do it !! Well done !! Hugs Marie .
Beautiful work. I agree, it looks so satisfying to see all the amazing lines and workmanship you put into the library. You can be so proud of what you have achieved. The room is, cozy, and wraps you up in warmth. A lovely nest to be creative in. Enjoy. 🏡💕
😊yay for another Rosie video. Everything looks so very lovely. Your carpentry skills are becoming pretty serious. I am intrigued by windows that are removable 😮
Oh Rosie, it is so nice to see you standing back and enjoying some of your work! The desk looks lovely. Look forward to seeing your banquette completed too!
It looks great!!! It looks good to sit at the workplace and have the window in front of you and have the opportunity to look out at the garden. If something messes up a lot and I get irritated, I do something else. The brain thinks about solving the problem without thinking about it and the second time it goes much better. It looked like that with your table top.
I love watching how you innovate as you only have your own two hands. I too have used my feet and even my head to hold things in place. 😅 It's looking adorable.
