It took me til 40 to stop, and I only stopped because I nearly died, and they legalized weed the same year so I could use it as a crutch to ween me off alcohol. Good for you stopping early, the only safe amount of alcohol for your health is no alcohol.
I think the lesson here is the exact opposite. He took control of his life at a point where he still had the power to do so. He has made the decision to never take another sip of alcohol. Sticking to that decision isn’t easy, but necessary
