I'm a 47-year-old ARMY from Brazil. I got to know BTS through my children, and I don't regret it. At the time, I needed a boost. BTS were my salvation. I love their music, but in reality, I fell in love with them for who they are because they are humble, fun, and sincere in everything they do. They're not like what other artists try to make out.💜💜💜💜🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

For me, it was their content that pushed me over into ARMY land. Euphoria and Serendipity and Awake snagged me, but carpool karaoke, Run BTS and music show appearances really changed my mind about BTS. I’ve been a Coldplayer for over 22 years, and I’d never really felt anything behind others music like with Coldplay. Then I “met “ BTS after 5 years of my daughter nagging me about them…and suddenly music made me FEEL again. 💜

I’ve been to a few live BTS concerts. I’m 69 and my daughter is 40 🇨🇦. There are all ages, genders and nationalities there and NEVER does anyone ever feel out of place. It’s more of a mutual two way love between BTS & ARMY. Never have I seen anything else like it. It’s a spectacle with anything from fireworks to water canons to fire to confetti to bubbles and excellent sound, props, stages, costumes, lighting and on. No one does it like BTS. The fans even give each other little gifts at the concert. It’s unbelievable. We are ARMYs forever! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I can only speak for myself, of course, but here's why I love BTS: 1. The music. What I value most in music is lyrics, and BTS has so many songs with amazing lyrics, whether because they are poetic, or really smart, or incorporate ideas I like to see explored in art (like the Carl Jung theories), or because they're just fucking real and genuine (the rap line songs). 2. The guys. It definitely helps to connect even more with the art when you admire the artists. And through watching all the content they put out other than the music (the lives, documentaries, reality shows, interviews) I did develop a connection to them that's akin to love. It's weird to say you love someone you don't know in real life but I think I do. I'm happy when they're happy and I'm sad when they're sad or hurt. 3. The performance. I think it's a miracle that we have a group with such good music, such good people as members AND striking performances as bonus.

Not many artists are as genuinely thankful towards their fans cause not as many artists have as much to be thankful for. RM the leader has said that ARMY was able to bring this “idol boyband” singing/speaking in Korean from a small nearly bankrupt label to the heart of the world’s music industry in the US. What BTS has been able to do is INSANE if you think abt the world’s music industry was like 5-10 years ago. BTS has the first non-English song to get a #1 on the hot100 with Life goes on. They literally paved the way for the Asian music market, specially K-pop (despite them being an anomaly in the industry, just having the K-pop label attached to BTS elevates the entire K-pop industry and allows K-pop artists to have opportunities they didn’t get before). And the most amazing thing is that there are no better people to be in the position they are in. 7 genuine, kind, open minded, generous, hard working, intelligent men.

Firstly, I appreciate you sticking with it and trying to dive a bit deeper into BTS. I did think at first that you had preconceived stereotype ideas about them, which many people do, however the fact that you are willing to try and pass that and open your mind to them and their music, is admirable. I am a 62 year old woman (also living in Scotland), who discovered BTS two years ago, so have had many years prior (and since) of listening to a diverse range of other music. I do love their music, although obviously have a few songs that I like less than others. Whilst I am part of Army because I love their music, however, I don't just stay for the music. Having spent the last two years watching their videos and getting to know their personalities and the messages they give, I have grown to really admire them as people. In addition to being willing to show Army their vulnerabilities, they are also humorous, with big personalities and are extremely funny. They have a diverse range of genres of music as a group and as 7 individual artists and all are very talented. When you listen/watch to their individual solo music, you would not expect them to be in the same group, but amazingly, it works. Another reason I have become an avid fan, is that their lyrics mean something. Their lyrics and MVs are multi layered and so they don't just write about romantic love, like many groups do. There are always deeper meanings, e.g. if a song is about love (obviously there are a couple), it is usually not about romantic love, although it can mean that also, but of love/acceptance of self or a relationship with yourself. Their music makes us think also!

Hi, I just happened to come across this video. I appreciate you giving BTS a chance to find out more about them. I stopped halfway through since you were commenting on how discouraging it must be to win an award and then be accused of cheating. I can’t remember if you said you saw BTS Hardships yet there’s so so much they endured non stop and are still going through. I’m older too and became ARMY shortly after their debut. I have liked all kinds of music, yet find that the lyrics, music speak volumes. In the beginning, it was mostly RM and Suga that wrote the lyrics though now, all of them write. Suga originally was hired to be the music producer and still does so many producing, as well as for other musicians. If you had watched the Taylor Guide, it shows more about each member and how they ended up joining. I can’t wait to see the full reaction on your Patreon and get to know you. I subscribed to see what you honestly think. Also, to those who bother you, ARMY is very protective and there are some toxic what we say True ARMY now are not like. True ARMY tries to help you, explains things, and may have a favourite (bias) member but love all of the members and call that OT7 (One True Seven). I won’t give more information since I saw many good comments. If you find time to watch the Taylor Mari Gudie to BTS and the Hardships, even on your own time, it will really add to your understanding of why many relate to these amazing guys so much! Usually we may recommend songs however I see you react to a variety of music. So, perhaps understanding BTS first May be better. Thank you! Borahe💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🇨🇦👏👏👏

When I found out one of my oldest friends got into this korean boy band in 2020...I was very sceptical about it. I wasn’t informed about the Asian pop scene. Being Asian myself that has lived in North America most of my life, my first instinct was to dismiss their musicality since I didn’t like Asian pop scene when I was younger. When I first listened to their music I was shocked at how much I liked it. I’m a person that is more attracted by the music of a song rather than lyrics so it didn’t bother me to that it was Korean. But I always had an eclectic taste that was more attracted to alternative music. I didn’t like bubblegum music and I thought this is what I would find with BTS. So when I listened to their latest CD at the time, BE I was blown away by their sound! I loved every song! So I downloaded their whole discography and went down the rabbit hole! But I will admit...although I became a fan of their music, I only became Army after I started to watch these documentaries and got to know them! I started to binge watch all their non music content and fell in love with all 7 members. This love for them got deeper after I listened to their music with the translated lyrics! This is when I realized their music and message was so deep and special.their artistry truly touched my soul. So I was in your shoes when I first listened to them I didn’t like rap either but after I listened to their rap and got to know their lyrics I found a new appreciation of the genre! I approached them expecting a boyband but now I know them to be legendary artists that moves me like my other faves, cold play and the Beatles!

basically all you see in kpop today is an attempt by the old kpop companies to replicate bts. what they dont understand is you can't replicate sincerity without giving up top down power. they want bts but without the actual freedom which is impossible. it's hard to overstate how new bts approach was in kpop at the time. things like having a twitter account where the actual members actually communicate. making vlogs where genuine feelings are shared. having power over your own music. understand the craft of making music. big three tried to replicated all of this and its funny how you can trace back every step big three took to milestones in BTS' career. like bbma social award 2017 and suddenly kpop groups opened social media accounts etc. I dont think there ever was an artist that singlehandedly changed a whole industry this much in this short amount of time.

I’m going to echo everyone here and say I appreciate so much you trying so hard to put aside your preconceived notions and open your mind. It’s actually pretty rare to see, sadly. I know everyone is saying that BTS is straight up so different than anything seen before but as unlikely as that seems, it’s actually true. I’m a hardcore skeptic and realist. I looked for holes in this whole thing for ages. Here’s what I know: BTS are extraordinarily real, sincere, hardworking artists. They have never lied to us. They have never broken a promise. If Jimin tells kids at an orphanage that he’ll be back later after work to preform privately for them and hang out, he shows up with no camera crew or managers and hangs out with them (the only footage is a short vid shot by one of the kids). If Jin says the first thing he’s doing once he’s discharged from the military is going live to talk to ARMY then he gets in the car (with all the members who came to pick him up) and heads straight to the company and hops on live, still in his uniform. Like you said, this could all look like lip service, but they do so much beyond what they would need to do to keep a loyal fan base. I’m talking hours long livestreams at all hours of day or night, chatting, cooking, playing therapist, taking song requests and singing, even sleeping (Jungkooks lives are wild lmao). They do music show performances which are free for armys to attend, and they also always arrange free gifts and snacks for the armys lucky enough to get tickets. For example, food trucks, meals, cookies and cakes, Godiva chocolate, drinks, flowers, clocks, perfume with 24 k gold flakes. Okay im rambling, but it’s just crazy to me. I’ve never seen a true partnership between artist and fans before. It’s such genuine love and respect on both sides. So deeply unselfish that it broke through to my cold, jaded heart. The implications of such a thing go far beyond the confines of music. Also, when it comes to their music, I won’t say much because I could write a literal book about the uniqueness of BTS artistry, their ability to blend genres, the genius of the compositions and the unique beauty of each of their voices. But i think that’s something you have to discover yourself. I will say 2 things: 1. Don’t try to put BTS in any type of box, genre wise or really in any way lol. They will not fit in it very well. The genre is BTS. 2. The more you know about them, and their story, and the more music you listen to, you will appreciate it more. It’s sort of a natural progression. The goal of their music is (typically) not to make flash in a pan songs that are catchy and do well, but to create deep, multi layered thematic music that grows on you more and more as you listen, and stays with you a long time. Even songs I don’t enjoy at first I come to love as I know more about the meaning, or notice more details. They are very intentional with every aspect of a song. Nothing is accidental, everything means something. That’s why most of their music requires explanation videos😂. Lots of other armys are offering you very good advice. I second it completely. Suchwita is such a good idea for you to watch. Watch the 7 (+1 extra one for Jungkook) episodes with the members starting with RMs episode and you’ll get a good view into how they create music, their relationships with each other, their planning, and hardwork, and their love for their fans. Is like to also suggest videos by Boracity Magazine. She makes amazing video essays about different topics related to BTS and she’s so well spoken and fun to listen to as well as always showing the facts backing her up. I would advise you check out: the problem with the “masterminds” behind BTS, an introduction to BTS discography (from chapter one), BTS are rockstars, why the music industry is terrified of BTS, or how the BTS army changed fandom culture (this one is my favorite!!!! Learn about us too! We’re dope!) But you could pretty much pick any of her vids that catch your eye and it’ll be really good. I’m going to end this here, I’ve subscribed and I’m really, genuinely so excited for you to learn more. Make sure you check out their B sides, tons of gems there! And keep watching documentaries. If you made it to the end of this, you have my respect sir lmao. M

The ARMY is a fandom from around the world, supportive filled with kindness and sharing. It is no joke. It demonstrates bc it is predominantly woman what could happen if women ran the world. It is filled with folks from all walks of life, all ages all professions and we get shit done. The music brings us in and the community keeps us. As a side note I have worked in issues of equality and done corporate training, those RUNBTS especially early on are all just team building. I used to watch and dissect as a trainer. BTS has had so much development to be a great team. The CEO Bang Shi Hyuk is a genius. I am a bit of a business nerd.

60 yr old ARMY here. I look forward to your next reaction whatever it may be as I am very much enjoying your current approach. What pulled me in initially was their choreography, then the music, then their lyrics and finally who they are as individuals, subsets and group. I am a mental health practitioner and what they do in support of self acceptance and self love is so admirable and this is not only found in their lyrics but in the way they comport and express themselves but also in how they support each other and their fans. I love these guys - I have never been a particular fan of any band or artist so to say that friends and family are quite bemused and perplexed by my very vocal support of BTS is not surprising. I think they are incredibly talented and very worthy role models for anyone.

Saying that it’s not their music overlooks completely the fact that it’s their music and lyrics that most of us point to as “proof” of their sincerity and authenticity. It also overlooks their talent as vocal, rap, and dance performers. Yes, we all love them as people, but they are people who are artists and performers. Take that out, and they’re no different than any other philanthropist around the world, and they simply wouldn’t have the same level of reach and influence. It takes ALL sides of each member and what they are as a group, to “make” BTS. They are often compared to the Avengers - the very talented individual parts (members) are amplified by putting them all together. The sum is greater than the parts.

@markabusireactions
@markabusireactions День назад
Let me clarify. What I’m trying to say is, musically they’re a good band, and deserving of fans for their music. But lots of bands have that. The thing that makes them uniquely have the connection with the fans that they have is because of them as people. Which also, btw, bleeds into the music through the lyrics. But if you took the same music and had any other artist write lyrics for it, it wouldn’t hit the same and the same amount of people wouldn’t love that song. The band as the people that they are, they’re the reason they have the level of success right now, it’s more than just their music. Which isn’t to say that music isn’t important, of course it is. Basically I’m saying they have this X factor as people that make the fans love them more than just regular fans like regular bands. It was supposed to be a compliment.

Also the fact that they show us what's real the shores behind the scenes they don't just give us a piece of art they give us a window into the reasons that the artwork was created.

I worked for Tower records in Seattle just before and during the Grunge boom, shared a house with members of 2 very famous bands, got taken out for drinks by one musician who sadly succumbed to the pressures of success and having too much money. I have always been into many types of music, including rap, and that includes songs in several foreign languages - it wasn’t a stretch for me to like a band with primarily Korean lyrics. I had a bias against kpop I think because of some preconceived notions, so I never could have foreseen my devotion to BTS. I’ve been into them for 5 years, but what really cemented that was how they got me through the pandemic, through the loss of a family member to it, to the horrific isolation I felt and the stress of a job that nearly killed me. I 100% would not have gotten through it without their music, their livestreamed concerts, and all of the content they put out, including Run BTS, their show that makes me nearly cry with laughter. It’s that, plus the fact that their music is so damn good - almost every song of it. There are maybe a couple of songs I’m meh about, but that’s it. When I finally got to see them in concert after the pandemic, I can’t even fully describe how joyous an event it was. Every concert is like that. I have made Army friends for life, sharing hotels rooms with people I hadn’t met before. It is like being a teenager again at a sleepover. Why would anyone *not* want to feel that way… to fully immerse oneself in that joy. So yeah….as we Armys like to say, “I’m in this Bangtan sh*t for life.”

Hi, I am really enjoying you teetering on the edge of the purple abyss. 😄It's interesting that you want to know more about BTS' speech at the UN. That is how I discovered them. I was at university and on a wall that I passed daily there was a drawing of a young man's face, the words 'BTS: End of an era tour,' and a short quotation. 'No matter who you are, where you're from, your skin colour, your gender identity, just speak yourself.' This kept me company for weeks as I came and went from my studio. It cheered me up when crits didn't go well and eventually I decided to find out more because it fitted so well with my own ethos. The rest as they say is history. The guys have seen me through some difficult times with the lyrics to their songs. Made me laugh with Run BTS and brought me back to listening to music which I had abandoned along the way. I wish I could thank the person who made the drawing and let them know what a difference they made. 💜

I’m a pandemic ARMY and liked them cuz my kids could dance to them. I was amazed by their dance moves, then to find out they write and produce. Then to Realize that they are poets and also respected for their musical chops. Respect for all that. Then I deep dived into them, their discography and message of inclusion. Our world needed unity and self love messages. their personalities helped me find joy during a depressive episode, and I felt no Guilt over liking a boyBAND group, because they weren’t superficial, they had the talent and heart to back it up. And they helped me to braver, learning to love myself and not apologize for it. Their message as well as their amazing stand alone talents combine To be so much More. And we recognize they are real. Not perfect but still beautiful. The way we all are and they treat us with respect and, in turn, we try to give them that same right. RM had even said that ARMY isn’t crazy and don’t do crazy things. They love us/BTS and without their devotion, we would not have achieved our dreams. We want to help them achieve theirs. Can’t wait to see which songs you hate the least… haha… not everyone’s cup of tea, but you recognize the effort/talent and that’s appreciated!!!!

I'm 55 yr old Army since 2018, my sister who is 60 now introduced them to me, oddly not thru their music, but by their dance practice video's, I love watching people dance, & they blew me away, I at 1st only entertained her by watching them whenever we were together, but then I went to see their 1st movie Burn the stage, and it was the fans who hooked me, all these people in the movie theater acted like they were your best friend, I thought if a group of 7 Korean men can bring people together like this must be unique, and as we all say, I just wanted to learn their names, then down the rabbit hole I fell, binged all their content from 2013 to 2018 and never once regretted it, well I regretted not finding them in 2013, but so glad I found them before they really hit it big in the US. Never in my life have I seen a group give so much love and attention like BTS does, they make you feel like we are friends & family not $$$ signs like many Western artist, after award shows western artist go to these big lavish after party's, BTS go online with us and celebrate, same thing they do on their bday's, they go live on weverse and give us their precious time I loved their music even though I had no clue what they were singing about, but I checked out the English translations to find out, the lyrics give you hope, love & strength to get you thru your own troubles.💜

Yes I’m turning 31 this year, I’m born the same year as Yoongi(Suga/AgustD) 1993. Okay long comment ahead and hopefully I don’t start rambling lol! I love their music, but for me personally I wouldn’t have gotten to know them if their lyrics weren’t meaningful and genuine. Because their lyrics had a message, I wanted to learn about them a people and once I learned how honest, genuine, caring, hardworking, inspiring and playful they all were, well that was it lol! Of course they have some songs that i don’t listen to as much, I personally enjoy their self-written/self-produced(Of course they work with others too) music most. But even when the Vocalline sings songs not written by themselves I love them because they really embody the emotion and feeling with their voice and performance(You don’t have to experience a specific situation, to connect and empathize with the feeling). I honestly am more attracted to their sad, melancholy, self analyzing songs. But I also love their fun, upbeat, but still have an impactful message songs. I can pretty much listen to most genres of music sounds, but if the lyrics don’t connect to me I will never look farther into the artist. When I first stumbled across BTS(I believe it was a reactor I was watching at the time, so the first few songs I heard were off his reaction videos) I heard a few of their title tracks and they were obviously catchy and entertaining enough for me to casually keep watching. I finally watched the Save Me MV and really liked the song, but I also realized that I had trouble differentiating everyone but RM and Jin(I didn’t know their names yet) and that bothered me. So I watched a guide to learn their names, faces and a little about them. In the guide there was a clip from a New Years video the guys did and Yoongi(Suga) was talking about how he hoped ARMY’s dream came true that year, but also if you didn’t have a dream that it was okay, he just hoped we’d be happy. That hit me really hard and then I learned that clip inspired a song called Paradise. When I read the lyrics I felt a weight left from my shoulders, I knew I was ARMY from that point on. which is kinda crazy because there had been a few different artists throughout my life that had really impactful music on me, but for whatever reason it was never enough for me to sit down and learn more about them as people. It’s incredibly hard for me to name just some of my favorite BTS songs(It also changes often lol), but I love all the songs off the albums Wings and Love Yourself: Tear! There’s too many group songs to name and this comment is already WAY too long lol! P.s Most of Jin’s songs hurt me in the most beautiful, “I feel seen” kind of way. Though he does have upbeat ones I love too lol! My favorite Jin solo songs are Awake(Actually all of the solo songs off BTS’ Wings Album are truly incredible), Abyss, Yours, Tonight and also his Demo version of Epiphany(It just feels so much more raw to me then the final version, which is still beautiful).

I really love that you are looking into the phenomenon that is BTS. I find it fascinating, too. My eldest daughter tried yo get me into them in 2018 and I had similar preconceptions to you. Then, in 2020, my youngest was listening to a ballad, The Truth Untold, whilst washing the pots and I heard V's voice sing "I'm so afraid" and it hooked me. So it was their music that hooked me at first. Over the following week I watched another MV, then another, then a behind the scenes, hen an episode of Run BTS. You are right I think, it is their personalities that make you ARMY. By the way, ARMY is an acronym for Adorable Representative MC for Youth. They wanted their fans to stand up with them and speak out against stereotypes and criticisms, to help form the the bulletproof vest together with them.

I have tried, but I am not into country music. I really don't listen to regular pop music much. Give me Led Zeppelin any day and The Who anytime. I have never fallen for a group like this. I treasure them. They have brought me nothing but joy as I have been dealing with life. I believe you liked a song you reacted to, but my old lady brain can't remember. Was it Save Me? If you do want to react to 'Black Swan' again, and this is just a suggestion, but how about reviewing the whole album (Map of the Soul: 7) from top to bottom someday? Their albums are very thematic. It's one of the reasons I like them. You can put on an album, listen to it from start to end and it gets you thinking about life. I don't know about other people, but I come out changed by the end of them. Even their fun songs are so purposeful with their intention and they aren't afraid to put vulnerable thoughts out there. This despite the hate and malicious attacks they receive on a regular basis which is so extraordinary to me. Knowing about their experiences make there lyrics more meaningful, but strangely I've always liked their music even though I was never fully into rap and couldn't for the life of me ever seem to get into pure pop. Maybe it's as simple as just liking the way they sound. And I've always had a weakness for lyrics, even if they are in a different language. BTS can give me hope, comfort, inspiration, wisdom and sometimes they even challenge my thoughts. I like all of that. But beyond the music, it's who they are as people that makes me go from simply liking them as artists to loving them.

Hiya. fellow Scot from North Lanarkshire here! 63 yrs old retired HR manager and ARMY for 5 years now. I had same pre-conceived notions as you about them. However, during a particularly difficult time in my life, I randomly hit on a song called 'Answer: Love Myself' by BTS and my life changed in so many ways. I would respectfully take issue with your comment about the attraction not being the songs - it depends what you have listened to so far. The vast majority of their songs are far deeper than you might imagine. For example, one of the RAP songs, 'UGH' which at face value is a diss track about their haters is, when looked at more deeply also about the misuse of anger and social media to cause harm. They also are not afraid to delve into very different genres. They have R & B , funk , ballads, hip hop, as well as pop, disco, EDM, Latin pop and more. The 3 rappers in the band are acknowledged these days by US rappers as some of the best in the world. J Hope has collaborated with J Cole as an example. Their leader, Kim Namjoon (they put surname first by the way) known as RM has a 148 IQ and is a serious patron of the Korean Arts scene. I could spend hours discussing them and would be happy to interact with you to help direct you to some of the songs you might find interesting depending on your musical preference.

The saying within the BTS fandom is `You dont find BTS ... BTS finds you.` Yeah I am one of those hundreds/millions of people who had some emotional issues in their life & BTS helped soothe it once I slowly but surely discovered them. I lost my dad near the end of 2017, where he died at the hospital. By mid/late 2018, we were all still depressed but had to face life without dad. Life goes on (double entendre because that is also a BTS song). So when I was perusing through RU-vid, there were times where I was seeing & hearing these singers in certain videos that had nothing really to do with them. One of the very first videos where I saw BTS members but had no idea who they were yet was one popular youtube video of that time a few years ago. It was `One guy, 54 voices` by Black Gryph0n. `God works in mysterious ways`, is another saying. I think BTS has a divine mission on earth & these testimonials from many ARMY helps prove that theory, heh. Also note that these xCeleste BTS video essays are a few years old now & BTS has done tons of stuff since, so these videos are getting more obsolete as time goes buy. BTS now has about 300-400 songs, maybe more, someone else might have better accurate numbers. Add to this songs from their solo projects, mixtapes, television commercials, original tv & movie soundtracks, song covers, features, collaborations, songs written for other artists etc etc, & the numbers go even higher. 10/06/24

For black swan, I suggest you re-watch the music video and then watch an explanation video of the music video, because there are a bunch of Easter eggs that you won't get. The best explanation video that analyzes and breaks down the song is the video BTS - Black Swan MV explained" by the channel Bookish Theories. I personally think the music is what draws most of us in then it’s the amazing live performances and then finding out the boys behind the music. But this also goes back towards the music as their growth and personalities are intertwined with their art. As the only way for us to dive into their brain is their music they are very open with the armys talking about their disappointments, fears, interests e.t.c , but for things they can’t say out loud they use music to communicate. Jin for example as said he likes his public persona to be this happy go lucky person and doesn’t want to show any bad things to the fans except in his songs “ I don’t want to share my sad feelings with my fans because I want to show only good things. But if it’s music the story is different” Jin’s letter for abyss.

You say that you don't think it's the music that attracted so many people to BTS. You're only partially correct. I do think the music hooks a lot of us. BUT I think it is the guys themselves that get us to stay and turn us into a family. My own personal experience is that it wasn't the music that first caught me. I listened to Dynamite and Boy with Luv first and almost didn't give them another chance. I tried just one more song (Dope). The song didn't necessarily win me over, but the dancing did. I could just see all the hard work that went into that choreo and that's when I realized they weren't just an average pop band like I had been on the verge of dismissing them as. So I dug deeper. What's funny is, I didn't always warm up to some of their music at first. But, especially after I've gotten to know more about them as people and I've seen what all they've been through and how they still are these amazingly kind, humble, and loving people, I can listen to just about any of their songs and hear their voices and it's like hearing a beloved family member and, even if it's not my favorite song, I still love it. I honestly don't have songs of theirs that I don't like. There are just songs I like better than others. Genres of music I haven't liked in the past, I like now because they made songs in that genre that have meaning and they did it well. They've made me realize that it isn't the style of music I have a problem with from those genres, it's the lack of depth and meaning.

If you react to Bookish Theories video for Black Swan for example both for the classical version and the regural one. It is very important. For Spring Day for example is a must. Because it references a specific incident that you won't be able to get the real meaning of it. Also the Bangtan Universe is very complicated to comprehend so the explained videos are a must. Based on the song you want to react to let me know and i will give you the proper explained video to react as well

So i listen to a lot of artists from different kinds of music from all over the world. I am 36 and i have heard all kinds of artists over the years. I mean i am also a Eurovision fan. So diversity in music is my thing. And i decided one day to leave my prejudices years ago at 2015 and listen to some kpop as well. After i was watching kdramas for years. As i do watch series also from all over the world. But BTS was the only ones that managed to make me not only a fan but for the first time stan an artist, and changed my notions of idol music. All the others confirmed my prejudices. For me as an older person and for my aunts who are over 60 and 70 the reason we connect to BTS is not their personalities of course to an extent it is that as well. We would not be able to stan people with no ethics. In fact we are tired of them here in Greece and in the West. BTS is also different in this as well. But the main reason BTS are the only idols with such a variety of demographics is their music and mostly the messages in their songs. So their lyrics and use of their personal thoughts and knowledge on things. Also the educational character of their songs. They put the youth into literature and all forms of arts that they don't appreciate otherwise. They talk from the beginning about their personal experiences and topics the society faces and struggles with that resonate with people and help us face the harsh realities of life. For me personally they helped me with their music and their message to face the difficulties in my life as well. Sorry for the long rant. I just wanted to give you a perspective on the reason BTS has so many fans of all ages.

no one follows musicians if you dont like the music. Their characters , personalities and individual selves keep us listening to their music. their lyrics are important because they actually create their music, and are involved in every aspect of its creation. which is not true of many pop artists. also they have a huge variety of music and genres. if a person doesn't find any sound they like then that person is not a musical person or is deaf. im sorry to hear you think we are BTS fans for the guys and not the music. before I knew what they looked like, there was something in the sound that called to me. because of that sound i wanted to know the group as well. i've always been a metal fan, but i liked individual songs I never cared to know about the group itself. this did not happen with BTS. iSuga once said that if you listen to BTS without prejudice , judgement and close mindedness you will love them.

That’s a fairly skewed interpretation of what I said. There’s loads of bands out there that people love their music, but there are very few artists on the scale of BTS, and I was saying, the thing that sets their level of fandom apart from others is that the fans love them as people, not just their music. Same thing with Taylor Swift, and that same thing can be said back through the ages, from Michael Jackson, to the Beatles. The music isn’t enough to justify the sheer scale of the fandom.

There is nothing more refreshing than finding a reaction channel purely by random chance where the creator can go back and re-evaluate their original reaction. Im one of those "weirdo" genX rando 50 plus year olds that fell down the kpop rabbit hole and consumed every bit of information over the years I could find. Ive commented on many videos that react to a BTS or Blackpink video and pass it off as just a fluffy over produced eye candy pop song. Trying to explain the very deep thought out meaning behind every scene and being called an over reaching freak gets a little old. I would love to see you react to a similar video explaining the members of Blackpink as well and their back stories. A GREAT example of how deep their concepts go would be on Jolly channel where "British priest reacts to how you like that." You first get the initial reaction of the priest, then his sister gives a breakdown explanation of the actual meaning of the lyrics and visuals. That song on the surface is a perfect example of one that exists purely for eye candy and a generic catchy throwaway pop song. In reality DuDu DuDu DuDuDu, Kill this Love, and How you like that are a connected trilogy with lyrics worth the deep dive that gives you a completely different opinion on the group IMO. How you like that finishes off that trilogy with every scene having incredible detail and a dual message to those that have unleashed an horrific hate campaign against the group, as well as a story that parallels the goddesses of greek mythology and ending in a scene most missed of the girls exiting Trojan horses and finally positioned in front of a map referencing their world domination despite the hate they have always had to fight against since their debut. I know this sounds like a lot, and maybe I AM the kpop nerd I get accused of being in the comment section of a lot of reaction channels....but I am VERY grateful to find a reaction channel where the creator can at least recognize that SOMETIMES our comments that border on a thesis paper really aren't just us being overzealous fans. :-)

Thank you for your persistence in learning about BTS. Not sure how i feel about your lack of control over the journey; good that you are willing to receive guidance, bad that you can't shape the direction toward your own musical taste? My favorites for the consideration of you and your ARMY guide: What drew me in: Not Today and Boy With Luv My rapline favorite: Outro Tear live (I actually like the Osaka 2019 show more than Wembley) Vocal line: live House of Cards All BTS: Pied Piper live at 2019 Seoul muster

So you reacted to BTS for the first time with Boy with Luv and Black Swan a year ago. Then a couple of months after you watched BTS' Idol followed by Yoongi's Daechwita & his feature in Psy's That That, Namjoon's Come Back To Me, BTS Blue & Grey and Outro Tear. You also watched Taylor Mari's BTS guide. Based on your video titles, it looks like you enjoyed Come Back To Me and Blue & Grey. Perhaps the NPR Tiny Desk live performances of BTS, RM and V might interest you. RM and V performed songs from their solo projects. RM's albums Indigo and Right Place Wrong Person have been critically acclaimed. BTS documentaries - Burn The Stage, Bring The Soul, Break The Silence, BTS Monuments, Suga The Road to Dday and Hope On The Street Vol 1 provide deeper insights into the group. Their last concert in 2022 before they started their enlistment is the free Busan Yet To Come concert. Millions watched online and in person.

I think it would be nice if you could check out albums with lyrics available and review them, it is very entertaining to discover their message, that's what drew most of us in, it just brings curiosity. I like ur energy, what we appreciate the most is honesty 🫶🏽

Kpop is an industry and works VERY differently to the way that American artist development works.... Individuals audition and sign with a company. They then spend anywhere from six months (highly unusual) to 3-4 years (much more common) training in singing, rapping, and dancing, and hoping to be a member of a new group being formed by the company The Big Three kpop companies (JYP, SM, and YG) became the Big Three by being among the first, and eventually the most successful, at fielding new groups in the early years of the Korean popular music scene, and the Korean popular music scene/industry didn't even start until the mid-to-late 1990s!! Those 3 companies eventually got a stranglehold on the kpop industry with their success: 1. they had the most money and could train & debut many multiples of new groups each year - abandoning & disbanding the groups that didn't take off quickly, and focusing their marketing on the groups that were successful, while continuing to maintain trainee camps to train and debut new groups over and over again every year 2. Their money also allowed them to influence the many, many music shows that cropped up on Korean TV, ensuring that their new groups got automatic slots on every show to promote their new groups or new songs from established groups These music shows play a HUGE part in the success of any kpop group, since they're the only real way that new & established groups get airtime to showcase themselves and their songs to the public... 6-8 new and established groups perform each day, and then the live studio audience, and audience at home, vote for a winner. But BTS was the only group that BigHit had. They had all their eggs in one basket. BigHit was a new and small company. They didn't have the money to ensure BTS could get on the music shows. Hence, BTS turned to RU-vid to promote themselves and build a fanbase and anticipation even before they debuted - at the time, this action was practically unprecedented! Though now, even the Big 3 copies this marketing tool with their new groups after seeing the success BTS has generated What BTS has, though, that most kpop groups lack (even the other kpop groups that BigHit formed after BTS' success earned them the money they needed to fund more than one group!) are actual songwriters, rappers, and lyricists within the group, members that were writing and performing music even before becoming a kpop trainee Other kpop groups are mostly fed songs that they had no input in writing. It's why I don't like kpop, I only like BTS. I've realized that BTS is the only group with actual *substance* to their music Even the new groups that BigHit has formed - whom I was looking forward to listening to because I loved BTS' music so much - are in the same, generic, kpop mold of every other group. Being fed songs they didn't write, forgettable songs without depth, that try to capture an audience's attention with nothing more than a vapid, catchy hook and a crazy music video

The system is or can be messy or f'd up but I don't thinks it's really that different to many other systems, we just don't normally see it for singers. Compared to ballerinas, classically trained musicians, footballers, gymnasts, etc, I think they all have their own similar systems where you often start at a young age and spend the majority of your formative years training crazy hours to try and make it big professionally

Hi, my comment disappeared. Basically, I came across you reaction video. Thank you for giving BTS a chance to learn more about them. I too am older and have been ARMY since just after their debut. I love all kinds of music, yet BTS lyrics, music speaks to me. I had stopped while you were talking about the hardship of them receiving an award and then being accused of cheating. There’s so so much discrimination against BTS in particular that happened and still does. Now, they have ARMY to help protect them. Many now say True ARMY since they entered the military and released solo albums and other free music or surprises until all return in 2025. Jin has returned. J-Hope will be returning this month. We say True ARMY since many became fans and like only 1 member and none of the others or pester and argue in the comments. Some are simply excited. Please don’t let any bother you. As ARMY, I try to only write helpful, respectful, positive comments as that is how BTS is and we are like a family. The one you watched here is good! It only covers up to a certain date as do most. Taylor Mari who did the Gide to Bangtan will be doing an updated version when all the members return from the military. In the beginning, it was mostly RM and then Suga. Suga /Agust-D did and still does a lot of the producing, as well as for other musicians. Now, all of them write lyrics and have a hand in producing esp for their solo albums. Someone can add or correct me if I’m missing something. I think it’s important to know since many musicians do not write and produce and do so much other things. There are good Idol bands out there, yet BTS is in a league of their own and don’t mood to 1 genre. Even their solo albums have expanded. Also, if you see the BTs Hardships mentioned in this video, you’d maybe be shocked. I have gone through many traumas and other things, and after a bit, I finally decided to get help. They are the ones that made me much more determined to keep trying. Even today, I had a very hard day, so I tuned into RU-vid and usually try to watch a few BTS reactions or shows and I feel calmer with less anxiety. The one unique thing I love about them is they keep their promises. It may not always be filmed, but if they say their going to do something, they do it and they still write on Weverse on occasion to fans (used to be Vlive) and Jin immediately went on live as soon as he was discharged the very same day. Thank you! Will see what you do next and can’t wait to see the whole thing on Patreon! Borahae! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🇨🇦👏👏

Well, truth to behold, when kpop blew up about 2016 especially here in Asia, I never got behind it, why would I stan a groups just because of looks. I'm aromatic, not really sexually attracted to anything. But among popular kpop groups BTS was always unavoidable to hear & I saw their MV's at the time but i was really indifferent about it, not really interested, I was high school back then about 8 grade. Years later during my transition to college, biggest anxious time, living in a new environment away from parents with new classmates. I was really depressed, I found Taylor's music especially Folklore & Evermore, very great lyricist. I was thinking I would never lower my standards for artists, they should be as good as Taylor in lyrics, then shocking unbeknownst to me BTS, probably greatest plot twist of my life, yes, initially what drew me in was their funny videos popping in my newsfeed, until I got into their story & music which I had already heard years back, things just made so much sense. Those song I didn't pay much attention to, is so different now knowing what it meant. Apparently I was just very dumb before, their music is GENIUS, you need to be really really smart to decipher them, they really impressed me, song I thought was love songs are not, & often times their songs are layered, & could be examined to various point of views, their arrangements & which album they belong to could even impact what the song meant because their albums are interconnected with overarching theme like a huge puzzle piece. Their lyrics from songs nods to other song lyrics just like Taylor. Almost all their songs have meanings which correlates with their lives just like BLUE & GREY which was written by V when he didn't felt happy in anything anymore he became numb. & Outro Tear, which was about their almost breakup as a band in 2018 which was written by Suga. For additional context, they came from humble background right? Though they wanted to get big, they never expected to be THAT big, they were overwhelmed & got scared of their fame (based on songs like Shadow, boy with luv, wildflower, seesaw, black swan). The thing is, they love their fans, they love creating music, they love the team, but they also wanted to quit, they are scared, they were overworked, but none of them had the courage to say it because they know it hurts them because they love what they do. "We walked towards the same dream, but it seems like this place is our last" "Now that dream has finally become a dream, my heart is torn, please burn it so not even regret will be left" "We used to talk about forever but now we break each other endlessly" "You are my beginning & end"

Most small companies hope their groups make it so they take a risk. But big 3 companies have a ready fame foe their groups. They are like Industry plants in the west.
