I depotted several palettes that I liked the shades of- but not together in the same palette and once they were depotted and added to my magnetic palette I have gotten way more use out of them. I created a 15 pan autumn palette and then switched to a winter one and I regret nothing 🎉🎉
No, I really like the visual aspect of having curated palettes. I also appreciate the presentation. I know I have many similar shades, I don’t need to depot anything to know that.
I love having repeat shades. But I love mixing eyeshadows when I apply them. So having them in different palettes inspires me. I love how you depotted yours. I swatch everything and play. Its a great way to see how colors work together.
Yeap, that's the reason why i didn't put them in the separate magnetic pallet, but left in the original packaging, sometimes the original color stories are amazing! But I did that to have a better picture of what I have, and what I might need)
This was so interesting to watch! And I’ve wanted to convert my palettes into magnetic palettes so I can build and rearrange them the way I want to. This might be the motivation to tackle that project!
So happy yt suggested your channel! I would love to depot all of my palettes but unfortunately I own around 150 (& 1200 singles!) & this was after doing a massive declutter of 100 palettes. I may actually do what you did & keep the original packaging so I don't have to worry about storage! Thank you for this content!
wow, you were brutal to declutter 100. Before depotting them, I sorted my pallets in color, and took picture of each category, so any time I wanted to recreate a look, I opened those photos. It helped me to keep track of what I have
I had so many palettes (still do 🫠) that were sitting unused & neglected, so I decided to try & give them homes. Some are still here sitting sadly in boxes so I'm definitely going to use your method to depot them!
I need to do the same but I would need the magnetic pallets to put them all in.. I dont think I have many pinks or purples.. I have way to many warm golds, dark bronze and rusty oranges.. if they only have one or 2 browns in a pallet then I have no idea h many neutral browns I have and it might make me think I need to buy an expensive nude palette.. I think I have like 13 pallets and I gave 6 of them away.. I need to use what I have and it would inspire me to use these colors more if I see them laying out in a different way!!!
That's the reason I did it.It was so surprising to see that I actually have so many greens and purples!I didn't want to get magnetic palette, instead I glued weak magnet square to the cardboard original packaging and the designated eyeshadow. This experiment also showed me that I am totally ok without Natasha Denona's Nude palette!
It’s nice to depot the larger ones or if I don’t like the shape of packaging plus you can see how many shades are pretty similar. I’m just not that good at removing the matte ones they always break.
I think a lot of those rejecting this idea are hooked on consumerism. I depotted all of my eyeshadow palettes months ago and ended up with 100 or so of repeats or colors I just didn't like. I was shocked by how many multiples of the same colors I had, and there's always one that's better quality than the other, so why keep it. I feel so much better buying single shadows or petite palettes.
@@cmone5200 thanks for sharing that, recently I've also been leaning towards buying just some singles, and after depotting them I have a clearer picture of what I actually need!
You asked for suggestions on using red. First, mix with other colors! I don't mean necessarily that you that you mix them like paint to make a new color, although you can do that. But if you put red next to another color on the eye, the whole thing visually ends up like a mix of the two. For example, yesterday I wore a red and yellow eye look that I think most people might describe as a warm orange sunset. I didn't put any orange on my eye, but where the yellow and red blended made a beautiful gradient. Ditto for red and blue, red and brown, and red and pink. Another tip I have for wearing red is to go bold. If you're scared of the red so you only put down a light wash, that's when it can look like a rash rather than eyeshadow. Another tip I have is to line with black or some other dark, bold color like purple or blue. If you wear red without lining your eyes, it can make you look sick. But if you line your upper lashes, the black is closest to your eyeball and it pulls everything together. Another tip is to put a different color than red on your lower lashes, like maybe brown or gray. Again, this will keep you from looking sick, as the lower lashline often gets red naturally when you have a cold.
Thank you SO MUCH!I'll definitely try it out.I've already wore red+black eyeliner, which turned out to be better than I expected.I'm itching to try the combos, you are suggesting!
O once depotted two palettes by the same creator to make one that I wanted more use out of… it turned out it was such “blasphemy” I never used any of the colours again 😭 I think I’m inspired by the mood a palette creates and I very rarely know what colour I’m going for unless I’m reproducing a makeup I’ve seen online… so I’m quite happy to alternate with my several (not 17) palettes and decluttering them from time to time to make room for a new one. 😊 But thanks for the entertaining video 😊
it is so hard for me to declutter tthe palette.Quite often i do set my mind to get rid of some, but then i open them and that one shade is looking at me and i know that I'll come up with excuse to still have it.I tried to do that to see what are those shades!
I like layering lip products so I could start with a neutral lip liner and add a bit of lipstick or gloss and then tap on the eyeshadow with a finger to get the color or finish that I want.
I dont wanna depot my paletes but ill def try taking a photo of all the colors to compare. I have 11 paletes and I was about to get a 12th simply for one color (and because the pacage was gorgeus haha) but ill try looking for it in my own stuff and if I dont have it I can always get it as a single eyeshadow
I have mostly loose eye shadow pans that have been heavily curated. I keep them in a MAC 16 pan palette. I do have a regular palette too because I was curious about the quality difference of high end. I covered half of the shadows in that palette with tape to get them out of my life. Altogether I use 20 eye shadows that work perfectly for me.
Thank you!It actually is!i didn't do the actual depoting in one go, it took me several days.Usually I have something running on my background, like audiobook,or podcast. It is very calming process for me.
This was the most satisfying video to watch! Part of me thinks I should do this on my channel! I’ve just found your videos and subscribed and I cannot wait to see more from you ❤❤
Me too, therefore i decided not to put them in separate magnetic pallet but leave in the original packaging, though there is a huge chance that some of them are actually at the wrong place!
I like that you did this to see what colors you already have. I deported 80% of my eyeshadow palettes. I put them sorted by colors in magnetic palettes. Have a wonderful day.
Thank you, it is actually so interesting to see!I also consider sorting them by color.Do you find it helping while ddoing makeup or constricting?I wish you a great day as well!
I had this six 20-35 colors palettes that lit. Never used, i decided to depot all the pans and found out there where about 30 repeated shades and 16-17 colors I hate. I placed the shadows I actually like on magnetic palettes and gave away the repeated/hated ones. Maybe because I paint I find easier to inspire me if I see my colors organized by hue instead of having them all mixed together like in brand new palettes. I also have lots of greens btw
It is so eye-opening that whenever you put them out of packaging you can see what you actually have!I can spend hours rearranging them and playing with colors!how do you use yours?do you know beforehand which colors to wear or when you open your palettes ,which I bet look gorgeous being organized by hue , and go with the flow?
@@the-Artup Actually I just decide a “main color theme” beforehand, it could be like a monochromatic look, or the color I will put on a cut crease, or a pop of color over a neutral shade, then I just let my creativity pick for me what I’m going to use.. That’s why I think I approach to makeup the same way I do with watercolour and gouache, like I know what I want it to be the focus and then just work my way around that idea
@@lianhua09 sounds so cool!if I go for a colorful makeup look,I also pick the main color, do a big swatch on my hand and then pick the colors which may compliment it.It might take some time!!!!!
@@MsLouisVee Thanks for dropping a comment! I'm a bit confused about what you mean by "crooked and wonky." Mind giving me a bit more info or pointing out what you're referring to?
I loved this video. I’m going to be going through my palettes before the end of the year and doing this same process. The video isn’t done yet but I thought I’d ask you this question. When you’re looking at the colors you have - where is your head at what you think about the different finishes and textures?
Oh, textures and finishes - it's completely different story! So far I've set apart just toppers since they are more universal. With mattes, I focused on color and functionality, but with "non mattes" there are so many things to take into consideration!I've decided to take it slowly and educate myself on what I have and what I can use.
I am flabbergasted that the colors came out so easily! I tried to depot a couple different eyeshadows a few weekends ago and I literally had to destroy the packaging to even get them out. It was so frustrating and demoralizing. I wonder how people do it so easily!?
@@laurasaucier7482 Some use heat to loosen tbe glue,I've never tried it since it also can destroy packaging. In short,I used a piece of plastic that I pushed between pan and packaging, leaned it over the pan, added a little bit of rubbing alchohol in the gap. When the glue got softer,I put the thred under the pan and started pulling the ends.Slowly the thread cut the glue and the pan pops.
I need to do this, just need to get more magnets from Amazon....i have colored pencil tins i can use for new palettes, it will even give me a mixing tray to use wet colors and blends, and to add mica powder to mattes😊❤
@@angellove2911 brilliant idea!I did a similar thing to my Clionadh eyeshadows.I put cheap Dollar tree / Dollorama magnets to the bottom, add a little bit of blitz to the lid,and got my custom magnetic palette for less than 5 dollars +extra magnets!
Purple is my favorite color but I almost always struggle with purples wearing that color in daytime go to work. I have found myself gravitating to coppers.
That's a cool method for remembering what you have. I like to lay out all my makeup once a year, by color family, to see what I have and don't, what I feel I'm lacking (rarely anything, LOL), and then to clean and wipe down every item and declutter a little bit. Only it used to take a couple of hours, now it's about 4+.
Hi thanks, I am using cleaning tool from Dollorama dental cleansing kit.All of the eyeshadows in this video were predepotted,so it was easier to pull them out🥰
How did you manage to depart the eyeshadows from the ABH pallets every time I try to do that they end up breaking on me because the glue is stiff. I would appreciate your tips and recommendations.
Thank you, i tried red, it didn't work at first, my eyes looked sick, but then when i added very thin black liner and black eyepencil between upper lash line, it WORKED. Thanks for reminding me about that!
If I depotted my palettes, I would be heartbroken.💔 My singles are mostly special shades, like multi-chromes. I just love a palette! I find the way they are arranged inspiring! I could never! Yes, I’m dramatic.😅 I’m happy you enjoy it, though, and I enjoyed your video. 💚
@@CaenaGrey Thank you for sharing your thoughts! That's why I love indie and want to dive more into them-their color stories are amazing and they give great flexibility!
I've already done one :ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vagSxrpWj04.html I depotted all the eyeshadows using the method from this video. It works great for pallets in carton packaging. For the ones in plastic, it works well. I had problems only with firmly pressed eyeshadows! If you have any questions, let me know!
Omg I was cracking up during your intro, instantly subscribed haha!! Love finding little channels like yours and mine! Your makeup looks amazing and you’re adorable btw! This was so fun to watch ❤ I have always wanted to do this but I know it’s gonna take forever since some of my older palettes are all glued in 😂 thank you for sharing your beautiful shadows with us!!! It was so satisfying seeing them grouped by color too! I’m about to binge your channel now ❤❤❤
thanks, it took me several days to predepot them! It's so eyeopening what we actually have in our collections! Thanks for writing this comment, it made my day!
this is what you need(materialwise) and how i did it with BH : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vagSxrpWj04.html , with ABH I did exactly the same thing! If you still have some questions, let me know
