This knife is a game-changer. I just got the same one, and it's my first 77 too. Agree about the size, it hits the sweet spot for me. The blade etch - who cares? Mine's already half worn off and it won't be missed when it's all gone. Sheer perfection, even among other GECs, it cannot get better than this.
Hey JB thanks so much buddy I appreciate your comment really I do!!!!! Thanks JB hope your ok I saw the video on the shipping out of the states yeah it’s ashame and I know you feel bad of all people!!!! Is it possible to send gift cards? Because I have to do one soon I was going to send a gift card?! Anyway thanks bud stay well out there and cool all week here it’s going to be over 100 all week
WOW... she is a beauty Jersey! 😍 It's great to see these traditional 🇺🇸 marvels, still exceptionaly #madeintheusa 🇺🇸 - when I go to the States again, I would love to get a few, for sure 🙏 Thanks for sharing, Atb Gus 👍
Hey Donavan I’m chasing the dream like most of us!!!! Do you know what I sacrifice to buy these knives?? It’s not easy my friend it’s my passion I want the best collection of traditionals my money will buy!!!!! Thanks so much and you have one of the best collections I’ve ever seen…… you know you been in the game long enough!!!!! Thanks buddy
I like the bolster on that Barlow! Now that is the way to do it Really great looker. I'd like to see the sawcut area a tad lighter but that is the way it is normally done. It's like the blade burned the bone! I'm cool with the blade etch. Yep, damn near perfection!
Hey Larry thank you so much……. I need for people to know what I sacrifice to get these knives!!!! I give up so much to be in this hobby and get these GEC knives!!!! It’s not easy at all and when you score one it makes it that much better!!! I have been chasing these many years it don’t come easy but it’s my passion!!!!! Thanks so much you keep me continuing on and make it all worth it stay well Larry
On the temperature, I feel for ya. Here in south central IN, the heat index is over a hundred degrees. As in, it's been that way over the past four days. As to the beautiful knife, yes, the GEC #77 Yankee Barlow is a smaller knife. I'd still EDC it, though; good knife. Me? My grail GEC is a #43 Oregon Trapper, and yes, the size of it--replete with my rather long fingers--is a big part of that. Really anything Northfield-branded, but I'd take a Tidioute, of course. I've had the lousiest luck on trying to get one: I've missed three drops AND had two sell when I was in-between paychecks.
Happy to see you got a knife on your collection list. I think it makes collecting more interesting looking for a special knife model to complete any collection. I am one that likes small knives as much as large knives of different designs. I enjoy other opinions on what their favorite knives are too. Thank you for sharing one of your favorites with others.
Gizmo thanks so much buddy I really appreciate your support thanks buddy I have to slow down the wife is saying stop I know knew enough is enough thanks again stay well talk soon
Love the video as always. I'm with you. I like the size of my 77 better than my TC15! Someone told me that the TC 15s have steel bolsters too & that's why they prefer them to the 77s. I don't know if that's true or not. Well, best wishes & I hope your puppy's ear is getting better.
Thrifty buddy man I have no idea what’s been going on but man it seems like evertime you do a live I miss you or I’m out doing something I’m going to try to join your next live god willing it’s just this puppy and working with the neabor before I was just sitting here so if see them but anyway I’ll see you soon I have something to tell you about old timer knives I reached out to them rhere sending me a bunch of stuff I’ll talk soon
Mark you can do it how bad do you want it figure out what you want in your collection first!!!! Seriously think about what you want then act on it!!!! You can do anything you put your mind too!!!!! Just saying I’m not a Rich guy I just sacrifice a lot to be in this hobby I give up a lot!!!!! Thanks buddy
@@jerseyknifeguy6382 I absolutely know what you're talking about Pete. I am grateful for the pieces that I have acquired, but I do know that my taste in knives is not what it was a few years ago. It's never ending and a great ride.
What do you give up, Pete. You have a hugh house on 4 developed acres very close to the ocean in expensive New Jersey, His and her Harleys, nice cars, a massive knife collection. You seem to be able to buy whatever you want and all without a visible means of support, except for an occasional part time job. So don't play the the regular working stiff role because it won't work. You seem to contradict yourself constantly about your money matters. Yeah its none of my business but all your contradictory statements have me wondering. How do you live like a rich guy while saying your not. I apologize if a raised a sensitive topic but inquiring minds need to know.
Awesome knife Pete! I will get a GEC one day. The weather here is hot. It’s been 108 and is supposed to be cooler, only 105 now! It’s hard on the dogs. So are you going to sell your collection to go after GEC knives?
How is the Paint business in Jersey are you picking up brother, I pray you are. I was blessed with so much work the last two years this year’s a little tough but then again look at the world around you
No no good I had my own business for years and the covid came and nobody would let you in there houses I’m suffering thank god for the wife and my neabor for carrying me
Jolly thanks so much buddy I’ve been doing this so long and at the end of the day I want a great collection of traditional knives!!!!! Jolly thanks again for your comments really!!!!
#14 is a good knife if you live in a country with stupid knife laws, thats basicaly what you can carry. Also with gec you often buy what you can get and not what you really want. I would love to have #77 but ...
Very nice piece there Pete. I think that spear point looks fine. We are getting up to 108 actual temperature today. Next ten days are over 100 every day, average around 105. Crazy Daisy 🤪
Be careful out there William I can’t even go out with the puppy every hour I can’t even breathe I come in sweating like a pig it’s real bad here…… all week they are saying hunker down be safe William I think about you often!!!!!!
GEC is the way to go in collecting traditional knives. I stopped buying the cheap Chinese brands like Rough Rider I only own 4 of them and 2 Queen knives. I would rather buy one GEC over several inexpensive Rough riders of no value but cheap shelf queens to look at. You should buy 1 or more versions of the new GEC #65 Ben Hogan slip joints they are really nice. GEC are great for collecting and use but they are an investment that hold a resale value because of their quality and high demand by knife collectors that is what sets them apart. They are also made in the USA which I really like.
I hear ya buddy!!!! I can’t tell a lie I still sneak a rough Ryder in the mix once in awhile I have a huge collection of them I can’t stop buying them I have slowed down a lot with them thanks brother
Oh my the fourmans and if your lucky eBay but sometimes the prices are so far out of reach you have to be careful play the game throw a price out there and see if they bite!!!!! It’s about playing the game that’s what makes it so much fun when you score one!!!!! There not easy or everyone would be chasing them most people don’t want to be bothered stay well
Yes Brandon it’s just my passion I’ve been chasing these for a long time that’s where the big money is traditionals and moderns are very different things!!!!! Thanks buddy stay well out there
zen!!!!! Hey man thanks buddy I appreciate you…… there are only a very few of us that get what I threw up most of the other guys can care less about my old man traditional knives!!!!! But I wouldn’t have choose anything different where are you from again???
@@jerseyknifeguy6382 Atlanta, bred and buttered Remember when you could get GECs for retail without getting on a list? Bill Howard ain't right in the head but the scalpers love him.
@@Zen_Ali_123 well said brother tell me what do you like the most to collect what gets you going? I don’t know much about you……. Probably because why would you you can sit back and laugh at me all the time lol 😂
That knife is beautiful, buddy! I’m glad you got to add that one to the collection. Looking forward to seeing your full video on it. Everything about this one just looks great!
