Hey everyone,
I have finally added a new biome to the game. The Outback Canyons. Here rivers have carved deep ravines into the surrounding plateaus which are home to all kinds of weird & wonderful creatures. Watch out for those cheeky emus though ;)
Fun fact: This biome is based on a real place that I visited called Kings Canyon located in the Northern Territory, Australia. Very cool place.
Thank you all for your support :)

You've given the emu knees where it should have ankles! Bird knees are held really high up, close against the body and hidden under all the feathers. You wouldn't need to change the rig at all, just the animations to have the legs bend the other way. The eucalypts look really good.

This looks so amazing! I cant wait to check it out when I get the time. One thing I might suggest is doing overlaying heat map type layers to create more realistic biomes, like what is done in a game called Vintage Story, as opposed to the cookie cutter type biomes seen in Minecraft. On my way to Steam to wishlist.

fire biome i guess average Australia spiders, but coming from an earlier video, the crafting system could be where instead of getting a set cut of an item, you cut the item yourself (like the tree from the earlier video), and you need at least a certain cut. (For example, you cut the tree and need 20x10x10 voxels or something to craft it. For nerfing purposes, you can only carry so many voxels at a time in a slot.

Absolutely stunning, fantastic work! BTW now that your game's listed on Steam, it should show up in the dropdown list of games on RU-vid under the Details/Category section, so you can set that and it won't autofill it with Minecraft. Anyway, really cool progress. Really cool emu!

Looks great, but...If there's gonna be a new minecraft, i'm not sure if having voxels that small would be practical for building stuff or terraform imo, rather get the current minecraft's block size and make it half that size then adding lots of building blocks(not as in current minecraft with just few vanilla blocks and no way to rotate blocks, like for example stairs). And we are all using stairs to build roofs, but they are called stairs for a reason(the lack of blocks makes us use stairs as roofs so..)It's pretty obvious why people would get bored of playing minecraft after a period of time.

That looks very pretty. I have noticed something while watching this video. The animals blend in with the landscape. Generally speaking that is a good thing. After all animals don't want to be seen. But I speak of a different type of blending in. I speak of texture. Usually the texture of dirt, plants and animals is quite different. So on close up they are very easily distinguisheable. That's why the animals have pattern to break up the form to blend more in on the makro level. But in your case the texture of dirt, plants and animals is all the same. It's all voxels that only differ in distance, color and shading. And that leads to a type of blend in that is not normal in nature. I just wanted to point it out. I think if you find a way to improve that it would improve the liveliness of this world.

Hi, Tooley! I want to suggest some additions regarding atmosphere. The reasons why so many people love games is usually far from technical part, it's more about the overall atmosphere: fitting music, ambience, small details that are there just to add to the experience. You have most of them already, though so far i still feel a bit of that "regidness", it's like if the game is a mannequin compared to an actual human - it still lacks dynamics, liveliness sometimes. And, i think, it's not really about the movements of grass or trees but rather the lack of details such as fireflies or other insects(that will probably take only a few pixels), small animals and a variety of them, as well as more random particles of leaves, dust etc. The small animals don't always have to drop useful items such as meat or furr or whatever upon killing them, they may be just to be there, just to convey the feeling of presence in a different world that lives it's own story(something videogames actually are, heh😊). I didn't play the game so i dont know if it has a storyline or some lore behind it, but if it's more like Minecraft than Terraria then deep atmosphere and the right ways of conveying it may be the very few key elements to make this game very revisitable. Survival games are often about spending plenty of hours just to wrap your head around of and land your hands on a single part of it like, for example, building or looting. It all will likely to become boring after some time so this is why i say this word again - atmosphere! Sometimes it's just cool to boot up a game simply to enjoy its digital realm rather than actually playing it. Though some of the things i mentioned above may be already added, i still think it wouldn't be unreasonable to bring up the importance of atmosphere and the sad fact that the majority of gamedevs nowadays don't pay as much attention to it as they do to technical part or graphics, which are part of atmosphere but the most primitive one. Games that lack atmosphere are not bad but they dont make you come back to them as often as games with dynamic, "alive" worlds do. That said, the beauty is in simple things and simple things are conveniently easier to add!😊 The building and looting systems of Lay of the Land seem very satisfying, to say the least and i hope one day it will be seen by millions! (Actually the first game to give me very similar feelings Ace of Spades would give, i miss the times....)
