my controversial lego game take is that I miss them making non-TT Lego games like Racers, Alpha Team, and Rock Raiders. Like, I'm just kinda done with Lego 3D platformer-y games for a while, I'm content with all the ones we've got now lol, go back to making a wider variety of games pls

I love how Lego games which have been a huge part of my childhood have an amazing community like this that I never knew about till recently

My "hot" take: The reused movie lines in Lego Marvel Avengers almost completely ruins the game for me. It feels so forced compared to the game itself which is pretty good.

LEGO Creator has a better building system than LEGO Worlds. Not only does it have bricks with unique functions, such as the antenna that can make any build a playable character, but it also has hinge bricks, which allow for building in more ways than simply vertically.

I don't usually comment, but I have a few hot takes, so I'll oblige. The Complete Saga is the worst game to 100%, a crud ton of levels, the bounty hunter missions, and all the stuff you need to buy is already a lot, but then you have stuff like super story and the blue challenge kits, it's so boring and just feels like something the devs put in to artificially extend the games length. Lego Marvel 1, Lego City Undercover and DC Super Villains are the best out of the games after the OG trilogy. Lego Indy 2 is one of my favorites. And finally, Lego Pirates is the best out of the pre-voice acting era that isn't from the OG trilogy.

I imagine IG 88 is the GOAT of this run

Completely agree with the Indy 2 vehicle missions. They're so fun I didn't grow up with Indy 2 but I grew up with HP1-4, which had the same vehicle physics in bonus levels. Me and my dad would enter the first bonus level and just hit each other in all the different vehicles, laughing at the physics, seeing how far you could hit the motorcycle, etc... Easily some of my most cherished lego games memories

You could 100% randomize the rooms if you put them in separate pools. There would be 2 sections to complete. Random character levels and random ship levels.

After just doing lego harry potter 100% Harry Potter 1-4 is far superior to 5-7, less because 1-4 is better, and more 5-7 is worse. 5-7 has issues, such as the placement of certain red bricks, not where they are but which ones are where, by deathly hallows part 1 you already have a x8 multiplier with just the base characters, and then minor bricks are locked by dark magic, which, due to how spells are locked in 5-7, is unobtainable until the end of the game, even if you have a dark wizard. All characters learn spells (minus reducto) at the same time as the main trio, meaning any adult character you have doesn't know augmenti until you take the class, etc. 1-4 didn't have this, but made it feel fair as it was hard to unlock characters who had such spells until closer to the end of the game. 5-7 just has issues, it feels like it was never balanced properly so everything got nerfed, and also the removal of a ton of rooms from Hogwarts made it just feel empty, 1-4 had a bunch of "secret rooms" but 5-7 has two, the divination class room and tower.

It may just be nostalgia talking, but The Complete Saga is most definitely the best lego game to exist. I have played Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Bat man, and harry potter.

Out of the Lego Star Wars subject, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is my favorite Lego game. Mostly for nostalgic reasons. My second favorite is Lego Star Wars 3. And third is Lego Batman 2. And I think all of those are for nostalgic reasons.

hot take: the lego mobile games were actually pretty good especially the complete saga with being a full port of the console edition lego batman 2 and 3 did a pretty good job of scaling it down so it fits on devices that can run minecraft at 2fps

Hot take: Sterling gave the only honest review of Breath of the Wild. Personally though I would've given BotW a 5/10 with Zelda's fine rear making up for 4 of those points.

I really wanted to 100% the Skywalker Saga but after finishing the story and replaying the first movie i encountered a bug where you can't exit any level, the button just didn't work, so i restarted the game which fixed the bug but gave me another one that made it impossible to skip cutscenes except the opening. Didn't bother playing more after that

Here's my Lego game hot takes: first of all, I thought Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens was pretty solid. Next, Lego Marvel Avengers is my favorite Lego Marvel game simply due to the fact that it's the only one with Scarlet Witch. I'm a big Scarlet Witch fan, so it's good in my book.

Impressive stuff! How did you get 100% without playing through super stories though. I'm currently trying to get 100% the normal way, and what's left are only those super stories. Did them for Ep1 and Ep2 and it got me from 96% to 98%.

Hot take: giant rosters bloat the games and make characters beyond the main cast difficult to stand out, especially when half the characters only become available in the postgame.

hot take: lego indy 2 would have a much better reputation if it was limited to just kingdom of the crystal skull. the puzzle box designs for levels and the crystal skull hub worlds are genuinely fun to engage with and if any film can get away with all the odd boss fights it's that one.

I’ll hit you with a counter-hot take. HP5-7 is so much worse than 1-4. 1-4 had issues, but 5-7 has worse hub worlds, a worse UI, longer load times, more bad levels, less fun spells, and a worse character roster. The mechanics of the first game were just much more fun overall, and there are almost no parts that 5-7 does better.

I would put Lego Avengers at my number one Lego game. Other than a few of the levels, I loved the whole thing.
