Ahh yes... at 2:32 lives the pedestrian bridge at Second Avenue. I grew up just south of it, back when AB Dick, Atlas Van Lines, and Patterson Dental were the only buildings north of 79th. We used to ride our bikes on the trails in the fields, and then, when we were feeling REALLY brave (i.e. stupid as shit) we would cross the bridge on the OUTSIDE of the protective fence, with our feet on the girders. You'd be suprised how many drivers never noticed we were potential windshield decorations!
thanks for putting this up. What's interesting is that 494 used to end by MN5 and then you had to take that up to MN 100? (Mendota Hts Blvd) and then it would turn back into 494. There used to be a traffic light at M. Hts. Blvd and 52. I think they connected the 494 together in the '80s. I have a 1980 Rand McNally that shows the 494 not quite completed. I'm from Cleveland, have Minnesota friends, ja? :) and I love this vid.
The actual driving time within this video is 3.58 mins (out of the total 4 mins and 18 seconds total video duration), during which you drove 33 miles. This means that your apparent speed in this video is an incredible 553 MPH! That's why you feel a little sick while watching it. Can you imagine driving a metro freeway in traffic at 553 MPH? Keep up the good work.
Just NOW, they’re getting ready to start reconfiguring everything between MOA & at least I-35W?! Why the long wait?! It’s among the worst designed stretches of freeway bypass ever left uncorrected… at least outside of the Northeast…
One of the worst highways you can take, always accidents and some of the dumbest drivers out there. A girl I worked with her son and her mom got killed on this highway..wrong way driver.
