Let me tell you about the mythology behind his np. he is one of the the oldest god (or probably even the oldest) of aztec/ mayan/ olmec civilization. From aztec civilization, we have stories of five sun which tell us that world is already destroyed by gods by four time already and this is the fifth sun, we are seeing. the first sun is Black tezcatlipoca i.e why his np name is first sun xibalba. It was four gods who eventually created all the other gods and the world we know today, but before they could create they had to destroy, for every time they attempted to create something, it would fall into the water beneath them and be eaten by Cipactli, the giant earth crocodile, who swam through the water with mouths at every one of her joints. From the four Tezcatlipocas descended the first people who were giants. They created the other gods, the most important of whom were the water gods: Tlaloc, the god of rain and fertility and Chalchiuhtlicue, the goddess of lakes, rivers and oceans, also the goddess of beauty. To give light, they needed a god to become the sun and the Black Tezcatlipoca was chosen, but either because he had lost a leg or because he was god of the night, he only managed to become half a sun. The world continued on in this way for some time, but a sibling rivalry grew between Quetzalcoatl and his brother the mighty sun, who Quetzalcoatl knocked from the sky with a stone club. With no sun, the world was totally black and in his anger, Tezcatlipoca commanded his jaguars to eat all the people. That's what we see in his np. I really love how they made the character of tezcatlipoca (For information, i am not talking about his character design but his actual characterization. Although, i really like his second ascension, it show his beastial and cunning nature very well with his 'ugly' face), he is very fun to watch and read in lostbelt 7 and also in chaldea as well. he is one of the supreme god (along with other tezcatlipoca) just like zues is supreme god of greek mythology. Tezcatlipoca is the god of judgement because of this myth along with second sun's myth as well. he is associated with a wide range of concepts, including the night sky, the night winds, hurricanes, the north, the earth, obsidian, hostility, discord, rulership, divination, temptation, jaguars, sorcery, beauty, war, and conflict. His name in the Nahuatl language is often translated as "Smoking Mirror" and alludes to his connection to obsidian, the material from which mirrors were made in Mesoamerica and which were used for shamanic rituals and prophecy.That obsidian mirror which act like sun in np is the same mirror they made.
@@anaje2 he is considered as the God of Sorcery for a reason. Maybe that's why his weapon in his 3rd ascension is like a magic wand from classical fairytale.
Tez art might be lets say "different" but man he looks sick ingame. Also, even tho am not a huge fan of the artstyle I am alway happy to see fate bring new artists and different artist to the game, it makes characters feel so unique
I got absolutely destroyed by the sudden revive due to unfortunate circumstance, so I'm not really too fond of the mechanic. Too bad Oberon is my favourite support servant, eh?
