The one time I've ever encountered a hacker in MK8D traumatized me. It was an Isabelle player, I have never been more terrified in my life cause all she would do is just throw millions of red shells, so many red shells, they were everywhere! they were item cramming in front of her kart too cause that's how much it was spammed, the funniest part was she intentionally didn't front run so she can spam red shells at everyone, it was a warzone of red and she had no mercy

I have yet to run into a hacker, but even then the hackers on this game aren’t as bad as the other ones. They didn’t fully sabotage peoples races, seems like it was still a good time all around.

The fact one of the hackers named themselves "HELP" is hilarious, also ohhh I see a player with the Brunei flag! (Shame their name wasn't "Nintendo, your servers are a joke" like the thumbnail implied) Couldn't find the Albanian player though. I'm curious by the way, since the player screen wasn't always shown, did the game recognize the flag but not the country name and instead of Brunei it said "?????" in its place?

my guess is that the hackers are obstructing eachother, and possible themselves even, though it would only affect them in menus, as you never see your own name in game. It would take actual code for them to dodge affecting eachother, which most of these types of people don't know how to do

So how does the ban system work on this game? Like is it similar to where if you had symbols in your name in MKWii it’s allowed, but would what these guys are doing be considered bad? Like if you had a normal sized color name would you be banned for that? Also how do they even do this in the first place?

The few hackers that ive encountered used a speed hack so they could drive like 10x faster than everyone else so you'd see them zip past you in a second then fall off the edge then zip by again

I have to wonder if Nintendo is having trouble banning these guys because they keep changing thier names

I managed to win a race with a few of these guys in a lobby and I have to question how this is only occurring right after the final update for the game was released. Probably gonna just stick with private lobbies for a while until this gets fixed.

Certain tournament lobbies have hackers, I just played in Blue Shells Only to get a breath of fresh air from regular races and I queued with the top guy and no one else. I didn't suspect much on the first race and thought this was regular shenanigans for the tourney. However, the lobby was full of CPUs for whatever reason. On the second race however, I found out why the lobby was full of CPUs. I caught the guy blatantly item hacking at the very start on the first turn of Madrid Drive because there was no row of item boxes before he started chucking the shells. I don't think I'll play there again. I hope that guy that joined just before I left didn't smash his Switch.
