Hello! This is a highlight reel of [what I think are] the best moments from my nearly 4-hour-long livestreamed review of 8 Mancke headjoints. This video is made mostly for entertainment value because I've been watching way too many fun, edited Twitch highlight videos, and I'm in that mood. ;D If you want my full thoughts on these headjoints, the full livestreamed review is linked in the info box!
You should have -- I knew you'd buy it the minute you played the Hobbit theme and started ornamenting it the whole way through. When you feel comfortable enough to play something you love and jeuje it up, it's yours. And everything else you played on it, you played with so much sensitivity and emotion, I could tell you loved that headjoint. I'm so glad you bought it. :-)
I got the same reaction the first time I changed from a low grade student flute to a more upgraded version, my whole word changed, the sound, sight. It felt like a warm hug. I can’t imagine getting that feeling at a pro level.
I've watched so many of your review videos and it's so readily apparent that you've found "the one" ...."the one headjoint to rule them all, one headjoint to sound them, one headjoint to play them all, and in the concert bind them"
It's a blessing to see you so excited, Jo! And so inspiring too! Thank you for the highlights! In fact, I watched the live stream at the time, but your cuts gave the whole thing a new color! Hugs from Brazil!
Watched a few of your vids. ❤ when you found a few moments of pure bliss with that new head joint. And so glad you bought it. I also was not really aware that you could swap out parts of flutes and do a mix/match thing to help create the ultimate flute for oneself and also add things like thumbports (I too have tiny pinky and mini thumb and super small almost kid sized hands). I have yet to officially start playing but its been a dream, and dang it, its time. I haven’t played a flute since 1993 when my friend taught me the basics after she moved to sax. I really loved it then. I regret not following thru. So now its time to fix that.
I'm guessing it was somewhere around 08:06 that you made that decision. Your expression there said it all :) literally made me cry! I'm so happy you got it - it's a perfect match for you
@@aprilz6540 Yesss, so much fun!! And it started raining towards the end at my house, it really fit the mood and I just love rain. I was getting that mom feeling "My child is growing" feeling, but not like child, like "My idol is growing ;~;"
Help! With so many flutes available please narrow the field. I am looking for intermediate to low end advanced flutes which make what Trevor Wye describes as a “yellow tone” easier to produce. Realizing that it is mostly up to the player, but at least knowing where to start looking would be most helpful. Thanks!
Remember when you said your dream backup would be the Miyazawa PCM? The Silver/Copper alloy? It's discontinued, which you know. I got one of those. 🙂It's also in A=442! I lucked out... a lot.
Do you think you can help me get started on making a sound on the flute? I am a blind person, and I was wondering if you could possibly help me get started
Its hard to describe but try changing your lip shape (sort of pursed) and blow downward rather than across. Also play with where your bottom lip is on the mouthpiece to experiment with where the best sound is.
JustAnotherFlutist I have watched and enjoyed many of your videos. When I heard you play that Mancke, it was the best you have sounded. Enjoy! You only live once. After my parents passed recently, I bought several “dream” flutes (and maybe I’m not done!!). I don’t regret it for a minute. They give me the greatest pleasure. So enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!! 🥰
6:44 tfw you can feel the dollars departing your bank account because the headjoint CANNOT be the one that got away. Congrats on the new headjoint and partner in crime!
Man I've never thought of calling instruments "the one that got away"but dang it immediately reminded me of an amazing guitar I loved in a store in Nashville. I dont even remember the brand it was something I'd never heard of. But yeah. I get that feeling.
