I Accidentally Made the BEST BASE Defense 

The moment you realize you are actually good in all this R(A)T mess xD D (A added with reforged), I call it RAT. rather ratty.

you can rebuild the altar, usually you will know ahead of time when you're outnumbered, the heros don't die quickly if you pay attention (and have stuff like invul pot), i usually have 1 worker ready midgame at my allies base when I see they are rushing me at the edge-pos. The altar is great in the beginning as part of a wall. shop another thing, it can be really good far out to help creep and manage offensive play faster particularly on some of the giant 4s maps... if the game drags into a ally-never-help and nev.-map-control-on-your-side you can (re) build it in the back of your base

this game was significantly better on your part and you played on multiple dimensions. its hard to recall moments in which you defend your teammate's expansion under any condition. the rate in which you do that is really really low. a more elastic game than i anticipated.
