My son actually told me he was overwhelmed with the amount of toys we have - he’s 5. We are minimalists and never had that many toys because we are cautious about what we are letting in but his little sister (3.5) still has some toddler toys and wants to keep everything. That was the point I decided to declutter without the kids. It really helps them. It’s easier for my son now to just take something and decide what he wants to do. And my daughter doesn’t mind as long as I don’t get rid of her favorites. Remember: If you feel overwhelmed your son will, too. You’re doing fine! Just found this video and it’s very relatable 😊

Thank you so so much!! I keep reminding myself of this, it’s so hard, he basically doesn’t play with much and I think I probably could get rid of a ton but he has an amazing memory and randomly asks for things I’ve gotten rid of 🙈🤣 I think at 3.5 they’re just too young to understand fully aren’t they, he asked to watch this video today and I said ah no it’s just mummy talking it’s boring 🙈🤣 it’s really good that your son has been able to tell you that. Thank you so much for sharing with me and for watching 🥰

@@Livingthefreelife My daughter sometimes asks, but usually I can explain it to her. But I really have to be observative what she likes and how she plays with it. For example we had a wooden memory game. They would never play memory with it but used it to "go shopping". Now they are using bricks to do the same and some picture cards to use as "models" for playing "face paintig for kids". They also play family with their cars :) Because they are mostly responsible to clean up after themselves they undestand WHY it is better to have less. I actually did toy rotation with my son but it does not work with my daughter because that`s something she does not understand and always asks for the toys that are in rotation. So I became even more minimal about new toys.

@@Siures oooh don’t you just love their imaginations? My sons the same. He does tend to gravitate to more random objects around the house than toys lol he will pretend they are other things. What works for some doesn’t always work for others does it, bless her. 🥰 xx

Think you did well with what you decided could go. Recently did my sons room and he got rid of 90% of his toys because he starts high school this September and he feels too old for toys. Hes kept four small boxes of stuff. Rest is gone. Never seen the house look so empty of toys 😢

Hello mama 👋🏻 It’s frustrating isn’t it, you’d think it would make it easier for us to declutter 🙈🤣 I’m definitely due another toy declutter soon!! I think they feel as overwhelmed as we do 😩
