The potato chip thing reminds me of how Evan& Katelyn completely covered a pumpkin in resin and it literally just rotted inside its resin shell. 🤢 Yuck
As someone who has chickens and hollows out their own eggs: def never twist with an exacto. 🤣 Chip away with a nail or pointed screw, buy a blower, or make a hole big enough to fit a thin straw in and then blow in with the straw GENTLY over your bowl. Then submerge in water to fill, repeat to flush rinse water, repeat till it feels like you’re done rinsing, and then set hole side down to dry or settle hole side down in a pan of clean sand and bake in a 200* (warm) oven for about 30 minutes. If you have a dremel, you can even CARVE your resin egg! Carve the shell to reveal the resin underneath & place on a led lamp base!
We blew out eggs when I was a kid (my Mom's very crafty and wanted us to make faberge/easter eggs) and we just used a large needle to drill a hole into the top and bottom of the egg and blew it out over a bowl. Hurt my cheeks because the holes were so small but it worked and the hole wasn't obvious once it was decorated.
@@emilypresleysee I was wondering if it would help to shake the eggs really fast before putting the holes in? My aunt used to make faberge eggs too for Easter but I never had the chance to make them myself.
@@emilypresleysee My friend's family used to use that same technique; every once in a while they'd find some wild song bird in their shed or barn that they would have to force out and they'd make a decoration out of the eggs. They had a lovely recreated robin's nest they put on a shelf with some family portraits.
That was exactly what I was thinking, that even the thumbnail doesn’t make sense! There is no way they could get a pine cone through that tiny hole of the egg 🤣
Yeah it’s actually one of the clips where she’s talkin bout the power tools, you can see after the dude is done on the spinning thing they put it on a light n it hasa pinecone inside
The rainbow resin craft egg in the clickbait image is actually a resin pine cone craft from another channel. I do not recall if it is one of the 5Min craft channels though. But I do dabble in resin and saw that somewhere.
So here is a tip on how to clean out the egg a bit easier Step1, let the egg get to room temperature to make things easier. Step 2, shake the egg like your life depends on it and make a small hole with a needle in the pointy end of the egg. Step 3, make hole in the other side of the egg that is a little bit bigger than the first hole. Step 4, pers your lips against the small hole at the pointy end of the egg and blow and that should make inside of the egg come out of the bigger hole and the leave the eggshell intact ^^
I am pretty new to your channel and I absolutely love your energy and since of humor. I am new to resin and this video has taught me so much. I can’t thank you enough. ❤️
I'm also bothered by the fact that in the project with the silicone muffin liner and the screw, in the first project, they put the screw directly on the bottom of the liner, yet when they pull the "finished project" out, you can't see the head of the screw....
I want to know how they thought this would become a usable knob in the first place, the screw is coming out of the wider side, making the narrower area the one you'd grasp.
I love resin art, I have been playing with this for years. I am always looking for new and interesting ways to put it into my artistic endeavors. I watch and laugh and get inspired, Thank you.
I wouldn’t keep any resin project that didn’t fully cure inside. Eventually it will rupture. I had some dice I couldn’t tell hadn’t fully cured and eventually it destabilized from the inside and just formed cracks where the uncured resin just oozed out. Even “keep it away from your pets.” Is not good advice. If you can’t get it fully cured I would throw it away.
Yeah, usually happens when you get the wrong kind of epoxy resin as some are used for casting and others for coating. If you use epoxy resin made for coating in a mold any thicker than say, 1/4 inch, it will never cure in the middle. Even most casting epoxy resin has a thickness limit.
you are delightful to listen to/watch and this is delightfully informative! i have always loved resin crafts but never done them myself because i fear wasting money/materials due to ignorance.
Ok, I have to say it, “but Jackie, you’re doing it wrong! To empty an egg, you need to have a hole in the top and the bottom. Also, I would use a ting drill or a needle to make the hole. Loving the toothpick idea to fill it though!
Whenever 5 minute crafts does something unsafe, I call them out. They don't care if someone gets hurt or sick from what they show. I wish they could be held accountable for stuff. People don't know some of that stuff is dangerous.
There was also the time where they put strawberries on bleach and named them "white strawberries" It was titled "36 fruit life hacks you should try" they removed that part but in the description it said "0:09 white strawberries" which was reffering to the bleached strawberries idk how and why their channel hasn't been banned yet it's very concerning to me especially because their channel is targeted to kids
Your attitude is a whole mood. I know abaolutely nothing about resins, but i couldn't help but watch to the end. Super interesting to me. Thanks for the vid
@@dreacranford I've never used it, but I think its that regular resin takes a long time to set and puts off heat. UV resin hardens under UV light so its faster and safer. I think anyway, based on videos I've seen of it.
Okay, now I have to try the egg thing! I've been doing resin since 2012 and have never tried it in an egg shell. I think waiting between layers might be good, though would require working in small batches at a time so they don't mix too much. So it'd be rather time consuming, but it's pretty so I think worth a shot!
I’m intimidated because I don’t want to spend heaps of money on a new craft when I’m too sick to finish the projects I already started in my last new craft. You’re a good egg JackE
Great video! The cupcake mold makes really cute medallions for lapel pins or scrapbook embellishments. The Egg! 🤩 totally eggcellent! Definitely gonna try that out.
Don't put any type of food in resin. It's traps in the moisture, and that causes it to rot from the inside out. It makes it really moldy as well. There's this channel on RU-vid called Even and Kaitlyn and they didn't experiment with a pumpkin, where they put it in resin, and it did not end well. I highly recommend that video if you want to find out what happens if you put food in resin.
There is also a video around RU-vid where someone puts a Mcdonald's Cheeseburger and fries inside the resin 😂 And yes, I did watch that pumpkin resin as well 🤣
@@tsukipuppy The McD’s stuff tends to work because as long as there’s no tomatoes or lettuce on the burger, McDs food has almost no moisture. This is by design because it helps keep the food preserved so they can ship the buns and frozen meat and such all over the place and store it as long as possible. Technically you can order a plain burger and fries and as long as you keep it covered and in a low humidity area, it’ll look fine for years. It’ll just be very hard and dry. But foods with moisture in them, like fruits or vegetables do not do well in resin unless they’ve been properly dried. So, chips/crisps might do okay is they’re fully covered, but I’ve seen 5-Minute Crafts videos where they use fresh cucumbers and tomatoes and those will NOT do well long-term. Likewise, there’s a reason people use dried flowers, not fresh ones from their garden. Moisture and resin just don’t mix.
Wax paper and parchment paper are not the same thing! One has a wax coating, the other doesn’t, parchment paper is also called baking paper or oven paper.
You do know that there is TWO types of parchment paper right ~ the parchment paper that you use in baking which as a special coating ~ and then there’s the one you used in crafting!
Back in the 70s when i was about 10, i had a set called Plasticraft, which seems to have been some kind of resin, you mixed liquids together and had decorations which you put into molds with the resin to make jewelry and stuff, I really enjoyed playing with it.
You can't just resin food lol, like there is actually a horror story from the lolita community where there was someone selling cute 'realistic' lolita food charms and accessories. Spoiler alert, it wasn't clay or solid resin pieces, it was food covered in resin. So you had stories of people complaining that their charms were crumbling, discoloring, rotting, one person even received their package with ants in it, eating the accessory. just don't resin food, it is not worth it.
Yes I was wondering about this because I believe you can only use dried flowers or they will still turn brown and horrible inside the resin, so food is highly likely to go bad. Tho maybe the chip would be ok for quite a while because it’s very thin and salt does help preserve things, tho I’m really not sure. I think it would be much more fun to create a realistic model of a food item and then seal it inside the resin, I wonder if you can submerge baked polymer clay models in resin 🤔
I've been learning about resin for a couple years now, but never had the extra money to try it. I just started working with resin and I now make self defense keychains, and little things like that. I enjoy it so much!!!
Until my work gets back to normal... ie: the "before days" level, I can only do crafting vicariously... Love watching the resin vids. Looks like something I would enjoy!
I personally love UV resin because I due small projects and I love how it only cures with uv waves. It makes it versatile in a way, aside from not being able to use it in opaque molds.
hello, I haven't watched ur videos in about two to three years, but it seems ya havent changed! I really struggle with change, and it leaves me kinda sad when people do, so thank u!
If you need to ever use a hollow egg you should try making two little holes on opposite sides and blow into one. Everything will come out of the other hole
YES! I've done this. (-: And use a toothpick or something *round* to make the holes (sewing needles or pins would also work, they just aren't as big as toothpicks).
We used to do this every Easter. The contents were used for scrambled eggs. Seeing her throw it away is such a waste and makes me a little bit angry to be honest.
My mom: it's time for bed Me: ahhh mom can I pls just watch one more video😢 My mom: ok one more that's it!!! Me: ~watches 30 minute long video from NerdECrafter~
Because of this channel I went out and bought resin supplies. I want to try my hand at it and I’m really excited! It was pretty pricy but I’m sure its worth it
There is actually way to resin this, but this isn't the way to do it. Here is a link to resin bread ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H_xjE7jSr0Eh.htmlttps://ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H_xjE7jSr0E.html
Mix uv resin with small amount of rubbing alcohol. Soak chip for just a few minutes. Take out and let drip, then cure. It will seep into the chip and prevent this problem.
We used to make a couple of “forever eggs” each Easter; we did a hole on the bottom and one on the top. Then you just blow the contents out, and paint or dye the outside! In case you ever need to hollow out an eggshell again 😂
Hi Sweetie. Just a quick message. When you are attempting to empty an egg yolk from its shell, it's SOOOOOOOOO much easier if you were to put 2 holes in the egg. You were doing well by making the hole in the top of the egg, but this is going to shave a massive amount of time off your project. So the first hole you made was just about perfect, which is what I do, but then make a small hole at the other end, put your egg over a bowl, get the egg, so the larger hole is over the bowl, then gently make an air tight seal with your lips on the other end ................. AND BLOW!! If you're lucky, you can get the yolk out, whole, but it doesn't happen very often. Good Luck xx
you've actually inspired me to open up my own handmade resin items shop! i love watching all your resin videos, alongside all of the other ones you make
Hi Jackie just want to thank you soo much for uploading you are my comfort RU-vidr .....I am literally in middle of a breakdown session but having you makes the salt in me rise ....I will always love and appreciate you ❤️😀 You have helped me soo much and you might not even know this but Thank you sending love from the whole salty continent
Jackie you know there is no nontoxic resin, companies label it that so people will buy their products, and people making and selling tumblers coated with resin, all resin is toxic and should not be put in your mouth. I love your videos Jackie!
To be honest, they probably didn't use the resin in a bowl for that. That was probably "the magic of TV editing" in that they probably had water or some sort of clear fluid in there, and actually made the "resin chips" off camera.
This is my first video I watched from this channel and IMMEDIATELY I can tell that she is a really sweet and funny person. I’ll be sticking around for a bit :)
did 5 min crafts make a scene on a flat table by making it look like it was some sort of standing up magnetic wall with heavy resin magnets which are see through with no magnet... O.O
@@NWolfsson Or, put the egg in a measuring cup, fill it with enough water to cover the egg, make note of the volume. Remove egg, make note of how much the volume of the water is reduced by.
I have an idea for corpse husband sculpture. Corpse claim to be mixed race. One of the countries he is from is Italy. He also does a lot of Among us videos. I thought he could be a imposter themed dragon with spaghetti wings so he will be an impasta. Do you like my idea?
As someone who watched Corpse before his fame, personally, I would really like it if his sculpture incorporated the horror narration community somehow. Perhaps give him a Slenderman plushie or something.
@@paranoiarpincess This. Corpse has always been a lovely horror narrator. It's a shame that the popularity he's now getting seems to be focused only on that game & not his readings. :(
@@KillerCaitie Agreed! He was always one of my favorite horror story readers to listen to. He's been making great horror story videos for years, but it was only because of the Among Us videos that made him popular. (Don't get me wrong, I love both the horror stories and the gaming, but I subscribed because of the horror stories and that's what I know him from.) (I swear I'm not trying to make it sound like he's only playing to gain popularity, you can tell he's doing it because he has fun playing it.) (And I'm also not trying to make it seem like I think I'm better than others because I know him from his older videos, I'm just saying I wish he was known for more than just his gaming videos.)
About the egg, the easier way to empty them is to make a tiny hole on both ends with a needle and blow the content out by blowing the content out. You'd look funny while doing it but it sure does the job well! Of course you'd have to block the bottom before you fill it up. The result looks great!
More like five minute crafts is nothing more than a scam. They know the stuff isn't possible. They don't care. Idiots still watch it and they watch it a lot. Granted, a lot of the comments are negative with people calling them on their b.s. but a view is a view so the channels still get paid. There are content farm cooking channels too that give completely bogus recipes.
I have only been following you for about a month, I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUR BIRB!! Goffin's are my fave cockatoo (I have a Triton & 6 other birbs) That egg turned out awesome for a first go!! Job well done!!
Just getting interested in resin crafts, ran across this video while looking for tips. I hit the subscribe button 3 minutes in - you're a nutbar, hon, I LOVE your style! :)
